Célébrons Notre Diversité Culturelle
L
Celebrating Our Cultural Diversity
T
he Club Maria Chapdelaine wants to organize a Cultural Weekend the last weekend of September to celebrate the cultural diversity, art, music and cuisine of the people of Chapleau. We believe in the richness of cultural exchanges and inclusion. In order to celebrate these values, we believe that a festive event that brings together the different
nationalities of our small community would be an excellent way to learn more about them. Therefore, we would like to know if people or associations would be interested in submitting a request to have a booth at such an event. If the interest is there, we will move forward with the activity. Contact us by the end of July at (705) 864-0516

NDP: Conservatives Senior Dental Care Expansion Welcome, but More Needed
O
ntario NDP Seniors Critic Lise Vaugeois and Health Critic France Gélinas are releasing a statement after the Ford government finally listened to their calls and increased the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program (OSDCP) income threshold. "The NDP has long been advocatLong Term ing for changes to the Forecast OSDCP, and this is a Thursday first step in helping lowHigh 18 income seniors get the Low 7 care they rightfully Friday deserve and need. factored in years ago when making these thresholds. We must continue to adjust these figures to reflect current economic realities, so seniors don't have to endure excruciating wait times for essential dental care," said Vaugeois. "The next step for the Conservative government is to work with dentists, community health centres, and aboriginal health access centres to increase the number of providers that serve seniors through the OSDCP." "While this change is a positive development, it's important to remember that the cost of everything has gone up under this conservative government,” said Gélinas. “The Ontario cut-off will still leave many low-income seniors ineligible and without care.”
“I've had constituents who were just dollars over the limit and had to stop receiving care during their dental treatment b e c a u s e t h i s Conservative government limited eligibility. We must remember them and figure out a plan to get them the best care possible so that never happens again," concluded Vaugeois.
