T Levels T Levels are developed with employability in mind, helping you build the skills industry needs. Equivalent to three A Levels and studied across two years, roughly 80% of your time is spent in the classroom and 20% on an industry placement. You can discover more about T Levels on page 30.

Level 2 Level 2 courses provide a progression route to level 3 study, apprenticeships or employment, building knowledge, skills and confidence before progressing to an advanced qualification. To progress to level 3, you will need to achieve the required grade in your level 2 qualification (normally a merit) and meet the entry requirements for your course. If you have not achieved grade 4 or above in GCSE maths and/or English, you will continue to study these qualifications alongside your course.
Level 1 Level 1 courses are for students who have not yet met the entry requirements for level 2 or level 3 study. They provide a foundation in your subject while developing knowledge, skills and confidence needed for further study. Successful completion can lead to a level 2 qualification, provided you meet the entry requirements for chosen course. It can also provide a pathway to an apprenticeship or employment. If you have not achieved a grade 4 or above in GCSE maths and/ or English, you will continue to study these qualifications alongside your course.
Course types 25
Vocational courses combine practical learning with academic study and are designed to prepare you for university, apprenticeships or employment in your chosen industry. Vocational qualifications are available in two sizes. Single vocational qualifications (AAQs/V Levels) are equivalent to one A Level and can be combined with A Levels to create a mixed study programme. Triple vocational qualifications are equivalent to three A Levels and allow you to specialise in a particular subject, such as sport or allied health. Assessment is through a combination of coursework, practical projects and examinations, helping you develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed for your chosen career or further study.

Choosing the right subjects With so many subjects to choose from, getting the right mix of courses can be confusing. There are a few things to consider to help you make the right choice for you:
A Level
98.5% pass rate
for 2026
Do you know what you want to do in the future? Look at the entry requirements for the university or higher education course or apprenticeship that you want to do. Does it require specific subjects at A Level? You’ll be able to find this information on university websites or using the UCAS course search.
What have you studied and enjoyed? Think about building on subjects you have studied before, considering ones you have enjoyed or have a passion for!
Find a balance Try to choose subjects that reflect your abilities, strengths or interests! Consider how you like to be assessed - by exams or a combination of exams and coursework? Check our website to see the assessment methods of the courses you are interested in.
Ask yourself ‘why?’ If you want to choose a new subject, take a minute to think about why you want to study it. Is it something you’re interested in but haven’t been able to study before? Do you know what it’s about? Is it relevant to what you want to do?
If you don’t know what you want to do, that’s OK! There are a number of subjects that will ensure you have lots of options available to you, but it is important to choose carefully. Speak to our advisors for more information and advice.
Applying for courses Look at the subject options available to you – you’ll find information on pages 47-69 and individual detailed course information is available on our website at worthing.ac.uk/courses Once we receive your application, we’ll invite you to a course guidance meeting and our staff will be able to offer you guidance on your subject choices, look at the options that are right for you and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. For more in-depth information, visit worthing.ac.uk or come along to one of our open events.
Alongside your courses, you can also add exciting qualifications to complement your studies and support your entry to study higher education. The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) gives you the opportunity to research a subject or topic of your choice. You’ll be supported with input from advisors on research methods and tutorials as your project takes shape. The EPQ develops independent research and study skills which many universities regard highly. It carries UCAS points and can be taken as a fourth subject. The Academy is also available to you, providing a range of activities to support you and develop your learning. You’ll find out more on page 36.

Future engineers A thriving Electronics Club at Worthing College is creating exciting career opportunities through a partnership with local company GB Electronics. Established in 2022, the Rugby Scoreboard Club brings students together each week to design and build a rugby scoreboard while developing technical, teamwork and project management skills. The partnership began after former student Lewis Thom secured a role with GB Electronics, leading the company to sponsor the college’s electronics lab and equipment. Two more students also gained employment with the firm. Lecturer Chris Stabler said the project has helped students develop valuable electronics, programming, research and leadership skills beyond their studies.
Computing and IT is a fastmoving industry with exciting career opportunities and growing demand for skilled professionals. As digital technology continues to shape the future, skills in areas such as programming, cyber security and software development are becoming increasingly important across every sector.
