42 The Essential Guide to Remarkable Art for Modern Collectors

FEARLESS, 2021 by Gayle Printz A World Master Artist

Painting at Full Velocity: The Uncompromising Modern Abstractionism of Gayle Printz Work Title

Media used Dimensioins World Master Artist, Gayle Printz, broke into the contemporary art world with an intensity that mirrors her paintings. Based in the U.S.A., Printz began painting following an accomplished academic and professional career, including studies at the University of Pennsylvania, Boston University School of Law, and Interlochen Arts Academy. It wasn’t until the darkest days of the pandemic, that she tried her hand at painting—a shift that was decisive and transformative. Her aim, to provide viewers the freedom to find emotional meaning in the intangible by evoking the unconscious use of their imaginations, remains central to her artwork, and we see this intention clearly reflected in the power, depth, and physical presence of her work. Internationally acclaimed, Printz has received overwhelming recognition, and her artwork is held in permanent museum and private collections worldwide. Her career trajectory is particularly striking in its momentum and consistency. She is firmly established as a highly collectible artist whose work circulates actively across the most-esteemed global markets, exhibitions, and publications. Printz’s ever-expanding body of work continues to evolve at an extraordinary pace. Having painted over 300 paintings in five short years, Printz is remarkably prolific. Her works transcend boundaries and blend genres. The paintings have created a unique form of visual expression with a voice that speaks an unmistakable language never before heard. It is a universal language that reaches the depths of our communal soul, making Printz’s extraordinary contributions so enduring. Though Printz has been compared to the great masters of abstractionism—Jackson Pollock, Joan Mitchell and Gerard Richter— her paintings maintain a strikingly distinct individuality. As did Pollock, Printz embodies spontaneity, allowing instinct and passion to guide her. Like Mitchell, Printz’s canvases are built through thoughtful gesture, layered movement, and an innate sensitivity to rhythm and surface. Printz’s paintings pulsate with energy. Densely textured layers collide with sweeping arcs of color, delicate dripping, and dynamic marks that refuse passivity. In both artist’s works, the potent textural blend inspires fascination. But, in the case of Gayle Printz, there is a serene spiritual intensity beneath the layers that is uniquely her own. Following her heart, Gayle Printz uses art to present a singular perspective, in an unprecedented manner, with a groundbreaking technical mastery that distinguishes her paintings from the work of everyone to whom she has been compared. Analyzing the profoundly resonating universal themes that connect us to one another, Printz’s artwork compels even the most hesitant viewer to examine their innermost feelings to identify the personal, emotional and spiritual significance of her work. Printz’s paintings command introspection through the aesthetic intensity of her color choices. Whether using a luminous pallet, pastels or a blend of fiery hues, the chromatic vibrance of Printz’s work pulsates with a meditative harmony produced by her focus on the synergistic effects of color. Printz boldly uses color without hesitation, often pushed to the edge of excess, yet intentionally held together by her intuitive sense of balance, energy, and control. Her work does not rest in any defined genre. Rather, her legacy extends to a new highly distinctive, contemporary visual language that is unmistakably hers. We see in her paintings a confident expansion into a remarkable genre of her own—a genre in which physical action, emotional intensity, and compositional clarity coexist without compromise.

SAUNTER, 2025 Acrylic on Canvas, Three panels Ea. 18 x 24 in.

Fearlessly crossing traditional boundaries, Printz has established an enduring new genre in which each painting represents the power of creativity to unite, heal and inspire. Her paintings are cultural expressions of freedom and emotional immediacy. It is a genre named Modern Abstractionism by contemporary art experts. It is a genre of artistic expression that has yet to be spoken in such a distinctive voice—visceral yet heartfelt, intellectual yet personal, and all the while reminding us of the power inherent in the universal language of art. What ultimately sets Gayle Printz apart is the force of character behind her work. Printz brings to painting the same strength, boldness, wit, and determination that define her very presence. She is unapologetic and persuasive, a true artistic force who does not look to rules for an answer and will not dilute her vision to satisfy the expectations of others. This conviction is palpable in her work. Her paintings are deeply engaging, commanding attention through her confidence and intent rather than spectacle alone. As a highly collectible artist with a rapidly expanding international footprint, Gayle Printz is poised to leave a lasting mark on the contemporary art world. Her work stands as a beacon in the art world, a clear example of creative authenticity, technical mastery, authorship, and an instinctive understanding of the human condition.

Do Not Be Afraid of Art On Discovering the Collector Within

Y

our favorite work of art is out there waiting for you to discover it. You may not know what it looks like yet, and that is part of the pleasure. Art does not demand urgency or expertise. It reveals itself slowly, often when you least expect it, in a moment of recognition that feels personal and unmistakable.

Gayle Printz

Kat Kleinman

One of the most persistent myths about art is that it is always expensive and inaccessible. This simply is not true. Art exists at various price points, in many forms, and across countless practices. Drawings, works on paper, photographs, small paintings, editions, and emerging artists offer meaningful entry points into collecting. What matters is not the scale or the price, but the connection. A thoughtful collection is not built through extravagance, but through curiosity and attention.

Building a collection is an act of discovery. It is exciting to curate, to notice patterns emerging, to realize that certain colors, moods, or themes recur because they resonate with you. Over time, a collection becomes a portrait of its owner, shaped not by trends, but by personality. There is great pleasure in this process, in watching your walls slowly fill with meaning and memory, each work carrying its own story of how it entered your life.

Arides R. Pichardo

Abda Fayyaz

Yes, art can be a strong financial investment but that is only part of the appeal. Its deeper value lies elsewhere. Living with art is an investment in yourself, in your inner world, your sensibility, and your sense of identity. The works you choose reflect who you are and who you want to become. They speak quietly but clearly about taste, values, and confidence. Art communicates something about you long before you ever say a word.

Art is culture in its most essential form. Artists are its guardians, observing, questioning, imagining, and translating the world around us into visual language. Supporting artists is not just about acquiring objects, but about sustaining creative voices and ensuring that culture remains alive, diverse, and responsive. When you collect art, you participate in this ecosystem. You become part of a larger conversation that stretches beyond the studio and into the future.

Don’t Be Afraid of Art! · Spotlight 42 · 14 ·

Many people are afraid of art! They believe they must be connoisseurs or experts to engage with it properly. This fear keeps them at a distance. In reality, art does not require permission. You do not need art history or critics to tell you what you like. If a work draws you in, stirs something emotional, or lingers in your thoughts, that response is enough. You are the judge. Art begins with feeling, not explanation. Vincent Wang

Collecting art is not about status or perfection. It is about presence. It is about choosing to live with things that matter, that reflect care and imagination. Everyone has an inner collector. The only requirement is the willingness to listen to it.

Precious Burger

At its best, art awakens emotion and enriches daily life. It brings beauty, color, and joy into our surroundings. Art carries a quiet sense of luxury and sophistication, not because it is exclusive, but because it asks us to slow down and pay attention. Waking up next to an artwork that resonates with you, perhaps reminding you of something meaningful or simply making you smile, subtly changes the rhythm of your day. These moments accumulate. They shape how we live.

Carolina Veranen-Phillips

Trust your instincts and enjoy the discovery! Leaf through the following pages and let the art and artists featured here meet you where you are, and perhaps guide you toward artwork that has been waiting for you all along.

“My work explores the quiet collision between inner worlds and wild elements. At the ocean’s edge, identity loosens and truth surfaces. Wind, waves, and motion reveal what words cannot — innocence, defiance, longing, transformation. I’m drawn to archetypes: the angel, the wanderer, the warrior. Each frame is a meeting of energies — the subject, the landscape, and my own — where the human spirit becomes unmasked.”

Today, as an artist, I process my own story through images, often in self portraits or graphic novels, in which emotions and life itself unite through colors and forms. In this way, my personal fate also takes on a universal human significance. This helps me accept life as it is and find happiness and fulfillment.”

· 113 · Spotlight 42 · Jean-Jacques Porret

Temps Perdu II Cast Bronze (Edition of 3) 65 in.

Cast in Balance: The Evocative Forms of Jean-Jacques Porret Sculptor Jean-Jacques Porret began shaping material at an early age, drawn instinctively to carving and woodwork through a self-directed and deeply tactile relationship with form. His artistic development was guided not by formal academic structures but through close exchanges with established sculptors, among them Arnaldo Pomodoro, Etienne-Martin Chilida, Ramseyer, Etrog, and Henry Moore. These encounters sharpened his sensitivity to volume, balance, and material intelligence, eventually leading him toward bronze and the demanding discipline of lost-wax casting, a medium he embraced for its responsiveness and physical warmth. Porret’s practice is grounded in sculpture that is figurative in appearance but resolutely abstract in intention. Working primarily in bronze, often combined with stone or marble bases, he constructs forms that suggest the human body while refusing narrative or literal depiction. His career has unfolded internationally, with works held in private and public collections across Europe, Japan, and the United States. Across decades of practice, his focus has remained consistent: pursuing a sense of internal rightness, a precise equilibrium between tension and repose. His sculptures evolve slowly, shaped by a continuous dialogue between material resistance and intuitive decision-making. The sculptures themselves unfold through fluid, looping contours that appear to twist, lean, and suspend themselves in space. Limbs dissolve into arcs, torsos become rhythmic volumes, and gravity feels negotiated rather than obeyed. The surfaces are smooth yet alive, carrying subtle shifts of light that activate the form as the viewer moves around it. These works recall the organic abstraction of Henry Moore or Barbara Hepworth, yet Porret’s figures are more precarious, more charged with inner motion. The sense of imbalance is intentional, creating a physical metaphor for emotional states that are unresolved, searching, or quietly unstable. The sculptures do not depict emotion so much as embody it. What gives Porret’s work its quiet authority is his ability to translate intangible states into sculptural clarity. His figures hold tension without strain, abstraction without detachment. Each piece feels resolved yet open, complete yet questioning. By using the language of the body to communicate something fundamentally internal, Porret offers sculptures that reward prolonged looking and physical engagement. His contribution lies in this sustained commitment to emotional abstraction, where form becomes a vessel for sensation and balance is achieved not through symmetry, but through attentiveness and restraint.

“Achieving a sense of “rightness,” even in the most uncertain circumstances, is the motivating concept behind my sculpture.”
