THE POWER OF MAGIC

Anuncle of ours who was able to make a coin disappear and magically make it reappear behind one of our ears provided us kids with our rst experience of magic. We’d be so impressed that we’d wonder for days just how he’d been able to do it.

And although we were easy targets because we were kids, adults were also left puzzled when this uncle would guess the card they had picked. It added to our sense of wonder and left us mesmerized. So it brought back fond memories to experience the same sense of bewilderment on the day of our photoshoot in the presence of the talented mentalist Kevin Hamdan.

Hamdan’s fascination with magic began early on, when his father showed him a fantastic card trick. But it wasn’t until his

“Some people are magic, and others are just the illusion of it.”
— Coretta Scott King

mom got ill when he was a teenager that his magical journey really began — he’d use magic as a way of keeping himself interested in life and it made what would otherwise have been a very troubling time more bearable. Later, when he realized how much happiness he was able to bring to others by showing them his magic tricks, he decided that magic was his calling and what he wanted to do as a career.

Too often, the world is full of bad news, so someone who uses magic to make us forget, even temporarily, some of the serious issues that face us in our everyday life is welcome — and yes, it’s not surprising that we nd such talented people fascinating. Just how do they do it? (Full story on page 46.)

Sometimes our sense of wonder is prompted by the magical spell of entering a room, when the spaces that welcome us evoke within us a deep sense of tranquility and enjoyment. at is the case with the aptly named Living Beauty, the retail space and spa created by the architectural studio Odami, which imaginatively evokes a modern apothecary. (Story on page 54.)

Staying with the topic of magic and storybook enchanted forests, we also bring you Orangeink Design’s Ravine House, a place that seamlessly blends modern design with the natural landscape of the forest that surrounds it. With its low ceilings and inward-facing rooms, the original house didn’t live up to its locale, and its indoor pool limited the home’s usable space. Orangeink’s award-winning redo has been nothing short of magical — without enlarging its footprint, it has transformed the space into an extraordinary home that is airy, light- lled and connected to nature.

To know that each of us has the power within us to delight, to make each other smile, or even to gasp in amazement — whether with our work, with our words, with a kind gesture, or, yes, with a magic card trick or a coin pulled from behind our ear — now that is truly magical!

We hope you enjoy this edition of City Life Magazine, and until the next edition we hope you continue to bring magic everywhere you go.

MÉLANIE CHERRIER & LAURENCE PONS LAVIGNE WITH CHARLES CAMPEAU

Paint’s ability to transform surfaces with colour, texture and nish is what makes it a standout aesthetic component to any space. For Mélanie Cherrier and Laurence Pons Lavigne of Blanc Marine Intérieurs, colour drives their signature look: timeless, elegant and e ortlessly modern. “Design lives in the details, and paint is a crucial one that can make or break the visual impact,” says Cherrier. Painter Charles Campeau has been their steady collaborator for over ve years. “What started as a simple referral evolved into a lasting partnership,” Lavigne notes. “Charles is meticulous and patient and brings a calm energy to each project.” For them, nish matters as much as hue.

ISABELLA WORSLEY & DAREK GOLABEK

For an interior designer, real creative freedom comes from the ability to shift — stylistically, conceptually and emotionally — depending on the project. London-based Isabella Worsley makes this exibility a core part of her process. “Being stylistically nimble is essential,” she says. One of her go-to tools? Paint. It brings her vision to life and often starts with fabric. Worsley typically begins with a woven texture to guide a space’s colour story. “A shade pulled from a textile feels more considered, more connected,” she explains. Her approach works seamlessly with that of painter Darek Golabek. “It’s a gift to work with someone who understands your shorthand,” Worsley adds.

GIANINA PAOLANTONIO: K KEEP ON DANCING

An exclusive interview with one of the world’s most in-demand dancers and choreographers, famous for turning any song into a viral billion-viewer hit

INTERVIEW BY MARC CASTALDO
GiaNina has established herself through movement

Success rarely happens overnight and for GiaNina Paolantonio it was a decade in the making. Ever since her Broadway debut at 9 years old in the production of Matilda, the only thing she banked on was her resilient work ethic, a discerning ear for music and being her most authentic self.

Usually, these days, when we think of dancers or choreographers we think of backup dancers in music videos or at a concert. But it’s Paolantonio’s choreography that is responsible for our favourite pop songs trending on TikTok and other platforms. Most notably, her viral Jennifer Lopez dance video of “On the Floor” has racked up over half a billion views, and then she did it again with Billie Eilish and Jessie Murph.

Today, Paolantonio works directly with the world’s biggest pop stars and music labels to choreograph dances designed for maximum impact, then launches them to her adoring four million followers to help ignite viral campaigns. She sells out tours across the U.S. and internationally, teaches weekly at L.A.’s top studios Millennium and Playground, and works on original music that blends choreography with emotional storytelling.

Paolantonio sat down with City Life for an exclusive interview, which was when I learned that she is proud to say that her greatest passion — for dance, movement and music — is also her business.

Q: When you choreograph for major pop stars, how do you balance your artistic expression with the hope that it goes viral?

A: Authenticity — the second you try too hard to be something or someone you’re not, everyone can see right through it. My team and I have been very picky throughout the years about who we work with and who to work for — simply because when all the things align, the best outcome will show.

Q: Do you ever feel pressure knowing your choreography can make or break a song’s success online?

A: Failing has always been a fear of mine, as it is for hundreds of others, but I try to remind myself that I’m capable of so much, and if something doesn’t work out the way it was planned to, it was always meant to be that way. You can’t always be on top, but you can certainly never give up and always try to be on.

Q: Can you walk us through your creative process?

A: To be completely honest, my creative process normally happens in my apartment kitchen or hotel bathrooms … I started recording those moments so that I can look back and show the world 10 years from now what it looked like.

Q: What keeps you grounded in such a fast-moving industry?

A: My family. There’s no one better.

Q: You’ve spoken about your Italian heritage before. How has your culture and upbringing influenced your creativity, work ethic or approach to performance?

A: I’m 100% Italian and over the years growing up in this industry I’ve grown into loving my naturally curly hair — I find it suits me best and is easiest for me to dance with. Having a lion’s mane of curls at the end of class means I worked hard, and leaning into that as I’ve gotten older has been one of my favourite things to show about me. Also, because of my Italian heritage, my work ethic is unmatched, and I get that from my family. It’s so ingrained in me.

Q: You’ve turned choreography into a full-blown business model. How do you approach the business side of your brand?

A: Thankfully, I have such an amazing team, which also happens to be family. Everyone always says no one will put their best foot forward more than

themselves and their own family and that’s how it’s been since the day I stepped into this world. I can only imagine how different my career would look if I didn’t have them behind me the entire time. I’m grateful to be involved in the business aspect as I’ve gotten older, to learn how to do these things and manage things on my own, but having a team is so crucial to look out for you.

Q: You’re now working on original music that blends choreography with emotional storytelling. Can you share what we might expect from that project?

A: Singing has been a part of my life for the past 10 years, ever since Broadway, and I knew the second I turned 19 last year I wanted to start writing music again. Being able to only write songs about personal experiences is a different art form. I didn’t know I needed it. It’s also a different type of therapy and release that I’m grateful to have. I always say it how it is in real life — so please expect that when I start to release music!

Q: What advice do you give young dancers hoping to make it in today’s digital-first dance industry?

A: I spent years and years putting myself out there to my fullest potential, hoping that someday it would land in front of the right person, and it finally did. You’ll never fail if you’re dedicated and passionate enough about your craft.

Q: Who continues to inspire you every day?

A: The people who want me to fail the most. People in this industry don’t clap for others, and they wonder why it’ll never be their turn. That will forever be the most motivating element. I strive to be the best of the best — and will for the rest of my career.

ZACH JOHN KING IS BUILDING A NEW KIND OF COUNTRY

A musician who doesn’t just sing about home — he writes his way back to it

With his newest single, “Space,” for Sony Music Nashville, the artist Zach John King leans into the quiet urgency that defines his music. Written with Michael

Lotten and Blake Pendergrass, “Space” is a reverent, roots-rock reflection on longing, simplicity and the aching need for stillness after too much motion. “I missed home. I missed simplicity,” King

says. “Most of all, I missed being out in God’s creation instead of surrounded by buildings.”

For an artist riding the momentum of a breakout year, that kind of vulnerability feels rare. But King’s catalogue is shaped by contrast. A lyricist before anything else, he crafts songs that oscillate between confessional intimacy and fullband release. The result is a brand of country music that feels both well-worn and wildly new.

Raised in Fayetteville, Georgia, King grew up in a multi-generational family of poets. His musical influences, however, stretch beyond tradition, from Otis Redding to Third Eye Blind and from George Jones to Biz Markie. It is an unlikely fusion, and one that emerges clearly in such songs as “Just Missed You” and “Wannabe Cowboy,” the latter a sparse, aching ballad that amassed over 5.6 million streams and earned King praise from critics and curators alike.

While most emerging artists are chasing radio hits, King is chasing the truth. His sound is minimalist and moody, more storytelling than spectacle. It is also gaining serious traction. In the past year and a half, King has toured with heavyweights like Morgan Wallen, Dylan Scott and Nate Smith, and his music has landed on such coveted playlists as Spotify’s “New Boots” and “Fresh Country.”

Still, King keeps his compass close. His latest EP, Slow Down, makes space for sonic risk-taking while still foregrounding his signature grit. It is an offering made not for the masses, but for those who need a place to land.

As he prepares to hit the road again this fall with Luke Bryan and Gavin Adcock, King remains focused on the long game. His songs are less about chasing the next thing, more about anchoring to what matters. If “Space” is any indication, Zach John King is not only poised for country stardom, but he is also redefining what that stardom can sound like.

PAC BUILDING GROUP: TEN YEARS OF REDEFINING THE GENERAL CONTRACTING EXPERIENCE

Marking a decade of excellence, growth, and service across Ontario’s building industry

Injust over a decade, PAC

Building Group has grown from a single project to a powerhouse serving multiple sectors across Ontario. Co-owners David Petrozza and Domenic Arcuri launched the company with a bold pilot project: the renovation of a 22-storey high-rise in Toronto. The results spoke for themselves — the building was recognized as one of the best renovated in the city that year, earning

praise from multiple industry associations such as the Federation of Rental-Housing Providers of Ontario (FRPO).

“The project went very, very well,” Petrozza recalls. “That was when we knew we had something special.”

What came next was steady, strategic growth. Over the past ten years, PAC has earned a reputation for excellence across an impressive range of construction services: condominium refurbishments,

commercial developments, institutional facilities, industrial builds, multi-residential projects, and public-sector work. This breadth of expertise is a point of pride for the partners.

“Our versatility allows us to take on complex, large-scale projects without sacrificing quality,” says Arcuri. “We’ve worked on everything from high-end condo revitalizations to new-build industrial warehouses, school board projects,

municipal infrastructure, and apartment suite turnovers. That diversity has made us stronger and more resilient as a company.”

A key driver of that growth has been an early and sustained commitment to building a skilled, motivated team. “We realized from the start that to take on bigger and more complex work, we needed to invest in our people and create systems that deliver results,” Arcuri explains. Those systems — built on efficiency, accountability, and attention to detail — are now embedded in every stage of PAC’s operations.

This approach is what Petrozza and Arcuri call The PAC Experience: a company-wide standard of transparency, clear communication, and exceptional service. But it’s not just about process — it’s also about image. The company’s black-

Petrozza adds, “Right from the get-go, when you see our brand, we want people to know that it means something. It reflects strength, precision and integrity.”

In an increasingly competitive industry, PAC has distinguished itself by ensuring clients always have an up-to-date comprehensive overview of their project. “Clients always know where their project stands — financially and physically. That transparency builds trust.” Arcuri notes. “Our clients know we’re accountable, and that’s why so much of our business comes from repeat partnerships.”

At the heart of PAC’s success is the partnership between Petrozza and Arcuri. Their shared values and mutual respect

set the tone for the entire organization, fostering a workplace culture built on teamwork, ambition, and pride of ownership. Each of their 35 employees — from site supervisors to project managers — is empowered to take responsibility and contribute to the company’s high standards. This commitment was recently recognized with a 97% employee-satisfaction score and PAC’s inclusion on the 2025 Best Workplaces in Real Estate & Construction list by Great Place to Work® Canada.

As PAC celebrates its 10th anniversary, the milestone is more than a marker of longevity — it’s a symbol of proven capability and momentum for the future. The company is already expanding its footprint in the industrial and institutional sectors, with large-scale projects such

For all project shapes and sizes, PAC simplifies everything into one point of responsibility, partnering with clients to build distinctive spaces for the way

as industrial warehouses and municipal facilities now part of its portfolio. Longstanding divisions like condominium refurbishment and multi-residential development continue to grow, supported by a trusted reputation in both the private and public sectors.

Public-sector work, such as for government agencies and municipalities, requires rigorous prequalification processes, and PAC’s track record has earned it a place among a select group of contractors trusted to deliver these highstakes projects.

For PAC Building Group, the first ten years have been about building trust, expertise, and a brand that clients can count on. Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond, Petrozza and Arcuri see a future defined

by bigger builds, stronger partnerships, and continued diversification.

Petrozza concludes, “We’ve had a great first 10 years, but we’re just getting started.”

THE RAVINE HOUSE: WHERE MODERN BONES MEET NATURE’S LIGHT

In Mississauga’s leafy Lorne Park neighbourhood, a once-dim bungalow has been transformed into an award-winning residence

This Mississauga Lorne Park project transformed a 1960s four-bedroom, threebath bungalow on a lush, 105 ft by 600 ft treed lot

The Ravine House demonstrates how modern design can blend seamlessly with natural landscapes. The project used creativity to overcome strict conservation regulations, earning Toronto studio Orangeink Design the jury prize in the Residential Renovation & Addition category at the 2025 Architizer A+ Awards.

Set 250 feet (76 metres) back from the street and perched above Mississauga’s Lornewood Creek, the property is defined by its forested locale. The original 1960s four-bedroom home, however, didn’t live up to its dramatic surroundings. With low ceilings, inward-facing rooms, and an indoor pool that limited usable space, it lacked the sense of connection to the ravine that such a site begged for. Orangeink Design’s vision was to change that, working within limits to expansion on three sides while still crafting a home that felt airy, light-filled, and deeply connected to nature.

dining, and living areas has been replaced with an open plan anchored by a relocated fireplace. At the home’s heart, a new staircase frames one of its most defining features: a 140-squarefoot living green wall and freshwater

pond. Bringing nature indoors not only creates a stunning showpiece but improves air quality while visually extending the interior out into the lush ravine landscape.

Respecting the home’s “good bones”

meant rethinking outdoor living without enlarging the footprint. That meant trading the indoor pool for an all-season covered patio. The primary bedroom gains a quiet retreat in the form of a balcony, while a treehouse-

like rooftop deck crowns the whole suite. At the front, an elevated boardwalk and courtyard framed by reclaimed-brick walls create a new social hub.

For Orangeink Design, known for its clean lines and nuanced approach to light and space, Ravine House exemplifies the firm’s commitment to always work sensitively within an existing context while elevating the ordinary into the extraordinary. Partnering with Structure Corp. and RDC Construction Ltd., the 4,620-square-foot renovation was completed in May 2023 and has since drawn acclaim not only for its architectural finesse but also for the way it allows its residents to live both with and within nature. Ultimately, the Ravine House is less about building something new than about revealing what was already there: the light, the views, the relationship between home and ravine.

VICTORIA RINSMA BRINGS CANADIAN FLAVOURS TO THE WORLD STAGE

Oakville chef Victoria Rinsma will showcase home stories, traditions and flavours at the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Grand Finale in Milan this October

Victoria Rinsma, sous chef at Michelin-recognized Hexagon, in Oakville, Ont., has earned her place among the world’s top 15 emerging culinary talents after winning the Canadian title last year. Her signature dish, “Across the Sea and Home Again,” is both personal and deeply Canadian, East Coast comfort refined by the contemporary techniques she has perfected in the Hexagon kitchen.

“It’s the purest form of expression of my culinary journey,” she has said of the dish, which combines innovation with flavours inspired by her grandmother’s cooking. That combination helped her rise to the top in a national competition judged by some of the country’s most respected chefs.

Now she will test it under the scrutiny of an international grand jury in Milan, a panel of globally renowned chefs who will decide which of the finalists will earn the ultimate prize: S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Award 2024-25.

The competition is considered to be one of the most prestigious stages for young culinary professionals, spotlighting not just technical ability but creativity, sustainability and storytelling through food. For Rinsma, it’s a chance to bring Canadian ingredients and identity to a global audience.

Rinsma, who hails from Pickering, Ont., found a mentor in Hexagon’s executive chef, Rafael Covarrubias, who himself claimed the Canadian title

in 2019 and represented the country in Milan in 2021. His guidance has provided both technical support and a roadmap for navigating the highstakes atmosphere of an international culinary competition.

That sense of continuity, of one generation of chefs lifting the next, is helping to elevate Canadian cuisine, which is increasingly defined on the international stage by diversity, regionality and innovation Rinsma’s work at Hexagon exemplifies that blend, pairing locally driven ingredients with precise globally informed techniques.

In Milan, she will share the stage with peers from every corner of the

world: chefs from Hong Kong, Panama, Slovenia, South Africa, the United States and the United Kingdom. Each chef will present a dish shaped by their own culture and training, mentored by some of the world’s leading chefs. Together, they represent the future of gastronomy.

For Rinsma that future is rooted in memory as much as ambition. By channelling her grandmother’s East Coast flavours into a dish crafted for one of the world’s most demanding culinary competitions, she bridges past and present, home and away.

WITH MENTALIST DECODING THE ART OF MAGIC KEVIN HAMDAN

www.mycitylife.ca

Kevin Hamdan sheds light on his childhood, life lessons and his journey to being ‘Canada’s Top Mentalist’

Since ancient times, magic has fascinated people by igniting their sense of awe and wonder. Cutting across cultures and boundaries, it breaks the monotony of everyday life and transports people to a world of imagination. But as Warren Buffett once remarked, “People will always try to stop you from doing the right thing if it is unconventional,” and one professional practice that often finds itself in the crosshairs of public scrutiny and judgment is that of magic and mentalism. Magic has many negative connotations, with people often not realizing how deeply rooted it is in our psychology and the excitement it invites from those who engage with it.

And the career of one of Canada’s top mentalists, Kevin Hamdan, is a testament to how making unconventional choices by following one’s heart can lead to incredible success. Not even 30, he already has a massive follower base on Instagram and YouTube.

Hamdan, who was born in Toronto and raised in Vaughan, attributes his early interest in magic to his father. He and his dad used to watch Criss Angel and David Blaine on TV, he

Renowned for his unmatched ability to read minds, influence decisions, and captivate audiences with unforgettable performances

‘‘
IF YOU DO WHAT YOU LOVE, YOU WILL NEVER WORK A DAY IN YOUR LIFE”

says, and he vividly recalls the surreal moment when he was six years old and his father showed him a fantastic card trick for the very first time.

Reminiscing about his journey, he shares how, as a kid, he would showcase his magic tricks to his classmates in school, but it was something he got

bullied and teased for when he reached Grade 8. So throughout Grades 9 and 10, he began to keep his magic skills a secret.

He describes his parents as people full of life and great energy who have always tried to find ways to make the best of situations. In his own case, when

his mother was ill and in and out of hospitals when he was a teenager, it was magic that became his saving grace, keeping him distracted and invested in life. It was then that he began to look at magic as having the ability to transport him beyond his everyday worries into a new world,

and could do that for others as well.

In Grade 11, he began showcasing his tricks again and saw how it connected with people’s emotions.

His mother had always stressed the significance of education, which led him to York University to study jazz guitar. On Day One, he showed his magic

tricks to his fellow students, evoking collective screams of appreciation. It was at that moment that he decided to make a career out of magic. He credits social media as the first step that offered him a pool of opportunities to showcase his talent.

Hamdan’s combination of mentalism and comedy plays on a range of emotions to offer his audience fullcircle entertainment. He borrows from comedians — and says he has massive respect for them because they rely just on their jokes — but observes that unlike comedians, mentalists also have a fallback: if their jokes don’t land, they will always have magic up their sleeve.

He has enjoyed performing for such celebrities as mixed martial artist Israel Adesanya, American actor Ryan Phillippe and for many other influential figures, and showing his art form to Canadian sensation Drake, someone he has looked up to from an early age, who is “one of the greatest to ever do it” and has now grown into a friend — is a surreal experience, he says.

He describes the experience of unlocking a young woman’s phone on the street and her priceless reaction to it, sharing how she ran and how her friends started singing church songs, saying that it had to be “some dark art stuff!”

He notes that, as a mentalist, he doesn’t take himself very seriously. For him, his craft is his persona, but he’s more interested in resonating with his audience and giving them a collective and fascinating experience. When asked which audience reactions he enjoys the most, he says that whether people shout, gasp or remain completely silent in awe and disbelief, their reactions are all special and important to him — he loves seeing the emotional impact his performances have on people,

and stresses that this response is not centred on inflating his own ego but is empathetic, with the pleasure of giving people something they will remember for the rest of their life.

Hamdan’s success has also attracted criticism, backlash and even hate, but he says that haters exist in every genre, and that a heckler’s animosity often starts from curiosity. He wants everyone to know that his tricks are never staged and that every person he performs for is a random stranger.

Sharing his greatest life lesson, he observes that it’s important to be human and care for other people. He believes in practicing empathy both in life and online, and not to post anything that makes other people look bad.

Another important rule for him is to always remember that Day One. “You can get lost in the chaos of varied reactions,” he says, “and therefore it is so important to remember why you started and keep that burning desire alive,” that we have one life and should make the most of it.

When asked how his younger self would react to today’s Kevin, he adds that the younger Kevin would be ecstatic, as he used to love watching magicians performing in Las Vegas and other big cities. At the same time, there would be an element of skepticism, where he wouldn’t believe that he’d have been able to make such a successful and enriching career as a mentalist.

He concludes by saying that although he hasn’t seen the entire world, the one thing he has learned is that life is magic He strongly believes that the sky’s the limit, and if you are passionate about something, don’t get demotivated by what others say.

Hamdan received some advice from his father that has stayed with him throughout his long journey: “If you

A social media force with over one million followers, Hamdan showcases his craft to a global audience
Whether performing for people on the street or working with celebrities, Hamdan creates moments of pure astonishment and lasting memories

PAINTS A TRADITIONAL APOTHECARY WITH MODERN STROKES

Odami’s latest work for Living Beauty gives a functional and visually compelling dimension to its retail space and treatment spa

Odami is one of the first names that comes to mind when thinking of great Toronto architectural and design studios. The studio embraces differences and is a place where productive discussion and interaction spark creative ideas.

The studio’s areas of expertise include full-service commercial-space design, residential architecture, and the design of functional furniture and other objects

and materials, designing its own playful takes on the familiar and the unknown, the imaginary and the realistic, the subtle and the spectacular.

Now Odami has taken another step in demonstrating its creative prowess with its latest project. The new retail space and treatment spa for the popular luxury beauty brand, Living Beauty, in Toronto’s Christie Pits neighbourhood, has been designed to offer clients a personalized, one-to-one experience.

What sets the space apart is Odami’s reinvention of the traditional apothecary, which adds a fresh identity to the brand.

Traditional apothecaries provided private consultations on either side of a counter, and with their dark wood panelling, labelled jars and intricate little drawers holding hidden mysteries, held a special place throughout history, evoking a sense of imagination, intrigue and care.

In contrast, while Living Beauty’s alcoves subtly reference the design language of apothecaries, they are thoroughly modern, utilizing modular systems, simple fabrication techniques and contemporary materials like powder-coated steel shelving.

In this way, Odami has reimagined an antique yet still-resonant environment, creating a significant interior design identity for Living Beauty. This is also reflected in the subtly arched product bays, whose ample drawer space for extra stock creates a multiplied form tracing the perimeter. In fact, every section displays a unique modern facet and contributes to making the space both functional and visually enriching.

Adding an element of unpredictability, the lively and cozy reception serves as a transition between the visual stimulation of the store and the tranquillity of the Living Beauty spa.

Once beyond its fluted glass window, the spa creates a unique space for rest and relaxation. Odami has created a highgloss cube to delineate distinct treatment rooms, a reflective shape that interacts with mirrored millwork, antique sconces, and cove lighting to create a feeling of light in the hallways.

Odami works to emphasize each of their clients’ unique brand identities to the fullest, working directly with them to design spaces that are experimental, self-assured, and heavily influenced by their sense of place.

In this instance, Living Beauty’s predominantly warm color scheme is unexpectedly and refreshingly contrasted with crisp, mint-toned structural accents. The middle of the space features a straightforward yet distinctive design that creates a strong visual trail leading to the threshold where the store opens

into the treatment room.

Anchored by Breccia flooring, the clay-toned millwork departs from the dark wood of traditional apothecaries to provide a light, consistent background for various items and branding.

Each bay is a separate service counter topped with mottled Oniciata marble. Rounded tambour paneling with bevels at both ends form a rhythmic geometric pattern that adds texture and intrigue as you move through the store. Porcelain floor tiles with terracotta tones form a concentric pattern that sweeps joyously

Terracotta-toned porcelain floor tiles form a sweeping, concentric pattern, guiding movement through the store and toward the treatment area with visual flow and energy

from one side of the store to the other, uniting these delicate curves.

At the front of the store, there are off-white display tables and bonecolored Corian pedestals and banquettes upholstered in Tempest 002 Mist from Knoll Textiles. All the store’s pendant lights and sconces are antiques.

Highlighting Odami’s vision of seamlessly adding depth and character is a large wraparound bar designed for social interaction, which personalizes the space even further and is in harmony with Living Space’s values and mission.

With its beautiful blend of spatial functionality and aesthetics, history and modernity, Odami has created a distinctly fresh personality for Living Beauty’s retail space and treatment spa.

CREATIVE CLASS STUDIO’S TORONTO DÉBUT

Creative Class Studio, a new immersive art experience in Toronto’s Rosedale, is redefining how children engage with creativity, community, and nature. Founded by Rana Florida and Amanda Elliott, the Studio offers monthly workshops inspired by legendary artists including Frida Kahlo, Damien Hirst, the Haas Brothers, Kenny Scharf and Yayoi Kusama. Students participate in guided projects, from self-portraits with “kindred animals” to graffiti skateboard decks and patterned pumpkins to foster imagination, emotional growth, and collaboration. Each session encourages conversation, hands-on creation and real-world connection around a communal table designed for shared learning. By providing a “third space” away from screens and overstimulation, Creative Class Studio supports children’s well-being, social-emotional development and creative confidence. This innovative program combines art, storytelling and nature to inspire curiosity and joy, offering young participants a meaningful, playful and educational pause in their daily lives.
