Did he walk by because he didn’t want to be inconvenienced? Did he walk by because he felt ill equipped; or did he simply walk by because he didn’t want to be bothered? For us to say that he did nothing is incorrect. In fact, he did do something. He walked away.

He is not a good man who, without protest, allows wrong to be committed in his name, and with the means which he helps to supply, because he will not trouble himself to use his mind on the subject.” About a week ago I read a Life Site News* blog concerning organ harvesting practices at the University of Pittsburgh. The University under scrutiny by the media specifically, Fox News admitted that they received millions of federal tax dollars for the tissue bank that harvested organs from aborted babies. Pitt admitted these fetal organs are often collected while the unborn are still alive! It’s sickened me. I cried out to God for mercy on us as a country for allowing it to get this far but even more for mercy on us as a church for being complicit by being silent. In a day and age when we are being told what we can say and how we can say it; it seems like now we are more careful than ever about being politically correct. In fact, I have had concerns expressed by donors that we as a ministry not venture into politics with our events or in our messaging. That has now fully blossomed into not being permitted to talk. Let’s be clear, politics and government are two completely different things. We must make our voices heard within government. If the church does not speak against a government’s tyranny or totalitarianism who will?

Goodbye Summer Hello Autumn!
Queen Esther didn’t just speak. She fasted and prayed before approaching the King about the annihilation of her people. Her own head was on the line. Her strategy was laser focused. Prayer and fasting first and then boldness comes! “Do not eat or drink for 3 days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.” Esther 4:16 My brothers and sisters, we live in perilous times. Hold fast to the only truth which prevails, the word of God. The promises in Psalm 91 are foundational to understanding what God seeks. He seeks those who abide with Him. He who dwells in the secret place will abide under the shadow of the Almighty” Psalm 91:1 That’s a day in day out relationship. Find your home, like Esther, in your prayer closet. Then, our Father, who is faithful and merciful will give you the strength and the boldness to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. Rescue those being led away to death. Hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say we knew nothing of this, does not He who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not He who guards your life know it? Will He not repay everyone for what they have done? Proverbs 24:11

From MRI to Ultrasound

The first words out of her mouth on the phone were, "I just found out I'm pregnant but there is no way I'm having this baby." Lori was currently breastfeeding a one year old and was also raising an 8 year old son. She and her boyfriend were planning on being married but both agreed that with her health and financial issues, there was no way they were prepared to deal with another pregnancy at this time. She couldn't even consider carrying a child, so adoption was off the table right from the start. Lori stated she was definitely going to abort this baby. On the phone, I listened and prayed silently for the Holy Spirit to give me the right words. "It must be incredibly difficult for you to be in this situation. We want you to know that we care very much about your health and we are here to help you with whatever you need." I could hear her sigh of relief, most likely because there was no rush to judgment; "Thank you," she said. While scheduling her appointment, I asked if she understood what happens when a pregnancy is terminated. She had little knowledge. I informed her briefly about possible options and told her we could discuss in detail what would happen during and after an abortion, including medical and physical complications, when she came in. The day Lori came in for her appointment, she had already changed her intentions from "Abortion" to "Undecided." In our counseling session, we talked about her beliefs about God as the Giver of all life. We talked about how abortion adds more trauma to the mother's body and soul, especially when she is already threatened by health problems. At that time, she stated that she would keep the baby only if it is too late to take a pill, but she really did not want to end the pregnancy [note: the abortion pill can be taken up to 10 weeks of pregnancy]. The ultrasound found her at just 9 weeks. "Dear God, help me and help her," I prayed silently. I offered to pray with Lori on the spot and she accepted the offer. She left our office undecided that day. The following day, Lori called our office announcing that she decided to carry and parent her baby! What made the difference; ultrasound, prayer and donors who make it possible to do what we do. We thank God for you, for unexpected opportunities and for His faithfulness to His work!
