This trip aims to take the students to the centre of American struggle in the US South to visit key sights on what the Americans call ‘The Freedom Trail.’

Classics Trip

The Classics Department usually run an annual trip and alternate between Italy and Greece.

Classical Civilisation and Latin students will have the exciting opportunity to visit key Roman sites and artefacts in person; to appreciate what they would have been like at the time we study. They have significant links to Classical Civilisation GCSE (both papers) and A Level (Greek Art paper), but would also be helpful for Latin students to broaden their understanding of the ancient world which they study.

The Silver Award consists of four sections designed to provide a balanced program of personal development: Volunteering: 6 months of dedicated service to a community or environmental cause.

Physical & Skills: One section for 6 months and the other for 3 months.

Annual Bronze DofE Practice & Assessed Expeditions

Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) Award is a milestone opportunity for Year 9 pupils to step outside their comfort zones, discover hidden talents, and develop the "soft skills" that are essential for success in later life.

The DofE is the world’s leading youth achievement award. It is not a competition; rather, it is a personal challenge that allows pupils to choose activities that reflect their own interests and passions.

To achieve their Bronze Award, pupils will complete four distinct sections:

Volunteering Physical Skills Expedition: A two-day, one-night selfsufficient trek including camping and team navigation. There will be a practice walk in the Chilterns on Tuesday, followed by a two-day assessed expedition in the New Forest.
