Obituary
On May 1, 1984, Alisha was a beautiful healthy baby born to Willie and Alvertis Carr. Alisha Carr was educated in the Pemberton Township School system and earned her high school diploma in 2002. Following graduation, she pursued college coursework in Early Childhood Education, driven by her deep passion for teaching and nurturing young children. She worked as a preschool teacher at several early childhood education centers, where many of her students called her “Ms. Weesha” because they could not pronounce her name. Although she never had children of her own, she considered every child she taught to be one of her babies. She remained connected with many of those children and their families, watching them grow from childhood into adulthood. Committed to lifelong learning, Alisha later attended Jamison College, where she earned a degree. She also continued her professional development through Continuing Professional Education courses for several years. Her desire to learn reflected her commitment to serving others.
When her mother went on various missionary assignments, she was with her mother and they would call her “Sunshine” because she was a little girl who brought light in their lives. Alisha was raised in the church and always had a heart of giving and serving. She possessed an extraordinary heart for giving and was always willing to help anyone in need. Throughout the years, she provided school supplies, and clothing, for children in the community. She continued to stay in touch with those children taught had little children until they became adults. Each year, she received food donations to bless families experiencing hardship. Alisha was known for giving generously—even when it meant giving her very last. She simply loved people
and found joy in making life a little brighter for others. Alisha was just that type of person. Overall, she loved people and always wanted to help.
In her free time, Alisha found peace in taking walks through local parks, relaxing by the beach and nearby lakes, and spending quality time with her family. She enjoyed journaling, online shopping, and eating some of her favorite meals, especially crabs and steak. Her laughter and spirit made every gathering more meaningful and funny.
Alisha Ann Carr passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026 in Mount Holly, NJ. Alisha will be missed by those who truly loved her and adored her. She leaves to cherish her precious memory with her parents, Willie J. Carr Sr. and Pastor Mother Alvertis R. Carr; her brothers, Elder Willie J. Carr Jr. (Rev. Sharon Monsanto Carr), James M. Carr (Adriane Carr), and Elder Wesley C. Carr (Camille Carr); her sisters, Ashia “Shelia” L. Carr and Lisa R. Carr (Jason Chambers); along with a host extended family members and friends. To friends and associates who knew her, she was Alisha but to family she was Baby Cheeks, Baby Girl, Shemp-Shemp, Goose, Smelly, Cheeks, Jaws, The Baby, Shaney, and Critter; just to name a few. Those special names reflected the love and closeness she shared with her family. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we thank God for the gift of Alisha’s life. We will forever cherish the beautiful memories she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
