Auction Solutions for Estate Valuations

Administering an estate can be complex, particularly when it involves a diverse range of assets spanning multiple collecting categories. From paintings and prints to jewellery, books, and Asian works of art, executors and solicitors are often faced with the challenge of obtaining accurate valuations across highly specialised fields.
At Chiswick Auctions, we offer expertise across a broad spectrum of departments. Importantly, our valuations are conducted by dedicated specialists, not general valuers, ensuring that each category is assessed by an expert with in-depth market knowledge.
Our departments include:
Modern & Contemporary Collections
(Modern British & Irish art, Prints & Multiples, 20th & 21st Century Art, Fine Photographs and Design)
European, British and Asian Works of Art from 1600-2000 (Fine Sale, Design & Studio Ceramics, Chinese and Japanese Art)
European & British Furniture, Silver & Paintings 1500-1850 (Old Master & 19th Century Art and Silver & Objects of Vertu)
Collectibles
(Books & Works on Paper, Autographs & Memorabilia, Photographica)
This breadth of expertise allows us to deliver accurate, market-informed valuations across complex and varied estates.

Our valuations for Inheritance Tax (IHT) purposes are prepared in accordance with HMRC requirements. We:
• Identify and list all items with an individual value of £1,500 and above
• Provide a collective “global” figure for items valued below this threshold
In addition, for the residual global figure, we provide a complimentary auction valuation outlining which items may be suitable for sale at Chiswick Auctions, listing them individually where appropriate.
Once the valuation report is prepared, we send a digital copy for your review to ensure everything is accurate and in order. Upon confirmation, we issue the final signed document. Hard copies can also be provided upon request.
We typically arrange appointments within one week, and the completed report is delivered within one week of the visit.
Beyond valuation, we can also assist with:
• Arranging the sale of suitable items through our auctions
• Coordinating collection and logistics
• Advising on full or partial clearance where required

Our process is designed to be clear, efficient and supportive.
