The earliest extant episcopal register of the diocese of Dublin is known as ‘Crede Mihi’, meaning ‘Believe me’, a title deriving from the vulgate version of the gospel according to John (chapter 4, v.21) where Jesus said to the Samaritan woman ‘Believe me’ etc.). The manuscript is item one in the diocesan collection held in the RCB Library D6/1.
