SPRINGstaycation BREAK Hey there! Spring Break is right around the corner, and whether you’re traveling or staying close to home, there’s something about this time of year that makes everything feel fresh again. If you’re not jet-setting off somewhere tropical, don’t worry—I’ve got some fun ways to turn your home (or town!) into the perfect staycation spot.
MAKE HOME FEEL LIKE A GETAWAY Who says you have to leave home to feel like you’re on vacation? A few small tweaks can turn your space into a relaxing retreat: Create a “hotel” experience – Fresh sheets, fluffy towels, and a clean, clutter-free space can instantly make home feel special. Bonus points if you add a scented candle or essential oils for that resort vibe. Stock up on vacation-style treats – Grab some fresh fruit, fun drinks (mocktails or cocktails), and snacks you’d normally save for a special occasion. Unplug & unwind – Pick up a new book, binge a feel-good show, or spend time outside with your morning coffee instead of scrolling through emails.
FUN THINGS TO DO AROUND TOWN If you’re lucky enough to live in (or near) the Lowcountry, there’s no shortage of ways to soak up the season. Here are a few ideas for a local adventure: Bike the trails – Hilton Head has some of the best bike paths around. Whether you’re coasting through Sea Pines or beach cruising, it’s the perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon. Beachcombing at sunrise – Hit the shore early and hunt for shells (or just enjoy the quiet before the crowds roll in). Oyster roasts & patio dining – March is prime time for fresh seafood and outdoor dining. Find a spot with live music and soak in the springtime vibes. Garden strolls & farmers’ markets – Spring is in full bloom, and local markets are bursting with fresh produce and handmade goodies. It’s a great way to support local businesses and grab something unique for your home.
THINKING ABOUT A BIGGER CHANGE THIS SPRING? Spring is all about fresh starts, and if you’re feeling the itch to find a new home (or sell the one you’re in), now’s the time to start planning. Whether you’re just curious about what’s out there or seriously thinking about making a move, I’m always happy to chat—no pressure, just real talk. Until then, I hope you get a chance to enjoy a little “vacation mode” this month—whether it’s a quick day trip or just a slow morning with coffee in hand.

THINKING ABOUT SPRING CHICKENS?
If you’ve ever thought about raising backyard chickens, spring is the best time to start! Baby chicks start popping up in feed stores in March, making it the perfect season to bring some fluffy new friends home. Here are a few things to keep in mind before diving in: Choose the Right Breed – If you want friendly, egglaying hens, consider breeds like Buff Orpingtons, Barred Rocks, or Easter Eggers (which lay colorful blue and green eggs!). Set Up a Cozy Coop – Chickens need a safe, predator-proof coop with proper ventilation and a cozy nesting area for laying eggs. Make sure they have plenty of space to roam, too! Egg Production & Care – Most chickens start laying around 5-6 months old and need a balanced diet (with plenty of calcium) for strong shells and happy hens. The Benefits of Chickens – Not only do they provide fresh eggs, but they also help with pest control and can turn kitchen scraps into compost gold for your garden! Thinking about adding chickens to your backyard? Let me know—I’d love to share what I’ve learned from raising my own flock!
WHAT TO PLANT flowers, veggies, and more March is the perfect time to get your hands in the dirt! Whether you’re planting flowers for curb appeal or growing your own food, here’s what to plant this month:
FLOWER BULBS If you want a colorful garden this spring and summer, now’s the time to get those bulbs in the ground!
Tulips & Daffodils A classic sign of spring! In warmer climates, refrigerate bulbs for 6 weeks before planting. Lilies These summer-blooming beauties add height and elegance to any garden. Alliums Ornamental onions with striking purple blooms that pollinators love.
VEGETABLES & HERBS Want to grow your own food? March is a great time to plant:
Whether you have a full backyard or just a few planters on your patio, getting your hands in the soil is a great way to welcome spring. Plus, homegrown food always tastes better!
Root Veggies Carrots, beets, and radishes do well in early spring. Leafy Greens Spinach, kale, and lettuce love the cool weather. Herbs Start basil, parsley, and cilantro indoors or directly in the garden. Tomatoes & Peppers If you’re in a warmer climate, now’s the time to start seedlings!

QUESTION
Do I really need to get pre-approved before looking at homes?
ANSWER
Yes! Getting pre-approved helps you understand what you can afford and makes your offer stronger when you find the right home. It also prevents the heartbreak of falling in love with a home that’s outside your budget.
QUESTION
How much do I need for a down payment?
ANSWER
It depends on the loan type! Many people think they need 20%, but there are plenty of options with as little as 3-5% down (and VA loans for eligible buyers require 0% down!).
QUESTION
Is now a good time to buy?
ANSWER
The best time to buy is when you’re ready. Interest rates and market trends are important, but personal factors like job stability, lifestyle, and long-term goals matter even more.
QUESTION
What’s the biggest mistake first-time buyers make?
ANSWER
Not factoring in all the costs of homeownership! Beyond the mortgage, consider things like property taxes, insurance, maintenance, and HOA fees (if applicable). A good agent (hi! ♀) will help you budget wisely.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY IN SAVANNAH
the ultimate celebration
If you’ve never experienced St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah, you’re missing out on one of the biggest celebrations in the country! Every year, thousands of people flock to the city for a weekend full of parades, live music, and, of course, plenty of green. The Parade
Dating back to 1824, Savannah’s St. Patrick’s Day parade is one of the largest in the U.S.— second only to New York! Expect marching bands, decorated floats, and bagpipers filling the streets.
The Famous Fountain Dyeing
Every year, the fountains in Forsyth Park and other parts of the city are dyed bright green to kick off the festivities.
River Street & City Market
These two hotspots turn into party central with live music, Irish food, and festive drinks. Expect to see plenty of shamrocks, kilts, and green everything!
Family-Friendly Fun
If big crowds aren’t your thing, check out local Irish heritage events, pub brunches, and smaller neighborhood celebrations.
Since Savannah is just a short drive from the Lowcountry, it’s the perfect excuse for a weekend getaway. But if you’re celebrating closer to home, invite friends over for an Irish feast (corned beef and cabbage, anyone?) and enjoy a laid-back version of the holiday.
Sláinte!
