DEBBIE RIPPSTEIN BOND

President, Texas Baptist Children’s Home Round Rock

At times, we are called to do the unexpected - to step into moments we could not have planned and walk alongside families in their most vulnerable hours. This year brought several such moments, each reminding us that ministry often happens quietly, tenderly, and far beyond what can be captured by statistics alone.

One of our Family Care clients, a devoted mother of four, was diagnosed with inoperable cancer. Our staff surrounded her and her children with compassion, walking faithfully beside them through her transition to hospice care. She passed away during the past summer, deeply loved and never alone. When the family faced the unexpected question of an eternal resting place, a donor responded within hours, generously providing a cemetery plot, a sacred gift at exactly the right time.

In July, one of our young adults served as a student nurse at Camp Mystic. The experience left an indelible imprint on her life and will shape her journey for years to come. For this young lady, the emotional toll of that experience was heavy. She was surrounded by support from her Home Base “family.” Friends and staff from TBCH checked on her constantly, prayed with her, and helped her access therapy and counseling. Even moments that cannot be fully explained remind us that care does not always look the same, but it always matters.

Thank you for supporting this work even when you don’t know every story or every circumstance. Your prayers, volunteer hours, and financial generosity enable us to meet both daily and unexpected needs. Because of you, when the call comes, we are able to answer with compassion, courage, and hope, sharing the love of Jesus every day.
