MAYC Musical Variety Show

Thursday, September 11, 1-3pm

A lively afternoon of music, laughter, and talent like you have not seen before!

The MAYC Musical Variety Show celebrates the creativity, charm, and hidden talents of our amazing participants and community members. All those who sing or play an instrument will demonstrate their talents with solos, duets, or small groups.

Come out for the toe tapping tunes you can sing-along to. There will be many of your musical favorites, and unforgettable performances as our senior stars take the stage for an afternoon of pure entertainment. This event is open to all ages, so bring your friends, family, and love for music. Refreshments and snacks provided.

Let’s celebrate the power of music, laughter, and community — senior style on Thursday, September 11, 1-3PM.

MPLS Aquatennial Senior Association

The Minneapolis Aquatennial festival and parade is a celebration started in 1940 with the help of veteran volunteers from the St. Paul Winter Carnival. The celebration was established to celebrate the connection to water with parades, pageantry, and other events to highlight Minneapolis’s status as the “City of Lakes.”

In 1979, the Minneapolis Aquatennial Senior Association was organized as a non-profit consisting of all seniors that recognize the value and importance of seniors in our communities. The goal of this group is to continue to provide value to the lives of seniors. This senior volunteer group provides sing along performances with hits both past and present around the cities.

Thanks to MAYC member Marlene Jenson, the Mary Ann Young Center is fortunate enough to have the group perform. They will be singing patriotic songs made popular during World War II such as “This is My Country”. In addition, there will be upbeat popular billboard hits like “Never Be Anyone Else But You” and music by Bing Crosby “Swinging on a Star” are part of the music performed.

We hope you will sign up for lunch and come early at 11AM to sing along to some fan favorite classics. Register by Tuesday, September 2 to hear this talented group on Tuesday, September 9 at 11AM.
