Years of uninterrupted service to Washington's college-bound students.
Forty seven years. One school.
Thousands of crossings.

Since 1979, MCIP has served as the community school partner at Bell Multicultural High School, helping students gain admission, persist in college, and graduate with the support systems they deserve.

Multicultural Career Intern Program is a Washington, D.C.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the community school partner at Columbia Heights Educational Campus (CHEC).
For more than forty years, MCIP has dismantled systemic barriers to higher education — helping students not only get in, but stay in college, graduate, and step into the futures they have earned.

Programs are open to all CHEC students, with focused outreach toward those facing the greatest barriers to college.
First-generation college aspirants
English language learners
Students with disabilities
Black, Latin American, and immigrant students
LGBTQ+ students and families
“They didn't simply survive the transition. The crossing built them.”
2026 Theme: The Crossing: Voices Unbound

Six pillars. All free. All year.

After school tutoring and homework assistance. SAT prep, application guidance, essay coaching, and financial aid navigation for every senior.
Annual awards bridging the gap between admission and a diploma — because getting in is only half the journey.
On-campus high-impact tutoring and academic support, free and proven for students and families.
First-generation college navigation, career development, and peer mentorship yearround.
Legal assistance, health services, and family engagement for immigrant and multicultural families.
Partnerships with CHEC, Tubman, Powell and Randle Highlands extending our reach across the city.

A home for French-American cultural exchange.
At the Embassy of France in Washington, La Maison Française is a landmark venue for cultural exchange and worthy causes. For MCIP and Columbia Heights Educational Campus, it is a fitting partner for The Crossing - a gala shaped by multilingual students and global belonging.
Many CHEC students come from Francophone countries.
After English and Spanish, French is the third most spoken language at the school.
A celebration of cross-cultural understanding, cooperation, and student possibility.
