PupilsDay
All Houses are home to around 60-70 boarding and day pupils and offer very similar facilities, with a friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated team of staff on hand to help. Each Head of House lives in the House, along with two other residential staff, which enable them to get to know every member of the House really well.
Every pupil, whether a boarder or day, becomes a member of one of our 15 Houses Northbrook and Saunderites, on a misty autumn morning...
Much of life at Charterhouse revolves around a strong and thriving ‘House’ system. Every pupil joins a big ‘family’ with opportunities to establish great friendships and try out lots of different things. House is their base camp. The day starts there, before striking out for lessons, clubs, societies, sport and all the other elements of a full day. They return at various points in the day, to refuel, get ready for sport, for Prep or a House activity.
Pupils are provided with a day study in House which they share with another day pupil in the same year. The studies have desks and spaces to store academic materials and equipment for co-curricular activities. This study will become increasingly important as pupils move through the School and enjoy greater independence with private study periods and opportunities for extended study.
The House is a hive of activity, with lively informal events arranged amongst the pupils, full of laughter and fun, as well as a vast range of inter-House competitions in sport, music, drama, debating, quizzes and much more. This is a perfect opportunity to try something new and take part. Heroic failures are often celebrated just as much as stunning victories!
Most pupils join Charterhouse as either a day pupil or as a boarder.
