It's About the Connections Sally is a familiar face at the Mary Ann Young Center. These days, you will often find her in a fitness class, but being here also brings back great memories from her time with Volunteers of America (VOA), when Mary Ann Young was a site manager for the City of Blaine. Sally saw firsthand what made this place so special. Mary Ann had a way of making everyone feel welcome. People came for lunch by car, and in the winter, some even arrived by snowmobile. No matter how they got there, they were greeted with a warm smile and a sense of belonging.

Sally takes great pride in her time with VOA and its strong commitment to supporting seniors. She says the program has always been about more than just a meal. It is about connection, dignity, and community. Seniors who attend in person can sit together, share stories, and build friendships in a relaxed, welcoming setting. Just as important, VOA makes sure no one is left behind. Through its meal program, seniors who cannot attend in person still receive nutritious food, along with regular check-ins and friendly conversation. Those small moments can make a big difference in someone’s day. To Sally, VOA represents the very best of community care, warm meals, warm smiles, and a network of support that helps seniors feel valued, connected, and cared for. She feels fortunate to have been part of such a meaningful program. Lunch is served Monday through Friday at noon for a suggested $5 donation. Sign up today. We hope to see you at lunch!
