Synthesizing learning by teaching familiar lessons to younger peers.
Taking on more leadership and responsibilities in the classroom community.
Interacting socially with peers, becoming more capable of working out disputes with words, and connecting with lower school BUDEEs
Extending written follow-up activities and moving toward more abstract work Writing, both with the movable alphabet and with a pencil, and developing phonetic composition skills as well as letter formation. Beginning to blend sounds to decode (read) words, build reading fluency, learn spelling patterns, practice letter/number formation, and work on listening and reading comprehension. Taking on longer, multi-disciplinary projects according to units of study and the child’s interests.
Extending mathematical concepts, such as the decimal system and operations.
