Welcome to the Blue Springs Police Department’s 2024 Annual Report!
Thank you for taking the time to learn about our department. I am incredibly proud of this agency and the dedicated men and women who serve our community. The Blue Springs Police Department is recognized both nationally through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) as well as on the state level through the Missouri Police Chiefs Association Certification Program.
This past year brought several changes to the Police Department to include a transition in animal control services back under police management, a transition from DARE to IMPACT prevention education in the schools and the use of new technology called Live911. Additionally, we welcomed 14 new police officers and nine new civilian employees were hired to fill vacancies. Within our supervisory ranks, two new Captains, two new Lieutenants and three new Sergeants were promoted also to fill vacancies within those supervisory ranks.
The Blue Springs Police Department’s mission statement expresses the goal of providing high-quality service and promoting a safe environment through police and citizen interaction. It is this community partnership that creates safe and secure streets and neighborhoods. We are committed and dedicated to reducing crime and enhancing relationships with our community so that Blue Springs continues to prosper and thrive as a resilient and vibrant community.

Animal Control Returns to BSPD
Adopt your new best friend!
Girls on Fire
The Girls on Fire Camp addresses the unique set of challenges facing young girls by encouraging healthy relationships, discipline, self-esteem and health and wellness. During the camp, teens will learn new skills in a group environment, work together to practice these skills with team challenges and experience the importance of working together during course activities. Through a series of interactive presentations, girls will be introduced to concepts that will enhance confidence, self-motivation and preparation to succeed at the next level in school or in life.
Life Sports Community Programs
Life Sports is a free summer sports camp for boys age 11-14 who are residents of Blue Springs or attend the Blue Springs School District. This is a great opportunity for middle school boys to interact with members of the Blue Springs Police Department through team sports and daily group discussions on life-skills, character and sportsmanship. Sports played include flag football, soccer, basketball, street hockey and many more.
Citizens’ Police Academy
The Citizens’ Police Academy is a 9-week program designed to give participants a working knowledge of the Blue Springs Police Department. Community orientated policing is an important and vital part in reducing crime in any community. One major objective of the program is to have graduates become partners with the Police Department to identify problems and solutions to crime issues that affect Blue Springs. Academy graduates take their knowledge back to their neighborhoods where it can be used to enhance the quality of life in our community.
