AGES 2.5-5 + ADULT Preschoolers will be introduced to all kinds of fun art projects using a variety of materials such as clay, paint, textiles, pastels and much more.

AGES 3-6 A fun, hands-on class where students explore the magic of both science and art! Enjoy simple science experiments combined with colorful art projects—perfect for curious minds and creative hands. Class encourages discovery, bonding, and early STEM and art learning in a playful, engaging environment.

ART DO-IT-TOGETHER

AGES 5-7 + ADULT Create one-of-a-kind clay sculptures, make a colorful batik project, draw with pastels and paint with watercolors.

CLAY CLASS FOR CREATIVE KIDS

AGES 2.5-5 + ADULT Have fun making plates, figures, vases and wall hangings. Students will decorate and glaze their one-of-a-kind clay creations.

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

CITY OF BOISE OUTDOOR PRESCHOOL – FLC & BUGS

AGES 3.5-5 Immerse your child in the foothills (FLC) or garden (BUGS). Children will explore the surrounding ecosystem and learn through STEM-based activities and develop interpersonal skills and independence. We spend most of our class time outside but have access to an indoor facility if needed. Program runs August 24, 2026 - May 13, 2027. Registering reserves your spot and commits your child to the program for the full school year. You will be billed monthly. Children must be fully independent in all aspects of toileting before enrollment. Pull-ups or training pants are not permitted. An email with more information will be sent before the start date.

EXPLORE NATURE TOGETHER –Adult/Child

AGES 2.5-4 + ADULT Discover the wonders of Hulls Gulch together! Explore a nature theme through stories and activities, then discover the foothills side by side. Dress for the weather. Adult participation required.

FAMILY HOLIDAY CRAFT CLASS

ALL AGES + ADULT Gather the family to create winter crafts while enjoying hot beverages! Create a yule log or evergreen centerpiece using locally foraged plant materials. Price is per person.

GROW TOGETHER GARDENING –Adult/Child

AGES 2-4 + ADULT Spend a morning in our garden exploring the natural world. Instructors will facilitate activities and garden tasks that will have you and your child working and learning together. Fee includes adult and child.

LITTLE GARDENERS FRIDAY PRESCHOOL DROP-OFF

AGES 3.5-5 Sessions focus on seasonal components of gardening that encourage exploration, creativity and sustainability. Hands-on outdoor activities include garden activities, science experiments, story time, crafts, and more.

WATERSHED STORY TIME

AGES 2-5 + ADULT Come learn and listen with us at our free story time at the WaterShed. Designed for children ages 2-5 to learn and play, but all ages are welcome. Pre-registration is required through the Eventbrite link on our event calendar at boisewatershed.org.

WATERSHED SCHOOL’S OUT

ALL AGES The WaterShed offers programming during school break periods. All ages and homeschools are welcome! Drop in and join us for free all-ages activities, crafts and scientific demonstrations in the classroom. No preregistration is required.

HOMESCHOOL ZOO

AGES 5-6 The Homeschool Zoo program series provides a unique learning experience for students schooled at home. The course consists of classroom discussion, laboratory activities, animal encounters and specialized zoo tours. Classes align with Idaho State Science Standards and focus on topics and principles based on grade level. Themes emphasize looking at animal groups and taxonomy, adaptations, habitats and ecology. Each individual household must register their child for the class. Kids only! Please bring a small snack for a 15-minute break during class.

ALL AGES Calling all homeschools! We offer FREE programs catered to children ages 5-12, but all ages are welcome. Pre-register through the Eventbrite link found on our event calendar at boisewatershed.org.

EQUIPMENT

Full Hockey Equipment is Required! A one-time $35 fee will be charged to rent hockey equipment when enrolled in Learn to Play. Helmets, neck guards, and sticks are NOT included and MUST be provided by the player.

LEARN TO PLAY 1 (H1)

AGES 4-7 Players will learn how to sit on ice and stand up, proper stance, march forward, forward two-foot glide, dip, squat, scooter pushes, T-push, forward swizzles, snowplow stop, and backwards skating. Full equipment required. Helmet and neck guard must be provided by skater. No sticks allowed.

HOCKEY LEARN TO PLAY 2 (H2)

Prerequisite: Hockey Learn to Play 1 (H1)

Hockey Learn to Play

The focus and goal of the Hockey Learn to Play curriculum is to teach beginner hockey players the fundamentals of skating. It is important for these developing players to become comfortable on the ice, learn the basic hockey stance, stride, knee bend, use of edges and how to hold a stick before moving into a full hockey curriculum. Players need to be able to participate in class independently from parent. Scholarships are available for these classes.

NECK GUARDS are required for all players under the age of 18 and MUST be PROVIDED by the player!

A USA Hockey Membership is required for all participants to be allowed on the ice and can be purchased from usahockey.com/membership. The USA Hockey Membership number is required at time of enrollment.

HOCKEY EQUIPMENT RENTAL

Idaho IceWorld will provide hockey rental equipment for a one-time equipment rental fee of $35. This rental fee will be charged per child, one time for the duration of their participation in the Hockey Learn to Play program. This fee will be charged at the time the equipment is picked up or assigned. Helmet, stick and neck guard must be provided by skater.

Learn to Skate

Recognized by Learn to Skate USA® as a top program in the country, Idaho IceWorld’s Learn to Skate program provides a fun and structured way for skaters to be physically active and improve their skills under the professional eyes of certified instructors. We have group classes for all levels and ages. Check out the curriculum for each level at LearnToSkateUSA.com. All students of Idaho IceWorld’s Learn to Skate program must have a current Learn to Skate USA® membership. Annual memberships are valid July 1-June 30 each year. With your annual fee ($20, valid July 1–June 30) you will:

• Be a member of the best skating program endorsed by U.S. Figure Skating, USA Hockey, and US Speedskating.

• Gain great information to make sure your first glides on ice are successful ones.

• Receive a Welcome Packet in the mail, which includes a subscription to Learn To Skate USA® The Magazine valued at $3 (allow 2-4 weeks for delivery)

• Receive secondary sport accident insurance

• Participate in lessons, performances, competitions, and all activities associated with Learn to Skate USA®.

AGES 4-7 Players will learn one-foot snowplow stop, introduce hips with ¼ turn twist to hockey stop, full strides using 45-degree V-Push, shuffle stride, backwards hustle, backward C-Cuts, power pushes, backward outside edge glide, forward C-Cuts, C-push glide, forward outside & inside edges, gliding 2 foot turn, and lateral crossover march. Classes will be structured following USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM) Program. Full equipment required. Helmet, neck guard, and stick must be provided by skater.

HOCKEY LEARN TO PLAY (H4)

Prerequisite: Hockey Learn to Play 3 (H3)

AGES 4-7 Class includes on-ice coaching instruction and scrimmages. Full hockey equipment is required. Helmet, neck guard, and stick must be provided by skater.

ICE SKATING

SPUDS AND TATER TOTS (Adult/Child Class)

AGES 2-3 + ADULT On ice adult participation is REQUIRED and both are required to be on skates! Designed for children ages 2-3 and their accompanying adult. Basic skating skills will be taught to the children while allowing adults to offer support and security.

SNOWPLOW SAM 1 (Beginners)

AGES 4-6 Beginning skaters will learn how to sit and stand up with their skates both on and off the ice. They will master marching in place, marching forward, going from marching to a two-foot glide and dipping in place. Once all skills are mastered, skaters advance to Snowplow Sam 2 and receive a Certificate of Achievement and a Snowplow Sam 1 badge. Check out the curriculum for each level at learntoskateusa.com.

ICE HOCKEY/ ICE SKATING CONT’D

SNOWPLOW SAM 2 (Prerequisite Snowplow Sam 1)

AGES 4-6 Skaters will learn how to march followed by a long glide, dip while moving, do backward walking and wiggles, forward swizzles, beginning snowplow stop motion and the twofoot hop in place. Once all skills are mastered, skaters advance to Snowplow Sam 3 and receive a Certificate of Achievement and a Snowplow Sam 2 badge. Check out the curriculum for each level at learntoskateusa.com.

SNOWPLOW SAM 3 (Prerequisite Snowplow Sam 2)

Once all skills are mastered, skaters advance to Basic 2 or 3 (based on instructor recommendation) and receive a Certificate of Achievement and a Snowplow Sam 4 badge. ICE SHOW CAST MEMBER

AGES 4-12 The 2026 Annual Boise Ice Show “JINGLE BLADES” will take place at Idaho IceWorld on Fri., Dec. 4 at 7PM and Sat., Dec. 5 at 3PM and 6PM. Participation requires registration for BOTH fall sessions. All Learn to Skate students are eligible to participate. Practices for the Snowplow Sam and Basic Skills groups will be on Wednesdays from 6:45–7:30PM beginning Sept. 9. Teen and Adult group practices will be on Mondays from 7:15–7:45PM beginning Sept. 14. Mandatory

dress rehearsals are tentatively scheduled for Sat., Nov. 14 and Sun., Nov. 29 (times TBD). This practice/rehearsal plan is subject to change. This show is professionally choreographed and co-produced by Idaho IceWorld and the Boise Figure Skating Club. Students receive additional on- and off-ice instruction while participating in a fun and rewarding performance experience. Being a cast member is a significant commitment of time and energy, and attendance at all practices and rehearsals should be treated as a priority when scheduling family activities. This is a ticketed event requiring spectators including parents to purchase admission. All costume fees are additional and will be determined at a later date. Registration fee includes cost of videographer. Check our website IdahoIceWorld.com for updates. City of Boise Parks and Recreation Scholarships do not apply to this activity. Learn to Skate USA membership required. REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 4.

Youth Performing Arts

Through weekly dance classes, we will work on the amazing physical benefits of dance and the role dance takes in the development of young people. Depending on the dancer’s age, we will work on spatial awareness, taking turns, learning right from left, following directions, creative thinking, respecting each other, problem solving and more. We will use dance to learn, grow and get ready for the next big step in your dancer’s life.

BALLET, JAZZ & CHEER

AGES 3.5-5 This combination class will offer dance and athletic education, coordination, and team building. Students will learn simplified ballet terms and play high-energy participation games. Dance attire is not required, but clothing should not limit movement. Please wear grippy socks to help with slipping.

BROADWAY JAZZ

AGES 3.5-5 Young dancers will learn the fundamentals of jazz technique through high energy and imaginative play. Dance attire is not required, but clothing should not limit movement. Please wear grippy socks for this class to help with slipping.

STORY DRAMA

AGES 3.5-5 We will build theatrical skills such as confidence and imagination while bringing some of your favorite fantasy stories to life! We will explore characters from classic storybooks and use the context of the story to present a problem. Students will go through various theatrical games and exercises to explore

different tactics and solve the problem. Friends and family will get to join in on our last class for an awesome sharing showcase.

TINY TAP – Beginner

MULTI-SPORT – ADULT/CHILD & TOTS

AGES 2-3.5 + ADULT & 4-5 Kickstart your child’s athletic journey! This program offers a variety of sports through fun, age-appropriate activities, enhancing balance, coordination and fitness. Parent participation is required for ages 2-3.5yrs. This dynamic introduction to sports is packed with learning and teamwork! Wednesday class will learn basketball/soccer. Saturday class will learn soccer/football.

TENNIS – ADULT/CHILD

AGES 5-12 + ADULT Adults will learn beginner skills while children are taught separately. Proper technique is emphasized along with racquet control, cooperation and movement. Lessons are incorporated into fun games to help children stay focused and interested while learning to play. Only register child and provide parent’s name at time of registration.

CRITTER COLLEGE

AGES 5-7 This 3-hour drop-off mini-camp is perfect for starting the week with wild educational activities! Designed for young animal lovers and future conservationists; Kids only. Please bring a small snack for a 15-minute break during class. Each month, children will explore a new theme:

BACKYARD BIOLOGISTS: Let’s explore the zoo and the amazing wildlife of Idaho too. Investigate plants, insects, and birds - even small habitats are full of big wonders.

ZOO DETECTIVES: Put on your detective caps as we sort through clues, track traces of animals and their movements through footprints, scat and other animal signs.

ANIMAL INVENTORS: Geckos, birds, sharks, and bats – plants and animals inspire new inventions. We are nature’s copycats – how do we mimic the wild?

PRESCHOOL ZOO

AGES 3-5 + ADULT Both must register individually. Get to know our Zoo Boise animals better in this series designed for adults and preschoolers. Each week features a different animal. Activities are designed to be multi-sensory and may include mini zoo tours, listening to stories, crafts, touching artifacts, and meeting live animals. All children must be accompanied by an enrolled, paying adult who is ready to take part in the activities. Maximum of 2 children per enrolled adult. For everyone’s safety and enjoyment, unregistered children (including siblings) may not attend. All children must be at least 3 years old. Zoo admission not included outside of program hours.

STROLLER SAFARI

AGES 0-3 + ADULT Adults register individually and may bring up to two program-age children. Bring your walking shoes and camera on this exclusive guided experience through Zoo Boise. Activities are multi-sensory and include mini zoo tours, listening to stories, crafts, touching artifacts, and activities that build skills that can be used for a lifetime. Each week will uncover new wonders and provide great tips for nature exploration! Maximum of 2 children per enrolled adult. AGES 6-8 Uncover the superpowers of the animal kingdom. From keen eyesight to acute hearing and extraordinary smells; we will learn about the diverse ways animals survive and thrive in the wild.

ZOOKEEPING CAMPS

AGES 5-7 What is it like to work at a zoo? Learn exhibit design, plan diets, identify scat, “train animals”, make enrichment, and find out how zoos (and you) protect animals in the wild.

ZOOLOGY CAMPS

AGES 5-7 Explore the amazing diversity of the zoo’s residents, from the smallest insects to the mightiest big cats. Learn what it takes to live in the wild, from “tracking animals” on a scavenger hunt, nature crafts and animal encounters.

Kid City After School Programs

AGES 6-12 After a $20 registration fee, Boise Parks and Recreation’s Kid City will be providing FREE after school programming at several elementary schools in the Boise and West Ada School Districts starting Monday, August 17. This program will run after school until 6PM during the 2026-2027 school year (closed on non-school days). Programs are available for registered students in 1st-6th grade. AGES 13+ Learn a forward inside open Mohawk from a standstill position, backward crossovers to a backward outside edge glide, backward outside edge to a forward outside edge transition, basic combination footwork, one-foot upright spin, Mazurka, Waltz jump and backward inside pivots. Once all skills are mastered, skaters advance to Free Skate 1 and receive a Certificate of Achievement and a PreFree Skate badge.

FREE SKATE 1-4 (Prerequisite PreFree Skate)

AGES 13+ Designed to introduce the skater to the next level of figure skating. Class will concentrate on beginning jumps, spin techniques and Moves in the Field. Skaters must have mastered Pre-Free Skate elements. Once skills are mastered at a level, skaters advance to the next Free Skate level and receive a Certificate of Achievement and a badge. After completion of Free Skate 6, skaters generally focus on private instruction.

AGES 15+ Drawing uses the very simplest tools and is the most basic of the art forms, yet it can also be the most intimidating. Students will improve both drawing and observation skills by learning about the fundamentals of line, shape, value, perspective and proportion. This is a fun, low-pressure, relaxing class: no experience (or drawing ability) is required!

DRAWING – Fall Botanical

AGES 15+ Botanical drawing is an introduction to the principals of drawing from life. Students will work on creating value and texture, framing a solid composition, building color and using the traditional materials used by botanical illustrators: pencil, colored pencils and watercolor. Specimens will include fall leaves, harvest fruits and other autumnal delicacies. All skill levels welcome. All materials provided.

ENAMELING – All Levels

Vitreous enameling is an ancient art dating back to 13th century B.C. Students will explore a variety of techniques for fusing glass to metal to create small artworks of exquisite beauty. Basic materials provided. Specialty supplies may need to be purchased by student.

GLASS MOSAICS – Intro

AGES 15+ Learn the basics of creating mosaics including types of glass, tools, rendering/ cutting and grouting. Students will create a wonderful glass mosaic piece! All materials provided.

AGES 15+ This Intermediate Outdoor SteppingStone Mosaic class uses skills and knowledge learned in the Introduction to Mosaic class to design and render mosaics that can go outdoors! Students will design and render a steppingstone project using materials suited for outdoor/wet application. *Students MUST have previous mosaic experience, as no beginner techniques will be taught in this class. GLASS FUSING – All Levels

AGES 15+ Beginner and intermediate students will explore glass fusing, design fundamentals and composition, kiln firing, controlled movement, color reactions, and slumping. Each participant will take home finished functional slumped glass pieces that are both beautiful and uniquely their own. No experience necessary. All materials provided.

INTRODUCTION TO PAINTING–Beginners

AGES 15+ Course is designed for beginning students who need an introduction to painting in order to feel confident enough to take one of our “all levels” painting courses. Learn the basics of painting including detailed instruction on brushes, materials, painting mediums, mixing colors and mapping out your paintings. Students will use acrylic, watercolor and possibly some oil paints. All materials provided.

PAINTING, ACRYLIC – All Levels *

AGES 15+ Beginning students will learn the basics of acrylic painting including techniques of color, composition, texture and layering. This 3-hour boot camp is for both new players and players that have previously taken a beginner class. You will learn the basics of pickleball if you are a beginner or enhance your skills to become a higher-level player if you have taken a beginner course already. Class ends with match play.

PICKLEBALL BOOTCAMP – Low Intermediate/Intermediate

This 3-hour bootcamp for low intermediate and intermediate players will focus on learning game strategy, tactics and movement patterns. The day ends with round-robin play.

PICKLEBALL LADDER LEAGUES

AGES 16+ Ladders leagues are organized leagues in which players with similar skills compete against each other in a competitive, structured and weekly format. Think of a pickleball “ladder” as a graphical representation of a player’s ranking (by skill and performance) over a period of time. The rungs on the ladder represent a player’s current position (ranking) on the ladder relative to the other players — with the top rung of the ladder being the individual currently ranked the highest (the best winning percentage) and the bottom rung being the lowest-ranked individual or team. The ultimate goal is to climb the ladder

to the highest rung. Please see the online registration site for a complete description. We will offer an individually ranked, round robin format. In such a format, those participating in the pickleball ladder will be placed in groups of four in the order of their position (ranking) on the ladder each week. In this format, all players will play three doubles games in a round-robin format with the other three players in the foursome. After the scores are tallied for each of the three matches, players may be individually moved up or down the ladder the following week — of course, depending upon their performance in those 3 roundrobin games. The ultimate goal is to climb the ladder to the highest rung. Participants will be responsible for recording and reporting their own scores after each match. Prizes will be awarded for the top ranked individual of each ladder, as well as the participant who moves up the most ladder rungs.

For athletic students who lack consistency in a rally but can coordinate footwork when contacting the ball on the forehand and backhand. These students keep score, serve (but double fault frequently) and understand the basic rules.

Tennis – Red Ball (2.5-3.0 level)

Red Ball Tennis is a fun, low pace game played on a smaller court that makes for a great workout without the intense physical demands of traditional tennis.

Pickleball tournaments are a great way to compete in a friendly environment with other players of the same ability. We offer a variety of formats throughout the year, typically around each major holiday.

Haunted Hobble is a team round robin event. You and your partner will sign up as individuals but will play together the entire event, against each of the other teams entered in the event. Each participant gets an individual gift, and the winners will walk away with prizes!

Holiday Pickleball Tournament is an individual event; just worry about getting yourself to the event and we will handle everything else! Over the course of two days, you’ll be randomly assigned to groups and will play with everyone else at the event at least once. The entry fee includes a T-shirt and lunch, plus prizes for the top finishers!

The Dick Eardley Senior Center is a meeting place where older adults can participate in a variety of programs, classes, activities and services focused on health, life-long learning, recreation and more. It is a lively place that connects older adults to the community, where they can take classes, share a meal, engage in games and activities, and socialize. We offer a welcome orientation and facility tour on the second Wednesday of each month beginning at 11AM. Join us!

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Boise Parks and Recreation offers financial scholarships to qualified adults age 62 and older. Scholarships can help pay for classes and activities. To find out if you qualify, apply in advance at the Dick Eardley Senior Center or Fort Boise Community Center.

ON-SITE SHOPPING

The center features a craft boutique offering one-of-a-kind items that are made locally by people age 50 and older. There is also a community thrift store on site where donations of new and slightly used items are always welcome. Proceeds from the thrift store help provide programs and services for seniors. Both stores are open 10AM-2PM Monday-Friday.

DONATIONS

We accept donations of new and gently used items to sell in our thrift store. All proceeds stay at the Senior Center and are used to offer unique and creative programming as well as scholarships to older adults who have financial difficulties. Thrift store donations are accepted during regular business hours. We also accept tax-deductible monetary donations. THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES, HOWEVER, EVERYONE IS WELCOME.

PROGRAMS & SERVICES

Boise Parks and Recreation’s AdVenture Program provides a wide range of programs for youth and adults with disabilities. We also offer inclusion services in which modifications may be provided so that an individual with a disability can fully participate in Boise Parks and Recreation’s programs. Services such as sign language interpreters, adaptive equipment, etc. may be provided with a minimum of two or more weeks advanced notice of the program start date with no cost to the participant. To inquire about inclusion services, please contact Emily Kovarik at 208-608-7687 (TTY: 711) or ekovarik@cityofboise.org. Reasonable modifications are based on individuals’ needs and abilities.

PARTICIPANT PERSONAL NEEDS

The adaptive recreation staff and volunteers provide leadership for the program but are unable to provide assistance with self-care needs (feeding, toileting assistance, etc.). Care providers are welcome to accompany participants who need personal care. Participants who have behavioral issues may be asked to participate with an aide in attendance. Please let us know upon registration if you will be bringing your own aide as fees for aides may be waived or may vary depending on the activity. Participants should enjoy meeting new people, be able to function in a group setting and need to be able to adjust to new routines and environments. If you have dietary restrictions or require a special meal you are welcome to bring a meal that meets your needs to enjoy with the group. When available, a special meal option may also be provided for an additional charge.

ADAPTIVE ART

AGES 15+ This is the perfect class for participants with disabilities to explore several different forms of art ranging from pottery, drawing, painting and much more! Fee includes instruction and supplies.

ADAPTIVE COOKING CLASS

AGES 15+ Help prepare meals that we will eat together as a group. We will improve our cooking skills, socialize with friends and take part in clean-up duties. Participants will practice following directions, learning about healthy food options, safe food preparation and table manners. ADAPTIVE FITNESS CLASS

AGES 15+ Work on stretching, strength and cardio. This is a great opportunity to get fit in a supportive and fun environment. Classes are now once per week and structured for different levels of ability. The Tuesday class will do a structured workout that is similar each week for students who prefer consistency. The Thursday class will explore different workouts and students will need to follow two-step directions. Consider signing up for both for a twice-a-week workout.

ADAPTIVE WALKING CLUB

AGES 16+ Join us for a leisurely walk in the park. The club is designed for individuals with disabilities who enjoy being outdoors, getting exercise and who can stay with the group. We will meet at Fort Boise Community Center and drive to a different park each week. The club will be held rain or shine.

ADAPTIVE YOGA

AGES 15+ Yoga helps improve flexibility, strength and balance and provides an opportunity to work on body awareness and the ability to relax. Class is designed for individuals who have disabilities, and our instructor is great at adapting the yoga poses for people of all abilities.

BOWLING CLUB

AGES 16+ The AdVenture Bowling Club is a fun, noncompetitive group offering socialization opportunities for individuals with disabilities. The fee covers bowling, shoe rental and staff supervision. This activity meets at the Bowling Alley in the BSU Student Union Building.

DANCE ABILITY

AGES 12+ This adaptive class is designed to build flexibility, balance, and rhythm while exploring new dance techniques like ballet,

country swing, and contemporary. The later fall session will include an informal Holiday Recital!

ICE SHOW CAST- Adaptive Practice

AGES 5+ The 2026 Annual Boise Ice Show “JINGLE BLADES” performances will take place on Fri., Dec, 4 at 7PM, Sat., Dec. 5 at 3PM and 6PM. Participation requires registration for BOTH fall sessions. All Learn to Skate students are eligible to participate. Practices for Snowplow Sam and Basic Skills groups will be held Wednesdays, 6:45–7:30PM beginning Sept. 9. Teen and Adult group practices will be held Mondays, 7:15–7:45PM beginning Sept. 14. Two mandatory dress rehearsals are tentatively scheduled for Sat., Nov. 14 and Sun., Nov. 29 with times TBD. This show is professionally choreographed and co-produced by Idaho IceWorld and the Boise Figure Skating Club.

Students receive additional on- and off-ice instruction while participating in a fun and rewarding experience. Being a cast member is a significant commitment of time and energy, and attendance at all practices and rehearsals are a priority. ALL AGES Not sure what adaptive cycle will work for you during an AdVenture bike ride? Schedule an adaptive bike fitting with one of our Adaptive Recreation staff. During this 30-45 minute session, we can show you a variety of adaptive cycles that are part of our fleet. Bike fittings cost $5 per person and must be scheduled in advance by calling 208-608-7681.

ADAPTIVE BIKE RENTAL

ALL AGES Experience cycling on your own time with our adaptive cycle rentals. Rent one of our handcycles or trikes and enjoy accessible recreation at your own pace. All rentals must include an assessment and fitting with AdVenture staff to ensure the cycle is a safe and appropriate match. Rentals are by appointment only, cost $21 per day ($40 per weekend), and must be scheduled in advance by calling 208-608-7680 and asking for Laura or Grace.

ADAPTIVE BIKE RIDE

AGES 16+ Join us for an hour-long adaptive bike ride along the beautiful Boise Greenbelt. Bring your own bike or use one of our adaptive hand cycles, adult tricycles, recumbent tricycles, or tandem bikes or trikes (call 208-608-7680 for bike availability and reservations). These rides are designed as supervised group rides and are not bike riding lessons; however, proper trail manners and safety will be addressed. Participants must be able to follow directions and stay with the group or attend with someone who can assist. *Youth under 16 are welcome but must attend with an adult.

APPLE PICKING & DESSERT

AGES 18+ Celebrate Fall with apple picking at a local orchard! Depending on the orchard, we may drive for up to an hour. After, we will bake an apple dessert and socialize over a pizza lunch.

AQUARIUM & LUNCH

AGES 16+ Explore and learn about the animals and marine life that live at the Boise Aquarium. After our visit we will socialize over lunch.

ARCADE & LUNCH

AGES 18+ For this alcohol-free evening, we will hop on one of Boise’s popular “bike bars” to pedal around downtown. We will make stops for dinner and dessert. This “bar” has no alcohol, but plenty of fun!

Birds are found in nearly every city setting, from urban micro parks to the sprawling foothills that border our northeastern edge. Birds visit backyard feeders, perch in low shrubs and on tall structures, swim in our river, lakes and ponds, nest in our trees and soar overhead. A variety of Boise’s habitats attract and support hundreds of species, and we invite you to explore some of the area’s most common birds. The Field Guide to Boise’s Birds is available for free online. Printed versions can be purchased at the Boise Parks and Recreation Administration Office for $8 plus tax.

Idaho Master Naturalists

Calling all nature nuts! The City of Trees Idaho Master Naturalist chapter is now seeking participants for its 2027 class. The Idaho Master Naturalist program is an adult environmental education and volunteer program, that engages participants in the stewardship of Idaho’s natural world. Participants certify as an Idaho Master Naturalist by completing 40 hours of education and 40 hours of volunteer service with the City of Trees chapter. Classes take place twice a month on Wednesday mornings, 9AM – 12PM, from March – October, and there is a $100 participant fee. Pollinator Posse, Tuesday

Pollinators are essential in producing healthy food and maintaining vibrant, thriving ecosystems. Unfortunately, many pollinator populations have experienced steep declines in recent decades. Boise Parks and Recreation is working hard to provide high quality pollinator habitat by planting, monitoring and maintaining dedicated pollinator areas in Boise parks. Beginning late March and finishing up mid October, weekly work parties are held on Tuesday mornings, from 9 – 11AM or 8 – 11AM, during which our dedicated team of volunteers prune, remove weeds, plant new pollinator plants as needed, and monitor for pollinator use. Location details will be sent out weekly to all registered participants.

Tree Wrapping, Tuesdays starting November; 10AM-12PM

The Boise River riparian corridor provides critical habitat for a wide range of species, including Bald eagles. Black cottonwoods and willows are critical components of this habitat and unfortunately are also a favorite food and construction resource for the American beaver. Beginning in November, we could use your help protecting trees from beaver damage by wrapping them with wire and replacing old wire. Volunteers may assist with noxious and invasive species control as well as other riparian stewardship projects. We will tackle a different section of the river corridor each week on Tuesdays, 10AM – 12PM.

2027 Tree Stewards, Thursday Mornings; 9-11AM

Do you have a love for trees or simply want to learn more about them? Boise Parks and Recreation is seeking participants for its 2027 Tree Steward program. Tree Stewards provides opportunity for citizens to learn about and care for our community’s trees through a combination of training and handson experience. Volunteers will complete an orientation in late March/early April 2027, during which trained and certified tree care professionals inform participants on how to identify trees, how trees grow, proper planting techniques, pruning basics and how to diagnose common tree problems. Participants will help care for park trees on Thursday mornings through October. Participants that complete 30 hours of service during the year, become certified Tree Stewards.

Zoo Boise

At Zoo Boise, our mission is to connect our community with wildlife conservation worldwide. We are looking for passionate, conservation-driven volunteers to provide a fun and educational experience for our visitors. Volunteer opportunities include:

• Spending an afternoon driving the Conservation Cruise as a boat captain

• Raising funds for wildlife conservation at the Sloth Bear and Giraffe feeding stations as a Zoo Naturalist

• Welcoming, hosting and educating visitors as a Zoo Ambassador

• Sharing & teaching your pre-teen the value of volunteerism with the Zoo’s family volunteer opportunities

• Assisting zookeeping staff with animal care duties

Service projects can be scheduled throughout the season. These are typically one-time efforts that range from 3 to 4 hours, depending on location and group size. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCMENT – Starting August 2, 2026 the Boise Depot will be temporarily closed for renovations. Reopening Late Summer 2027. The Boise Depot is a unique venue for weddings, parties, corporate and fundraising events. A beautiful historic Spanish-style structure, the Depot was opened in 1925 to elaborate fanfare in the capital city. The Great Hall, a 3,542-square-foot space with a soaring multi-story atrium, once served as the building’s waiting room. The original 1925 Barkalow Brothers Newsstand has been slightly restored and is featured on the west wall. With a splendid panoramic view of the Boise Front, the grounds include Platt Gardens, a lovely park with pathways, a gazebo and ponds. The Great Hall may be reserved 365 days in advance. Maximum occupancy is 300 or 165 for sit-down events.

& CANCELLATION POLICY

We rely on your enrollment for a successful class! Please plan your schedule carefully. Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment are subject to cancellation. Refunds are issued:

• Refunds are issued in full if the class or program is canceled by Boise Parks and Recreation.

• Staff will make every effort to reschedule a class canceled due to weather.

• Transfers to another class are offered when requested at least 10 calendar days prior to the start date of the class.

• A $20 per household member processing fee is charged for all cancellations made at least 10 calendar days prior to the start date of the class. Refunds may be issued as:

1. Back to the original payment method (allow three to four weeks for processing).

2. Added as a credit to your account. Refunds and transfers are not issued:

• When requested less than 10 calendar days before the start date of the class.

• If the fee paid for the program is less than the $15 processing fee.

• If a class is rescheduled due to weather.

• For missed, sick, or suspended days.

Boise residents live within the city limits and pay Boise city taxes. The boundaries that the U.S. Post Office uses and those that determine the city limits are not the same.
