Last month, we had three assessment days for Operational Response at Here East, led by Operations Director, Kieron Nunney.
On 22nd September, Senior Talent Resourcing Specialist, Darcie Alabaster attended an assessment day at Here East alongside Site Security Account Manager at HereEast, Tudor Williams.
The session welcomed nine attendees and we were pleased to extend three job offers following the session, with an additional candidate, Talent Resourcing Specialist, Mafalda Oliveira being considered for another role within Here East.
On the 1st October, Mafalda Oliveira attended an assessment day alongside Kieron Nunney and Security Manager, Tom McCrone. The purpose of this was to recruit a new 5* response pool under Kieron’s portfolio.
We had two sessions with 20 attendees and the day resulted in 12 job offers including an offer for Paternoster Square and Warwick Court’s dedicated response vacancy. We also had a further two candidates put forward for other vacancies within the business.
On the 17th September, we hosted an assessment day for operational response, where 3 job offers were made. The assessment days involved group activities and individual interviews, all aimed at identifying top talent for CIS Security.
LSST Job Fairs
On the 18th and 28th of October, the Recruitment, People, and ESG teams represented CIS at the London School of Science and Technology job fairs. The two events were held on separate days, the first focused on Health and Social Care students, and the second on Business Management students. Both fairs were highly successful, generating strong interest from attendees, and we were particularly encouraged by the number of students keen to explore career opportunities within the industry.
DWP Camden – Job fair
On the 17th of October, Shelby Martin, Talent Resourcing Specialist, and the ESG Department attended the DWP Camden Job Fair at the Emirates Stadium, home of Arsenal FC. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with job seekers, share insights into our ESG initiatives, and discuss career pathways in sustainability. We also networked with local employers and partners, exploring future collaboration opportunities. The iconic venue added an inspiring backdrop to a productive and engaging day.
On the 29th of September, Georgina Martin, Head of Talent Resourcing, attended the ‘Get to Know’ session for the Growing Talent programme, meeting with 66 applicants, the highest number to date!
Following this, on the 6th of October, Mafalda Oliveira, Talent Resorucing Specialist, Peter McMichael (SOM at PwC) and Vaivika Nikandrova, Front of House Account Manager, attended PwC for the second session which featured speed‑dating style interviews, a total of 38 applicants took part in group activities. We were so happy with the event which was a great success.
As a result, four candidates were offered positions across Kieron Nunney’s 5* Response Team, One Creechurch Place, FOH Elect, and Savills 5* Response, who will provide support across all Savills sites. The Resourcing Team will continue collaborating with the Growing Talent programme, with the next cohort set to begin in February 2026.
On Thursday 13th November, Darcie Alabaster, Senior Talent Resourcing Specialist, Mafalda Oliveira, Talent Resorucing Specialist and Shelby Martin, Talent Resourcing Specialist, together with Ben Foster, Head of Security Operations Centre (SOC) and Robert Harrison, Site Manager, attended a recruitment assessment day in partnership with Ingeus. The event was delivered across two sessions and welcomed more than 20 candidates.
We are delighted to share that the day was a great success, resulting in 11 job offers being made, with two additional candidates under consideration for other roles. It was a valuable opportunity to meet enthusiastic and motivated individuals while exploring potential placements across our sites.
Ingeus continues to play a crucial role in supporting individuals who may face barriers to employment. Through tailored coaching, skills development, and structured guidance, they help candidates build confidence, strengthen employability, and provide access to work opportunities.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to Jenny and Clayton, whose dedication and collaboration over the past year have been instrumental in the success of this partnership.
REMEMBRANCE DAY
On the 11th November, CIS joined the nation in remembrance, honouring the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve our country. At 11 am, our teams across the business came together to observe the two‑minute silence, reflecting on the bravery and selflessness of the Armed Forces, both past and present.
Many within the CIS family have a personal connection to the Armed Forces, and we take great pride in supporting veterans, reservists, and their families as part of our wider community.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our teams on the ground who volunteered their time and efforts in raising funds for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. Your dedication and compassion truly embody the spirit of remembrance and community that this day represents.
Their values of commitment, integrity, and respect continue to inspire the work we do every day. We remember them.
We honour them. We will never forget.
Last month, CIS was pleased to collaborate with London Borough of Hackney (LBH) to deliver a Female Safety and Behavioural Awareness Seminar. The session was led by our in‑house Behavioural Detection & Training Specialist, Simon Riley, who focused on important, practical ways to stay aware and confident in different environments.
FEMALE SAFETY SEMINAR SMOKE AND MIRRORS
Simon stated:
“It is and was a huge privilege to deliver this safety seminar. To have access to such a varied and knowledgeable audience from the Hackney Council ‘team’, was an opportunity not to be wasted.
I am very passionate about the safety of our community and how we protect, give confidence and develop skill-set. This was a huge team effort, as community safety should always be….and to also get the opportunity to run a
‘live’ walk and talk - this was a first and highlight of my working week. London is a safe city, it is full of good people and life is to be enjoyed.”
Tracy Spallin on behalf of LBH shares;
“It was brilliant to see so many women from different departments across the Council join the safety seminar run by CIS. Thankfully incidents affecting our staff are rare, but I know those who attended really valued the practical advice to help keep them safe.”
It was a valuable and engaging discussion with great input from everyone who attended. A big thank you to Simon for leading the day and to Michael D, Ray Marskell MSyl, and London Borough of Hackney for supporting this important initiative.
COLLABORATION
Earlier this month the Metropolitan Police’s Working at Height Team carried out a training exercise at The Leadenhall Building. Police officers worked closely with The Leadenhall Building’s on‑site security team from CIS, to test and refine responses to a series of realistic scenarios. These included dealing with protestors gaining access to the roof, individuals abseiling down the building with a small banner, and responding to a simulated medical emergency at height.
This was the first time the Metropolitan Police’s rope team had been able to train on a building of this scale, offering a unique opportunity to rehearse procedures in a real‑world environment. The exercise provided valuable learning for all involved and reinforced the importance of close partnership between the police, property management, and private sector security teams in keeping the city safe.
Head of Security at The Leadenhall Building, Joe Easterbrook, stated: “We were delighted to host the Metropolitan Police Working at Height Team for this exercise. The scale of The Leadenhall Building offered a rare and challenging environment for the officers to operate in, and the collaboration between our teams was exceptional. Exercises like this not only strengthen our joint preparedness but also act as a visible deterrent to any potential hostile activity.”
This exercise highlights the power of collaboration and preparedness, ensuring that both public and private teams are ready to respond effectively to any incident at height. Well done to everyone involved!
SAFETY SEMINAR
Earlier this month, CIS were honoured to host ‘The Season of Care,’ an insightful and engaging seminar about staying safe, well, and supported during the festive season.

The sessions were both informative and inspiring, shedding light on how these fantastic organisations are addressing some of the most pressing issues surrounding safety, wellbeing, and community care.
It’s great to see such collaboration and shared commitment to making a difference, especially during the festive season.
As we head into the holidays, remember safety starts with awareness, care, and looking out for one another. Let’s keep the festive spirit alive by keeping each other safe.
A special thank you to The Financial Times for kindly hosting us at their premises and supporting this vital initiative.
CIS COVERT PROJECT: PHASE 1 COMPLETE
The end of October marked the successful completion of Phase 1 of the CIS Covert Project - a major step in advancing covert capability and layered security across key CIS locations.
Led by our CIS Behavioural Detection & Training Specialist, Simon Riley, this project has been delivered in collaboration with our Head of Security & Safety at London Bridge City, John REYNOLDS MSyl.
Simon stated; “I have been very impressed with the maturity, enthusiasm, and drive of the covert cadre. I have been very fortunate to have the operational support of London Bridge City Head of Security, John Reynolds, and this has provided extra support and direction for the team, which will only benefit the long-term aims of this project. The early successes of the teams have been a fair reward for their huge
efforts and I am very excited for both the next stage and how we layer this further into CIS contracts, moving forward.”
John Reynolds, Head of Security and Safety at London Bridge City stated; “The first phase of this project saw a handful of our most talented officers being challenged to a new way of thinking and operating. They have all stepped up to the demands and are already demonstrating an additional unique layer of security for our key sites. We now look forward to delivering a safe and secure Winter Market at London Bridge City utilising our covert cadre.”
As we move towards the London Bridge City Winter by the River event deployment, CIS continues to strengthen proactive detection, deterrence and operational readiness across our critical and high-profile sites.
