Retirement of an "icon" on VIA Train 185/186 Lise DUGAS, Service Manager Via Rail Canada of service to the communities on the line. Lise official "last run" is on Friday, May 17, when Train #186 will stop in Chapleau at 10:32AM. The train will continue but a void will be left in the community by a remarkable person with a heart of gold, she will be missed by so many – Good luck in your retirement Lise.

n Sunday, May 5th, a large gathering of fiends and fellow travellers on VIA Train #185/186 gathered at the Chapleau, CPKC/VIA station to wish Lise farewell in her retirement after 7 years as the Service Manage on the three times a week train Long Term c alled the Lake Forecast Superior. Thursday Lise had become High 15 Low 9 more than an employee of VIA she had become Friday High 14 a good friend and Low 5 lifeline for so many people in Ontario's Saturday High Low
North, as this train was the preferred mode of transportation for so many people that required medical services in Sudbury, etc. The train becomes the only means of transportation to so many remote lodges and camps along the 300miles (480km) between Sudbury and White River. Be it unloading a week's supply of groceries to a lodge or several canoes and boats, and a supply of building materials, the VIA train does it all, and Lise coordinates all of this as well as looking after the passengers which in the Summer can be 100+ on the train.
