Ontario Strengthens Cultural and Economic Vitality of Francophonie The Ontario government is supporting 50 new projects, representing an overall investment of $2 million, under the 2022-2023 edition of the Francophone Community Grants Program. “The Ministry of Francophone Affairs received very high-quality projects from both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations this year,” said Caroline Mulroney, Minister of Francophone Affairs. “With the funds allocated today, the government reaffirms its commitment to the Francophone community by supporting its

cultural, community and entrepreneurial development.” Projects include initiatives that will help to recruit and train Francophone and bilingual workers, develop French-language services for women, youth, seniors and newcomers, and support exhibitions, festivals and cultural events that showcase Francophone heritage. The Francophone Community Grants Program is a central initiative of the Francophone Economic Development Strategy, one of the

objectives of which is to encourage and stimulate Francophone economic recovery through actions specifically targeting Francophone organizations and entrepreneurs. The application period for the 2022-23 Francophone Community Grants Program was launched on March 16, 2022. 40% of the projects selected are located in Eastern Ontario, 28% in Central Ontario, 18% in Western Ontario and 14% in Northern Ontario.

francophone en appuyant son développement culturel, communautaire et entrepreneurial. » Les projets comprennent des initiatives qui permettront de recruter et former des travailleurs francophones et bilingues, de développer des services en français pour les femmes, les jeunes, les aînés et les nouveaux arrivants francophones, et d’appuyer des expositions, des festivals et des manifestations culturelles mettant en valeur le patrimoine francophone. Le Programme d’appui à la francophonie ontarienne est une initiative centrale de la Stratégie

de développement économique francophone, dont un des objectifs vise à encourager et stimuler la relance économique francophone par le biais d’actions visant spécifiquement les organismes et les entreprises francophones. La période de candidature pour le Programme d’appui à la francophonie ontarienne 2022-23 a été lancée le 16 mars 2022. Quarante pour cent des projets retenus se situent dans l’Est de la province, 28 pour cent dans la région du Centre, 18 pour cent dans l’Ouest et 14 pour cent dans le Nord.

did not. Students and staff will take time to remember this special day and all it stands for with many schools beginning the day with a Morning Land Acknowledgement and a moment of silence. Schools and other board buildings will fly their flags at half-mast for the week. We are encouraging students and staff, especially those in Grade 5 to 12, to access virtual presentations being offered all week by the National Centre for Truth & Reconciliation.

Last year, Algoma District School Board reaffirmed our commitment to Indigenous partners and reconciliation, following the uncovering of unmarked graves. We committed at that time and we continue to commit to valuing our partnerships with Indigenous communities and organizations, to building and strengthening these partnerships across our school communities and to ensuring that all students learn about Indigenous perspectives within the curriculum, including the history Cont’d on P.2
