This autumn, we are reopening the museum wing at The Wilson and inviting you to experience Cheltenham’s history in a fresh new way. Over the last four years, we have refurbished our museum spaces and transformed how we tell Cheltenham’s many stories, led by our local community. Over 58,000 responses to the Big Museum Project have shaped the future of your museum, by telling us which stories are important to
you and what makes Cheltenham unique. Every object displayed in the museum, carefully chosen from the 250,000 objects in our collection, will tell a story – from the well-known moments in the town’s history to hidden stories, overlooked voices, and the everyday lives whose experiences shaped the place we know today. Together, we are Cheltenham, and we can’t wait to invite you in. Opening October 2026 | Free Entry
WELCOME
Summer at The Cheltenham Trust is always a busy time. We’ve welcomed nearly 10,000 young people to the Prince of Wales Stadium for school sports days and athletics competitions, The Wilson’s summer play season is underway with young people exploring sculpture, and the Town Hall and Pittville Pump Room continue to host festivals, summer parties, balls, weddings, comedy, live music, talks and more.
Following the success of last year’s pop-up, the Pittville Pump Room café has reopened for drinks and light bites throughout the summer. Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback on how this much-loved community building can continue to be enjoyed. Behind the scenes, we are progressing ambitious plans to improve accessibility, expand our programme and increase our impact across the community. This autumn, members of our team will take part in the Cheltenham Half Marathon and 10K to raise funds for The Big Splash, our campaign to provide free swimming lessons for young people who might otherwise miss out on this vital life skill. We hope you’ll come along to support the team and consider donating if you can. I’m also looking forward to reopening the museum at The Wilson in October, following the incredible response to the Big Museum project. Thank you to everyone who shared their stories, views and ideas with us – every one of the 58,000 responses we received have helped shape the future of the museum.

Step into a world where history, craft, and imagination come together through play. Inspired by the people, furniture and ethos of the Arts and Crafts Movement, this exhibition reimagines iconic elements of the time as a tactile, child-centred environment encouraging ideas of sharing and cooperation. Soft sculpture forms, bold patterns, and wooden building shapes encourage young visitors to construct, experiment, and invent their own imaginative furniture and structures. Accessibility
We are committed to making our venues welcoming to everyone. If you would like to book a wheelchair space or an essential companion ticket, please contact our ticket office by phone or visit us in person. We offer a free Essential Companion ticket if you have significant needs and cannot attend without assistance, beyond how a friend or family member also attending the event could help. Our staff are not trained to physically assist customers (including lifting or manoeuvring from wheelchairs, or assisting with stairs), but will do what they can to make your visit as easy and comfortable as possible. We have three disabled parking spaces at the Town Hall, which can be booked in advance with the ticket office. Our venues offer:

There is a Pay and Display car park at Pittville Pump Room and there are several public car parks within walking distance of Cheltenham Town Hall. There is a free car park at Leisure at Cheltenham for customers.
