Blaine Bicycle Club Meet the Leaders: Deb and Larry McPeck Deb and Larry McPeck have been married for 48 years. Deb was a special education teacher for 28 years, and Larry owned Specialty Outfitters in Blaine, selling promotional products. They both give back to the community. Deb participates in craft shows to raise funds for Mary’s Meals, an organization that supports youth. A 20-year volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Larry took a trip to Nicaragua to help build a house for a family in need.

Stay Connected

As second-generation owners of the family lake cabin by Park Rapids, they keep traditions alive by inviting family for reunions and casual getaways to recharge and refresh.

Are you on our email and phone list? Call 763-786-9375 to make sure MAYC staff have your most recent contact information.

They feel fortunate to have their three teenage grandchildren, Carson, Emma, and Logan, living nearby. In addition to sharing their love of bicycling, Deb enjoys walkie talkie walks with Carson. Deb and Larry enjoy Emma’s soccer games and crafting at shows, and they spend time with Logan at bass fishing, archery, and trap shooting competitions.

After discovering a senior bicycling club in Gulf Shores, Alabama, Deb and Larry approached MAYC staff about creating a Blaine Bicycle Club. Now in its third season, the club has up to 10 riders who gather on Wednesdays at 10AM, with a stop at an restaurant for conversation and camaraderie. They are creating activity and connection in retirement.

Celebrate Independence Day Address Service Requested

Fun Facts and Patriotic Party with the Silver Ukes Wednesday, July 3, 11am, $5 On June 14, 1775, the Continental Congress established the American Continental Army. This historic event is celebrated as the Army’s Birthday. Two years later, on June 14, Congress passed an act to establish an official flag for the nation. Although the flag’s birthday was unofficially celebrated annually, it wasn’t until 1949 that President Harry S. Truman signed an act of Congress declaring June 14 as Flag Day. The U.S. flag is proudly displayed daily and especially over various holidays such as Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Veteran's Day. In honor of the United States flag, we will celebrate Independence Day with a patriotic party at the MAYC on July 3. Advanced lunch reservation by June 25 is required to attend.
