The hope is that over time people will have a solid idea and knowledge of the University of New Haven. “It is not about cosmetics, it is not about optics, this is intuitive that in the end of the day is about increasing enrollment,” Chamberlin said. “It’s all about having the University of New Haven be a destination school for prospective students and graduate students and for parents making this big decision.” Chamberlin also hopes that by successfully executing the transition and gaining the name recognition that the university deserves the degree earned within the university will be held with more value. The transition will bear to fiscal repercussions as the logo has already been updated to the university’s seal, sporting it’s entire name and the printed materials that utilized are constantly being printed, so an update will wreak no effect. “It’s time to stand up and cheer for the university and what it represents,” Chamberlin says.

Letter to the Editor

An Open Letter to the American People: I am an Iranian graduate student, studying and working as research assistant at the University of New Haven. During my first year of study in the U.S., I have met great people who always are there for me. From my neighbors, to my professors; from my host family to my landlord; I have learned from them to treat people based on morality and regardless of their religion, nationality, or color. Whenever I think of Americans, different scenes play in my mind like a movie. I see a scene in which a kind American woman who sat next to me on the plane, asked the flight attendant to bring me a beverage because I was sleeping and missed the service. I see a scene in which my landlord called me to help me feel better when my wife moved to Arizona to attend school. I see a scene in which my host family invited us for Thanksgiving and called our names in her speech. This movie is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen in my whole life, it continues as every day I add more and more scenes to it. Moreover, without the university’s financial support, I couldn’t afford my education expenses. They have provided me a great opportunity to improve myself and do research. All of these above, made me believe that I owe a lot to America and I had the desire to repay all of these kindnesses somehow. I am good in my field, I can train lots of students, I can publish my works here, and there are other ways I think of everyday that I could pay it forward. But suddenly, the president announced that he thinks of me as a terrorist! So why should I insist on staying in the U.S. anymore? There is now a voice inside me that says, “You have a GPA of 3.94, some submitted papers, and five years of working experience; apply for Canada, Australia, or other welcoming countries.” How can I resist this temptation? I am just one typical example of the huge population which is affected by this executive order. I know doctors, scientists, and even professors who have started to doubt U.S. democracy. I still can remember my mother crying in the airport when I was leaving. Only a heartless man can leave such fabulous parents forever, but I am not such a person. This new order legalizes one of the most inhumane things, which is separating families and nations. Having sized up from a hotel convention center, this year the convention was held in New York City’s Javits Center. 36 hours of programming over three days provided opportunities for attendees to pick and choose panels, workshops, discussions and meet and greets tailored to their own interests. The Broadway community of both performers and fans is and always has been tightknit. BroadwayCon is the first

event created specifically with that community in mind. “This is the convention the community deserves,” says co-founder Anthony Rapp on BroadwayCon’s website. Rapp is a veteran of the Broadway stage, best known for originating the role of Mark in Rent and reprising the role in the film adaptation. BroadwayCon is the place for the theater community to truly express themselves – hence choosing that specific Sondheim lyric as a brand of sorts for the event for years to come. It’s a space for theater kids, and grown-ups who are still theater kids at heart, to feel safe and find others who share

Leadership surrounds itself around being able to communicate effectively, solving problems and making decisions, being able to recognize and respect your values and perspectives, overcoming challenges, and the ability to work with others as a team to efficiently accomplish a common goal. Students were sent an email from the Center for Student Engagement, Leadership and Orientation office to announce National Compliment Day. It stated that throughout the day they could pick up a compliment for themselves, or to give away, at various buildings on campus. The compliments were put up on bulletin boards in Maxcy Hall, Kaplan Hall, and the Bartels Campus Center. This was an opportunity to make people aware that spreading positivity is extremely important. It allows people to express themselves and their love for the ones
