The Center on Applied Research and Best Practices for Children and Families helps Christian organizations apply the best available knowledge in their work to see better care and outcomes for children and families worldwide.

The Global Network initiative unites and strengthens more than 50 locally-led and globally-informed networks of churches, NGOs and agencies working together to see every child in a loving family, embraced within a collaborative community.

More Than Enough, CAFO’s US foster care initiative, supports a community of churches, organizations and advocates working toward a shared vision of more than enough for children and families before, during and beyond foster care.

Helping Christian families nurture healing and health

The Pure Religion Project, CAFO’s church ministry initiative, aims to inspire and equip God’s people to live out the “pure religion” — described in the book of James and invited throughout Scripture — through resources, supportive community and ongoing connection and coaching.

The Institute for FamilyCentered Healing and Health equips foster and adoptive parents — and the ministries that serve them — with family practices grounded in Scripture and science, helping them experience steady growth as healing slowly takes root in their children’s lives.

Guiding new approaches in fundraising Development & Discipleship expands Christian adoption, foster care and orphan care worldwide by helping childserving ministries build more effective fundraising programs grounded in the theology of God’s abundance.

DEAR FRIEND & FELLOW APPRENTICE TO JESUS, Look around you! What a joy to be surrounded by so many kindred spirits — dear brothers and sisters, devoted to Jesus Christ and to faithful service in His name. Each of us comes with needs. Each comes also with gifts. God will feed His people through His people, renewing and strengthening us in ways we didn’t even know to ask for. Our theme is “LESS. Fewer Branches, Better Fruit.” Overgrown vines cry out for pruning. The best fruit will come no other way. This is God’s work first. But He invites us to join Him in it. We seek His wisdom and fresh clarity, discerning where to cut and rechannel finite resources to their very best use. Though sometimes it feels costly, this is no loss. It is strategic reduction for the sake of future abundance. Together, we seek the rich yield that comes only with fewer branches: sweeter life in God … greater calm and gladness in our hearts … and ultimately, a fuller harvest of fruit that will last in the lives of those we love and serve as well!

There's so much to experience at Summit and we know you don't want to miss out on any of it. But, sometimes we need to pause and rest so we can continue to pour out in our daily lives. Don't leave Summit exhausted! We encourage you to visit the Chapel throughout Summit for one of these Soul Care opportunities.

Wise pruning requires prayerful discernment. Don't leave CAFO2026 without taking time to reflect, pray and make important choices for your life and leadership. The Chapel is set aside for this purpose (except in the times noted below) and will include simple materials to guide you as you consider strategic reduction for the sake of future abundance.

Together with her husband, Ion Druță, she is raising their two biological sons and has provided foster care to more than 60 children and youth over the past 13 years.

Professor, Author & Speaker

Kelly M. Kapic (PhD, King's College, University of London) holds the Honorary Chair of Theology and Culture at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia, where he has taught since 2001. He is an author or editor of more than 20 books, including You're Only Human and Embodied Hope, both of which won a Christianity Today Book of the Year Award. Kelly and his wife, Tabitha, live on Lookout Mountain. They have two adult children: Jonathan and Margot.

Génesis Miranda Longo experienced *philoxenos* — the Greek concept of “love of the stranger” — when she moved from Mexico to Arizona and others invested in her future. Years later, she and her husband, Auggie, opened their Austin home to refugees and asylum seekers. In 2025, they adopted Kamdin, an Iranian refugee they first welcomed at age 17. Génesis’s story is one of strangers becoming family and love rewriting futures.

JEDD MEDEFIND President, CAFO

As a husband, father, leader and friend, Jedd desires most of all to reflect the heart of Jesus Christ. For many years, he has served as president of the Christian Alliance for Orphans. Prior to this role, he was a Special Assistant to President George W. Bush, leading the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. Jedd has worked, studied and served in more than 30 countries, with organizations ranging from Price-Waterhouse in Moscow to Christian Life Bangladesh. He and his wife, Rachel, along with their five children, now live near Washington, DC.

ZAWADI MORROW

Worship Leader, CAFO Artist in Residence

Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and adopted by European missionary parents, Zawadi was raised across Africa, Europe and the United States. A multi-instrumentalist with a Master of Arts in Worship Studies, he serves as worship arts director at Calvary Holland. He also tours with artists including Kings Kaleidoscope, Andy Mineo, Switchfoot and SYML.

ANNIKA MAREK-BARTA Foster Care & Adoption Advocate

Annika Marek-Barta is a former foster youth who spent five years in the foster care system during her teenage years and early adulthood. At age 26, she was adopted as an adult, displaying the truth that we truly never outgrow the need to belong. Today, Annika is passionate about using her voice and creative abilities to advocate for foster youth. Her heart is to see seats added to tables as the lonely are invited into belonging.

JASON PAREDES Pastor & Author

Jason is the lead pastor of Fielder Church in Arlington, Texas, a bilingual, multisite church in the heart of the DFW area. Jason’s wife, Virginia, challenged him to pray about adoption, and God won. Through their experience adopting two children, God led Jason to challenge Fielder to share His heart for vulnerable children. Ten years later, more than 200 children have found homes with families in their congregation. Jason and Virginia have five beautiful daughters who aren’t allowed to date until they are 42 and a son who brings much-needed balance to the girl power in their home.

Shane & Shane, the worship duo of Shane Barnard and Shane Everett, have spent more than 15 years writing and leading biblically rooted, lyrically rich worship music. Inspired by deep compassion for others and informed from a Christian perspective, psychiatrist Curt Thompson shares fresh insights and practical applications for developing more authentic relationships and fully experiencing our deepest longing: to be known. He understands that deep, authentic relationships are essential to experiencing a healthier, more purposeful life — but the only way to realize this is to begin telling our stories more truly. Curt and his wife, Phyllis, live outside Washington DC and have two adult children.

Katherine Wolf is an author, advocate and co-founder of Hope Heals. After she survived a near-fatal brainstem stroke at age 26, her family’s journey through disability has become a public witness that good and hard can co-exist in the same story. Through caregiving, storytelling and lived theology, Katherine is inviting others into a vision of hope, interdependence and embodied resilience. She and her husband, Jay, live in Atlanta with their two sons.
