Priorities News 2026 Church of Ireland General Synod Priorities Fund Church of Ireland House, Rathmines, Dublin 6
The Vision The original vision for the work of Priorities Fund emphasised the spiritual rather than material growth of the church, putting people before buildings. The Committee strive to be faithful to that vision each year as they allocate grants from the fund. The Priorities Fund continues to encourage and help those parishes and organisations that are bringing the message of the love of God to their congregation and families, and also to those that may be distanced from the church. This year’s applications include support for a youth mental health project, outreach to impoverished housing areas, help for people with addictions and setting up an Agricultural Chaplaincy. With new projects, we accept that sometimes the outcome may differ from the original plan or that they may not be totally successful. Any innovation requires willingness to take steps of faith. As in previous years, our evaluation forms reports have been positive and encouraging and also honest about the difficulties faced in some areas of ministry. The committee would like to express their thanks to the dioceses, parishes and individuals who contribute to the fund. We are very aware of the responsibility that we have to ensure that these contributions are well used in the growing of the Kingdom of God. Roy Totten Chairman
