Carolina Chrome Magazine cover, features; Renee Burdette and her bike, HellFire of Anderson, SC. This strong SC woman, has enjoyed riding most of her life. She rode a [croch rocket] aka “sport bike” for a while and then, at 40, she bought her first Harley. For about 6 years, Renee & “HellFire” have covered hundreds of roads & thousands of memory miles together!

In 2018, Renee was in an accident on Hellfire, when a car ran her over while sitting in the median waiting to turn! Hellfire took most of the damage, although Renee was hurt also. Within months she was back on the road. Then in September 2019 she hit a deer doing about 60 mph in Anderson, SC. Hellfire and Renee got pretty beat up in this one! Hellfire flipped and rolled one way and Renee flipped and rolled another. Renee got a lot of road rash and stitches in her face. She believes her helmet saved her life! A close biker brother died from cancer while Renee was laid up healing, so, she borrowed a bike and rode in his memorial service bandages and all.

Six months later, she was rebuilding Hellfire herself, with the help of some awesome friends!

By June 2020, the day before an annual ride in Virginia, she got Hellfire ready to ride. Off they rode to Virginia for the CC Rider poker run in Saltville. She was so happy to get back on Hellfire and ride again! She rode almost 900 miles from SC to Virginia and back. While riding the back of the dragon every day, she encountered a deer…EVERYDAY! She still got up each day and she was ready to ride!

Two weeks after Renee returned from VA., in July, she went to Myrtle Beach for a 2020 bike rally. You will never guess what happened!?!? …Hellfire was stolen! On July 14th, 2020, it was stolen from the Myrtle Beach Travel Park. She had it parked by the guards gate and someone STILL got it, pushed it across the road in broad daylight! Renee is heartbroken. Hellfire was not just her bike, Hellfire was a part of her. She has put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into Hellfire. Yes, of course, she has insurance and can buy another bike… but there will never be another Hellfire. Let’s see if we can help Renee find Hellfire and bring her back home! Dave said, “right here Brudda, I can’t take it another minute.” So, we all took out our sleeping bags and blankets, and stood around him right there in the parking lot while this tough looking 350-pound biker could powder himself. As we were gathered around Dave, we could see big puffs of white powder resembling a building on fire rising over those blankets... From inside the blankets also came the sounds of sweet relief, “Awwwww.... Thank you, sweet Jesus!!!” When Dave finished, he hopped back on his bike and a big puff of white powder came up from his black jeans. Then we looked at where he had been standing, and there on the pavement were two footprints in white powder. We could tell exactly where he had been standing. Sometimes it is hard to tell where people stand. Today, can people always tell where we stand as Christians? Without knowing us, can people tell where we stand just by our actions? What do our actions tell people about our character? Are we walking the walk? Do people see Jesus when they look at us? 2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV “And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” Now I want to call your attention to 2 things mentioned in that verse. First, we who are Christians are supposed to reflect Jesus. In other words, when people see us, they should be able to see Jesus in us, in both what we say and do. Second, with each passing day we ought to become more and more like Him. People should see the change in our words and actions. Today, is it obvious to people you are a servant of God, or would people be surprised if you announced it to the world? If Jesus looked like you and took your place at work or in your home for a week, would people notice a difference? Finally, without telling them, can people truly tell where you stand? Prayer: “Dear God, please give us the ability to reflect your goodness to others, remind us that we are your representatives, and give us strength to carry your love and words to others. Amen!”

Handgun Carry While Riding What style do you use? There are several different ways to carry on a bike, and a couple of things to think about when deciding which is right for you. Are you right or left handed, inside the waste band, shoulder carry, ankle carry, inside the trunk or saddle bag? And then all the different holsters can get confusing and leave you thinking which one is right for me. Now throw in all the turmoil going on in the US and it is time to start carrying for personal defense if you don’t already. What is the most likely situation that you might need defense? It is pretty much the same as in a car, but now you don’t have all the extra metal around you. So maybe a quick trip to the store, the gas station, stopped at a traffic light? Maybe a less attractive part of town? More than likely it won’t happen while actually moving down the road. So let’s look at a few styles. The small of the back? We see it on TV all the time. Out of the way, but it is easier for someone behind you to grab and it is against your back which could cause further injuries in an accident. Maybe not a good choice. Inside the pocket needs a holster that won’t push out with movements like bending over, squatting etc. Inside the waste band? Whether on the side or font, this keeps it secure and hidden making it quick and easy to grab in most situations. Leaving the shirt un-tucked keeps it covered. The same basically goes for a belt holster. Then there is the shoulder carry. A good method, but you always need some kind of vest or jacket to obscure it. An ankle holster can be good, but maybe a little slower to grab if being watched. Keeping it in the trunk or saddlebag is secure, but makes it harder to get to. The goal of this article is just to provoke thought in the way you now or might carry. The important thing now is to make sure you are protected with all the protests and violence in today's world. Dr Dilligaf, My husband and I left a bar & grill one night and noticed a cop sitting down the road. We came to a four way stop and my husband stopped the bike, counted to five and proceeded to go one. The cop pulled us over and gave him a warning for “rolling through”. He has been pissed all week. Should I have tried to put my feet down too? ~He ain’t happy

Any way my suggestion is that you make sure that your girl is a girl and if she is you only have a couple of choices. One of those would be to get a different lady friend. Dr. Dilligaf, I’ve been taking my lady friend for a ride. She is a beautiful well-mannered girl… surprising because she is from California. But how do I tell her that I can smell her lady parts below the waist when we ride? It’s pretty rough by the time I drop her off. CMA Diaper Run

I went on both Diaper Runs last year, and thoroughly enjoyed them. I met some old friends and made a few new ones too. They were all for a great cause.

On Saturday, I awoke, ate breakfast, and checked the weather. It had rained on and off all night, and the roads were still wet. It was overcast, and looked like it would rain all day. I decided to drive the car to the event. That was at 8:30AM.

Durng the year, the local Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA) chapter “Warriors for Christ” holds two Diaper Runs to benefit the Cherokee Pregnancy Center - Options Medical Clinic in Gaffney, SC – one in the spring, and the other in the fall. The Cherokee Pregnancy Center respects privacy. All communication is kept strictly confidential. They care about the patient’s health. They are a committed to providing women, men and their families with up-to-date information in order to make informed decisions about pregnancy, sexual health, and relationships. The spring event this year was held on Saturday, March 21st. The invitation said to meet at the Pilot gas station in Gaffney at about 10:30AM. The kickstands would be up at 11:00AM for the ride to the center. There also was a mention of a ride afterwards if the weather was good enough for a comfortable ride. 20

By the time I was planning to leave at about 10:00AM, I was pleasantly surprised to see nothing but sunshine, warm temps, and cloudless blue sky. I changed my mind, and decided to ride “Miss Vickie” to the event. When I arrived, I parked along the back of the lot with one other bike, and a couple cars. After a few minutes, a couple more bikes rolled in. We started talking, and I shared the latest Carolina Chrome magazine with them. As we talked, more and more bikers rode in, and parked. Some went inside to get breakfast but most just stood around sharing their adventures. The brightly colored diaper boxes clashed with the black biker image.

After a few minutes, a group of bikes roared in, and parked. As the bikers got off their bikes, many were greeted by old friends. There weren’t as many handshakes, and hugs because of the coronavirus pandemic, but a few were still doing it because it’s in the biker’s nature. At about 11:00AM, we asked to join around for the prayer - after which, the Road Captain took over, and described the route we would take to the center. It was only a few miles to the center. I stayed in the rear of the group. Within a few minutes we were rolling in the lot next to the center. After we all parked, we were invited to bring the diapers to the entrance of the building where volunteers would take them inside. Normally we would all go inside, and stand around a large table but with the pandemic scare, we were asked to stay outside. We all lined up for a group picture.

It gave all of us a very warm feeling that we could help babies, and their mothers especially during the difficult times the pandemic was causing. Donna Proctor, the lady in charge, thanked us for coming, and then spoke to us about how all the diapers we brought would help so many families. As I was leaving, they were talking about where they could ride, and stop for lunch. It was such a beautiful day that they could go on a long ride in comfort. After saying good-bye, I headed back home. When I arrived, I drove to Showmars for a delicious take-out meal. It was a great way to enjoy a Saturday – riding “Miss Vickie” while helping people less fortunate.
