Behind the Scenes: Our Faculty’s Ongoing Professional Development Journey Ms. Juliana Menezes Superintendent
Inside Mondays:
Faculty Development That Fuels Our Mission
As part of our commitment and partnership with families, this newsletter from the Superintendent offers a window into the meaningful work happening behind the scenes each week. Every Monday, our faculty engages in Professional Development sessions, led by different faculty members, focused on enhancing teaching practices, deepening collaboration, and ultimately supporting student learning and growth. Through these updates, we hope to keep our community informed and connected to the continuous efforts that enrich our students' educational experience.
English as the Language that Unites Us American Program Curriculum Coordinator
One of our NEASC major learning plans, "English as the Language that Unites Us," emerged from a thoughtful and collaborative internal reflection process involving all of our teachers. As an International American School, this initiative is centered on strengthening communication to ensure every community member feels a true sense of belonging within an inclusive and connected environment. To support this important goal, our teachers participated in a professional development session on August 4. This session offered meaningful opportunities for them to reflect on their teaching practices and explore new ways to integrate our learning plan into daily classroom experiences. Our educators foster dynamic and inclusive learning environments that develop students' linguistic skills and enhance their social and emotional connections through purposeful communication. This unified effort positively impacts our students' academic growth and overall well-being.
Digital Citizenship: Safety and Privacy Technology Coordinator
In our professional development session on Digital Citizenship, we focused on becoming more aware of the information we share online through a lens of privacy and safety. In the age of AI, we must pay close attention to the terms and conditions we agree to when using online services. Just as we teach our students, we are all called to be mindful of what personally identifiable information we share with online services. The workshop included discussions around seemingly futuristic technologies that we can already see popping up in São Paulo and other cities around the world. We are confident that this training and its discussions will have a positive impact on our faculty's mindset regarding information sharing and, consequently, on our students.
