Steve Hebert attended both Reedley College and College of the Sequoias before transferring to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to complete his bachelor’s degree in physical education in 1984. He began his career in education in the fall of 1985 teaching science at Hosier Middle School in Lynnwood and in 1986 was hired at his high school alma mater, Dinuba High School in California’s Central Valley, where he served as a science teacher as well as JV football and JV basketball coach and head golf coach. After two years at Dinuba, he accepted a position at Monrovia High School in Southern California as an instructor and head boys’ basketball coach, also coaching football and baseball.
In 1991, Steve left Monrovia to become the boys’ basketball coach and health teacher at Don Lugo High School in Chino. At that time, he also completed his master’s degree at Azusa Pacific University. During his five years at Don Lugo, he became deeply involved in league and CIF Southern Section administration, serving as the master scheduler for all 22 sports across the six schools in the Baseline League, acting as athletic director for three years, and writing multiple pieces of legislation that remain in practice within the CIF Southern Section. In 2001, Steve left Don Lugo to accept a position at Rio Hondo College. Hebert served the California Community College Men’s Basketball Coaches Association as a board member for nine years and was president of the association from 2010-12. He is an active member of the California Community College Athletic Director’s Association and serves on several state committees.

Jerry De Fabiis has dedicated his life to excellence in interscholastic basketball as a coach, leader, and administrator. Married to his wife Jennifer for more than 30 years, he is the proud father of three sons— Luke, Caleb, and Rocco. He began his coaching career as head coach at Ontario High School before building a championship legacy at Colony High School, where his teams achieved sustained success at the highest levels. Over his distinguished career, Coach De Fabiis recorded more than 500 victories (529-173 – 754%), led teams to CIF‐SS Finals appearances in 2005 and 2008, captured CIF‐SS Championships in 2006, 2017, and 2019, and finished as CIF State Division 2
Runner‐Up that same year. His programs set extraordinary standards of consistency, highlighted by league‐winning streaks of 60 consecutive games from 2006–2011, 61 straight victories from 2014–2019, and also winning 14 consecutive league championships between 2006 to 2019.
A five‐time CIF Coach of the Year and the 2019 Cal‐Hi State Coach of the Year, Coach De Fabiis has also made a lasting impact beyond the court through more than two decades of service on the Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association Executive Board, including two years as President, four years as Athletic Director at Colony High School, and over 15 years on the CIF‐SS Basketball Advisory Board. In 2023 he was hired as a CIF‐SS Assistant Commissioner of Athletics overseeing the sports of Cross Country, Tennis, Basketball, and Track and Field.

Tom McCluskey served as a head coach at Fontana High School from 1984 to 1987, Tustin High School from 1987 to 1992, Golden West College from 1994 to 1998, Foothill High School from 2000 to 2004, and Trabuco Hills High School from 2004 to 2012, while also spending time as an assistant coach at Saddleback College from 1992 to 1994. Over the course of his distinguished career, McCluskey guided teams at Fontana, Tustin, and Saddleback College to multiple league championships and led his programs to CIF playoff appearances in sixteen of his twenty-one years as a high school head coach.
He accumulated more than 350 career victories and achieved a remarkable pinnacle in 1991 by winning the Division II CIFSS Championship, the Southern California State Regional Championship, and the CIF State Division II Championship, earning him the Los Angeles Times “Coach of the Year” honor. Throughout his career, McCluskey also played a pivotal role in developing seventeen athletes who went on to compete at the NCAA Division I level.

Mike Prewitt has dedicated more than three decades to varsity basketball coaching, building a distinguished career marked by longevity and success. He has been married to his wife, Linda, for 44 years and spent 32 years as a varsity coach. Prewitt began his head coaching career at Channel Islands High School, leading the boys program from 1985 to 1989 with a 36–30 record. He then served as the Camarillo boys head coach for 20 seasons from 1990 to 2010, compiling a 238–236 record, qualifying for the CIF playoffs in 12 seasons, and capturing the 2006–2007 league championship.
From 2014 to 2023, he guided the Camarillo girls basketball program to remarkable success, amassing a 199–50 record, nine CIF playoff appearances, a CIF 2AA finalist finish in 2016–2017, and a CIF Division I finalist appearance in 2021–2022. His excellence was recognized with Ventura County Coach of the Year honors in 2017, 2018, and 2022.

Kevin Reynolds dedicated 30 years to Villa Park High School, where he built a program rooted in excellence, character, and education-based athletics. Under his leadership, his teams amassed 634 wins, captured 15 league championships, and advanced to the CIF championship game seven times across various divisions. The pinnacle of his coaching career came in 2017, when Villa Park claimed the Southern California Regional Championship and advanced to the state championship game.
Sadly, Coach Reynolds lost his battle with cancer on May 23, 2025, but his legacy extends far beyond wins and titles, leaving a lasting impact on his athletes, school, and community.

Frank Scott retired from the Inglewood Unified School District in 2011 after a highly successful basketball coaching career highlighted by championship achievements at both the high school and collegiate levels. He began coaching at Morningside High School as the boys’ sophomore basketball coach from 1979 to 1980 before leading the Morningside girls varsity basketball program from 1980 to 1990, during which time his teams won CIF Southern Section championships in 1983 (4A vs. Buena), 1988 (4A vs. Lynwood), 1989 (5A vs. Fontana),
and 1990 (5AA vs. Lynwood), along with CIF State Championships in 1989 (defeating Fremont of Oakland) and 1990 (defeating Berkeley), and a state runner-up finish in 1988 after a loss to Fremont of Oakland. His later coaching career included a CIF Southern Section 3AA championship loss to Harvard Westlake in 1999 and an overall high school coaching record of 320 wins and 57 losses. From 1991 to 2007, Scott served as an assistant women’s basketball coach at the University of Southern California, where he contributed to the program’s continued national competitiveness and further solidified his legacy as one of California’s most respected basketball coaches.
