A ghost story By Avry Poulin There I was, at the park, enjoying some ice cream. Vanilla with caramel drizzle and a cherry on top. I looked over to see a woman with a microphone and a man with a camera approaching me. “Hey! How do you feel about the rumors?” “W--What rumors?” I replied. “The ghost rumors!” “I don't know. I haven't heard any rumors.” I didn't know what she was talking about. The reporter then told me that there have been reports of ghosts spotted around town. I was so scared that I raced home shaking.
The House By Ophelia Lortie Once upon a time, I was visiting a town called Linberg. At school I had heard rumors about a haunted house at the end of Cogsmere Road. I decided to have a look for myself. In fact, there was a house. Some of the windows were broken and the wood looked rotten. It was two stories, had a small porch with a roof and a few steps to the door. It looked like some place bats, racoons, mice, or rats Long Term would want to live. I Forecast didn't think it was really Thursday haunted, so I walked up High 7 the steps toward the Low 2 door. Friday I turned the High 10 doorknob, and with a Low 4 loud creak, the door Saturday High 12 Low 3

Vol. 27, Issue 9, October 27, 2022 I decided it must not have been real so I tried to try to relax and ran a bath and made a cup of tea. I turned on some music and tried not to think about what the reporter had said, but all I could do was think about it. I wanted to get it off my mind so bad but I had so many questions. How are there ghosts? Ghosts don't exist! My mind was racing. I woke the next day to my alarm, I had barely gotten any sleep. I did have a dream though, it started with me walking home from school. I stopped to get some ice cream, as usual, but as I was paying I saw a tall shadow-like figure with long arms and glowing eyes. I grabbed my ice cream and sat down. When I looked back, it was gone. I woke up before I saw what happened next. I got ready for school, grabbed my bologna sandwich and tossed it in my bag. On my way, I saw Bella, my best friend. “Hi Katie!”
“Hi Bella”, I replied, “Where have you been? I have been looking for you all over!” I started to tell her about my dream when I noticed she wasn't paying attention at all. “Bella?” She was looking past me with fear in her eyes. “G-Gghost!” she yelled. I looked over to see the same figure that Cont’d on P.2
opened. Inside was an old red carpet and a living room with a table in the center. There were some stairs to get to the second story. There was also a broken door across the room that led to an old kitchen. I walked onto the red carpet. I looked around for any nails sticking up out of the floor because I didn't feel like stepping on one. There weren't any, so I walked toward the dresser that was in the living room. Some of the drawers creaked as I opened them. I felt as if I was being watched. Then, with a loud bang, the door shut. It startled me, so I dropped the newspapers that I had found in the dresser. The newspapers said that no one wanted the house, so the owner decided to just leave, and the house had been abandoned. No one came to live in it, so it rotted. I wondered how those papers got here? I decided it was just the wind that made the door close, so I walked up the stairs that led to the next story and went into one of the r o o m s . I
felt as if I was being watched again, but I told myself that this house wasn't haunted. Then, as I was walking down the hall to the other room, I heard a noise. A low, deep moaning sound. I turned around, but no one was there. I started to get worried, so I quickly went to the desk in the corner of the room and found some old papers. Some of them were handwritten, but very lightly, and faded. Cont’d on P.2
