New Core Curriculum Continued from pg. 4 stituted. For example, the popular COMM1100, “Human Communication” will be replaced by a new COMM course, and the new course will be acceptable in place of COMM1100 for current students who haven’t yet taken it. Those students already pursuing a degree program will stay on their current plan, unless they choose to move to the new plan. Changing to the new plan means the student would be switching to the 2017 catalog version of their major, including all other changes made as part of the Core update. Students are likely to find that changes to major requirements, as well as newly introduced requirements like the Writing course and the Common Course, would cause a delay in graduation. The Writing courses are phasing in gradually, so seats may be scarce. Once a student makes the decision to change catalog years, they cannot “go back.” If a student needs to simply change their major, however, they can do so while staying on their current catalog year, and thus the current Core Curriculum. Students considering whether to make the change in catalog year to take advantage of the new Core

20-24) was Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s (SAE) week of service. The fraternity organized and participated in various service events throughout the week, from Monday to Saturday. Planning for the event began as early as the end of February, although they began thinking about when to have the week in the beginning of the semester. Monday began their week as two groups of brothers went down to the downtown New Haven Soup Kitchen, to pre-
pare and serve food. Tuesday a group of nine brothers went to the West Haven beach for a beach clean-up. They sectioned off the beach, with two brothers per section, and collected six trash bags before the end of the day. On Wednesday and Thursday brothers went to the Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital to spend time with the patient’s creating arts and crafts and reading them stories. This was the first time the fraternity has done this, although it is the same hospital they host their Christmas toy drive to support. “The hospital event was probably my favorite event

The pitching will have to be good enough to keep the offense in the game. Then there is the New York Yankees who, though they refuse to admit it, are most likely rebuilding. However, this team is still good and should stay in the game thanks to Gary Sanchez. If Sanchez

“Girl Groups of Women’s Follow the Charger Bulletin History Month on Spotify!
o conclude Women’s History Month, The Charger Bulletin would like to share some of its favorite girl group songs of all time:
The Spice Girls - Say You’ll Be There (1997) The Spice Girls were the catalyst for late 90s bright, pure pop. This song gives you a harmonica solo, some G-funk sounds, a message of always being there for your lover, and a sexy video of the five Brit queens in the desert as ninja warriors. Destiny’s Child - Say My Name (2000) Coupled with a jiggy Darkchild beat, wah-wah guitar licks, and strings, this song captures the spirit of early 2000s R&B. Fans also knew from watching the video on MTV and BET that Beyonce was the second coming of Diana Ross. TLC - No Scrubs (1999) After a 5-year hiatus of bankruptcy, an arson charge for the late Left-Eye and a lawsuit, TLC came back swinging with their third album FanMail with “No Scrubs” as its lead single. Is it a male-bashing anthem or a message to girls out there to not settle for less? That’s for you to interpret. All Saints - I Know Where It’s At (1997) The same way the Rolling Stones came to rival the Beatles in the 1960s, All Saints rose when the Spice Girls dominated Europe and America in ‘96-99. “I Know Where It’s At” has a fresh pop sound mixed with hip-hop and mild R&B and a corny (but enjoyable) Left Eye-type rap verse from Shaznay Lewis. Dream - He Loves U Not (2000) If your high school rivalry with another girl over a cute guy were a song, it would be Dream’s Y2K-inflicted hit “He Loves U Not.” 3LW - No More (Baby I’ma Do Right) (2000) Kiely of 3LW’s infamous lisp carried this kiss-off classic to the boys who can’t “be a man, be a man man.” Fifth Harmony - Work From Home (feat. Ty Dolla $ign) (2016) The slinky beat, tropical clicks, and distinct tones of Fifth Harmony prove that they are a grown-up girl group of powerful women. Blaque - Bring It All to Me (feat. JC Chavez) (2000) Formerly teenage proteges of TLC’s Left Eye, Blaque found a top 5 pop hit in “Bring It All To Me” with a positive message to men out there: they “...don’t want your money, cars, diamonds or rings. [They] want you.” Danity Kane - Lemonade (feat. Tyga) (2014) This quintet, originally formed on MTV’s Making the Band, came back as four in 2013 for a comeback album and tour which only lasted for a year before splitting up again. The antidote to reintroduce them: the urban pop, booty-popping “Lemonade.” Topped off with Tyga’s fire guest verse, this song is a certified club banger that sadly never got the see light of day on the pop charts. The Pussycat Dolls - Buttons (feat. Snoop Dogg) (2006) Once a burlesque act in ‘90s Los Angeles, Robin Antin turned The Pussycat Dolls into a chart-topping girl group with Nicole Scherzinger as the front lady. Together PCD dropped several club tracks bursting with attitude. “Buttons” is one of their better releases with a sick beat drop and Middle Eastern flair.

The album opens with “Free Smoke” which starts out as a ballad but quickly turns into a hype song that fans would expect from Drake. This song isn’t something unexpected from him, but is still a good song to jam to. The song stands out in comparison to other new hits such as “Passionfruit,” “Madiba Riddim,” “Blem,” and “Gyalchester,” which all have dancehall influences on them. Even in their titles, the songs use words such as “gyal” and “riddim”, popular terms used in the titles of reggae and soca songs. Drake has been slowly

Prediction: Will not make playoffs NL Central: Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburg Pirates, Milwaukee Brewers, Cincinnati Reds The Chicago Cubs Finally broke the curse of the goat and beat the Cleveland Indians to win the 2016 World Series. With virtually the same team returning for the 2017 season, this team should
be the favorite to go back and potentially win another one. The only factor that potentially deter the Cubs is the dreaded world series hangover. We saw it with the Kansas City Royals in 2016 and the same is possible with this 2017 Cubs team. Prediction: NL Central Champions The St. Louis Cardinals are like the San Antonio Spurs of baseball, you never really hear about them in the news but they are always extremely good. This offseason the Cardinals signed former cub Dexter Fowler to bolster their outfield and relief pitcher Brett Cecil to round out the bullpen. Under the leadership of an aging Yadier Molina, the Cardinals should be a pretty well rounded team both offensively and defensively. With the Cubs in the same division it is going to be hard for the Cardinals to assert their dominance. Prediction: On the bubble The Pittsburgh Pirates had a little controversy this past offseason, that controversy was to keep or get rid of franchise player Andrew McCutchen. The Pirates engaged and entertained a lot of offers for the former MVP but in the end their asking price was too high, and they scared away

Their next big move was the signing of Calais Campbell, who adds some much needed strength to their d-line. Jacksonville might be a team to watch out for, if they can get their offense together. Now that Adrian Peterson is no longer a part of the Vikings, it was time for Minnesota to find themselves a new powerhouse in the backfield. They did just that in signing Latavius Murray. A Roundtable on Sexual Students Look to be Best Buddies Violence BY RILEY KNEBES STAFF WRITER
W
hy is it that
when people hear the term “sexual violence” they instantly become uncomfortable and change the subject? Why do they say that they already know enough about prevention strategies when this continues to be an ongoing problem on college campuses? And most importantly, why is everyone avoiding this conversation? These are just some of the questions that the University of New Haven, through the recent and ongoing Sexual Violence and Prevention Roundtables, is trying to address. These are problems that Undergraduate Student Government Association Representatives are pushing to solve by working from the inside out. On Friday, March 24, several members of USGA attended the 8th Sexual Violence Roundtable event to discuss the idea of climate change at the University and how to allow for students to feel more prepared to handle sexual violence situations. The open discussion encouraged students to talk about what does and does not

They would be expected to communicate with them regularly, meet with them once a week, and be involved in on campus activities. Hames has been friends with her buddy Matt for five years and she believes that these types of relationships can change a person’s outlook on life. “He’s not just someone in a club for me. He’s truly one of my close friends. He has shaped so many decisions in my life, such as my career. Because of my work with him I want to work with young children who have developmental and intellectual delays,” said Hames. A club like this could have an incredible impact on our campus community. STUDENT LIFE
UNH Tweets of the Week
SAE Week of Service Continued from pg. 6 that we ever had. We let the kids forget about why they’re at the hospital, it’s good for them to just forget about that and just be happy,” said Brian Hurley, Community Service Chair for SAE. Arts and crafts time was on Wednesday, which consisted of “weave your wishes.” The children got to create quilts out of parchment paper, which they weaved designs into as they made wishes into the quilts. The SAE brothers that were there made their own quilt with their own wish which read, “Sigma Alpha Epsilon of the University of New Haven wishes the kids happiness and good health.” “One girl was so happy to see us and I could tell she was smiling underneath her mask, quilting an A for her
