Welcome to Chaminade’s Center for Excellence Summer Camp!

We’re excited to have your young Eagles join us for a summer ﬁlled with discovery, creativity, and fun.

Our camps provide an engaging mix of activities designed to spark curiosity and inspire hands-on learning. Whether exploring STEAM projects, outdoor adventures, or our Eagle Explorer programs, campers will make new friends, build conﬁdence, and explore their interests in a dynamic and supportive environment.

At Chaminade, your child’s safety and well-being are our top priorities. We’ve created a secure and nurturing space where every camper can express themselves, take on new challenges, and grow academically and personally.

Our 2026 Summer Academy offers even more opportunities for students in grades K-12. Our weekly sessions provide hands-on learning with exciting themes, from robotics to reading and art to engineering. Our specialty camps—Musical Theater, VEX Robotics, and Sports Camps—let students dive deeper into their passions.

Trafﬁc Flow & Check-in Locations

Chatsworth Campus

• Enter campus through the Oakdale Gate near the security booth. Follow the drop-off lane toward the gym.

• Mondays only: Parents may park in the Oakdale lot and walk campers to sign-in.

• Tuesday–Friday: Chaminade is a locked campus; campers must be dropped off in front of the gym. Counselors and staff will greet and check-in campers.

• Morning and afternoon trafﬁc is one-way. Exit through the automated gate when leaving.

West Hills Campus

• Enter through the Cohasset Gate and follow the trafﬁc pattern marked by cones.

• Proceed up the hill to the Bob Hope Student Center for check-in. Look for the Center for Excellence Check-In sign. DO NOT check in at the front ofﬁce.

• Drop-off options:

◦ Curbside: Stop in front of the Student Center/Cafeteria, where staff will check in your student.

◦ Walk-In: Park along the Tutor Center and walk your student to check-in.

◦ DO NOT drop off at the ﬁeld or gym.

• Exit through the Keswick Gate (one-way only)

Minecraft Redstone Engineers

Step beyond simply “playing” Minecraft and become a true Redstone engineer. Expand your Redstone knowledge by constructing your carnival with various mini-games, roller coasters, and attractions powered by Redstone. Learn how to use Command and Structure blocks to incorporate them into your builds. Activate your skills and take your Minecraft structures to the next level!

ROBLOX Coders

Discover the Lua coding language while designing experiences in ROBLOX®, an online universe where you can create anything you dream of. This class combines game design concepts, coding, and fun! New developers will learn to use Roblox’s Studio software to reimagine the popular game genres with their own custom code! Student-created games will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program

Young Coders

Every child can code! Develop your skills as a young coder by exploring block coding, JavaScript, and Python concepts while making your playable mini-games. Designed to get elementary-aged students excited, this introductory coding course is about technology through a series of hands-on and engaging learning challenges. Student-created games will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Video Game Animation

In this camp, you will go well beyond the limitations of the traditional 2D game design classes and create an immersive 3D world. Students will learn the physics behind bringing your animations to life with design tools used by real game developers! Create sophisticated sprite animations using simple-to-learn techniques that you can use in any 2D editor. Squash, stretch, and shade your creations to make your characters pop! Students do not need prior experience i n game design, animation, or sketching. Student-created games will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Young Game Designers

This beginner game development course is designed to excite elementary-age students about technology through hands-on and engaging learning activities. Recreate classic video games while exploring level design and digital arts concepts. Experience child-friendly software while learning the game development process. Show off the awesome games you create on a special, password-protected website to share with your friends and family!

YouTube Content Creators

Find your voice and leave your mark on Whether you are six or sixteen, it’s time as the next YouTube star. Explore content and personalities on YouTube your niche. Learn the Dos and Don’ts platform and how to practice good digital citizenship. Develop your on-camera presence, channel branding, and professional editing skills.

Take home a plan for launching your channel with the content created in class! Student projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

The Drones are here! Let the battles begin. This hands-on, interactive class will teach you how to obots safely. Robotics For Competition

Join Chaminade’s internationally recognized Eagle Engineering robotics team! Learn basic engineering concepts in a way that’s so fun you’ll forget that it’s preparing you as the next generation of innovators, inventors, and technicians. Students work in teams and create and operate a robot to compete in a game inspired by this year’s VEX Robotics Competition. No experience is necessary. The course fee includes a healthy snack and lunch every day of the week!

Palette of Art

A fun, creative camp designed for artists to explore different mediums and techniques. Activities include building paper creatures, friendship bracelets, sculpting and painting ﬁgures, drawing, and more! This week is all about creativity and exploration.

Artistic Crafts Camp

Students will explore ceramics, printing/ stamp making, and acrylic painting, creating multiple pieces each week using the designated material. At the end of the camp, students will be able to showcase their work at an “art show” for friends, family, and other summer students to attend.

Ultimate Drawing Foundations

Unlock the secrets of drawing with personalized instruction! Start with the basics: shapes, proportions, and shading, and progress to more complex compositions. Students will work on drawings, observational studies, and tonal

Camp Cricut Create!

It doesn’t take an artist to create one-of-a-kind projects. Using the computer program Design Space, students can easily tap into their creative side to create images on tablet computers. Watch their designs come to life as they create one-of-a-kind tote bags, water bottles, t-shirts, and more. Creativity and technology come together in this camp as students print their designs on Cricut Makers.

Mine Design

Anime and Cartoon Animation

Step into the world of animation! Students will create hand-painted animation cels using acrylic paint. Learn about color, line work, and layering techniques to bring your favorite anime and cartoon inspirations to life.

Cardboard Superheroes

JJoin us for an exciting week-long camp where students can bring their creativity to life and experience the magic of Cardboard Superheroes ﬁrsthand! We are proud to partner with Cardboard Superheroes, a non-proﬁt organization that fosters creativity, innovation, and the arts in education. As a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) driven organization, Cardboard Superheroes pushes the boundaries of learning, inspiring the next generation through hands-on artistic exploration.

Musical Theater Intensive

The Musical Theater Intensive offers students entering grades 7–12 an immersive theater experience focused on performance, collaboration, and creative growth. Over the course of the program, students will rehearse daily as they work toward a fully staged musical production presented on Chaminade’s performing arts stage.

Participants will develop skills in acting, singing, and movement while gaining ﬁrsthand experience in the rehearsal process, from auditions and character development to ensemble work and live performance. Instruction is led by experienced theater professionals who foster a supportive, non-competitive environment that encourages conﬁdence, discipline, and artistic expression.

This intensive is designed for students who love musical theater and are eager to challenge themselves, build community, and grow as performers while being part of a high-quality production.

Introduction to Musical Theater

This one-week program designed for students entering grades 2–6 who are excited to explore the fundamentals of musical theater. In a fun, supportive environment, students are introduced to music, movement, and acting while building conﬁdence and creativity on stage.

Throughout the week, participants work with age-appropriate musical theater material and learn the basics of the rehearsal process through songs, scenes, and group activities. The program concludes with an informal showcase, allowing students to share what they’ve learned with family and friends.

Dance

Join our whimsical world where young dancers embark on a journey of self-expression, creativity, and rhythmic exploration. This vibrant camp is specially crafted for children in the elementary age group, offering a delightful blend of movement, as they learn and try various dance genres.

Campers will have the opportunity to express themselves through various dance styles, fostering a sense of conﬁdence and individuality.

In addition, movement, through fun group activities and collaborative dance routines, campers develop essential social skills. Friendships blossom as they share the excitement of mastering new dance moves together, in a supportive and inclusive environment.

No prior dance experience necessary.

Join us at our Dance Explorations, where every twirl, leap, and pirouette contribute to a magical week of learning, friendship, and creative expression!

Attire: Campers should come in athletic clothing that they are able to easily move in. Dance shoes are not necessary. Campers should be prepared to dance barefoot or in sneakers (hip hop).

Dance Intensive

Hosted by Chaminade High School and led by Rachel Fee, Chaminade’s Director of Cheer & Song and Song Coach, this dance intensive is designed for dancers looking to strengthen technique, expand versatility, and gain experience across a variety of dance styles in a focused and supportive environment.

Throughout the week, dancers will explore multiple styles while reinforcing strong technical foundations. Daily training blends technique and choreography with an emphasis on musicality, quick retention, clean execution, and the ability to adapt to formations and perform conﬁdently as part of a team.

The intensive concludes with a mini showcase for families, giving dancers the opportunity to share their growth and newly learned choreography.

Cheer and Song

Hosted by Chaminade High School and led by the Chaminade Cheer and Song coaching staff, this summer camp is designed to prepare students for participation on middle school and high school cheer and dance teams.

Campers will learn the Chaminade Fight Song routine, band chants, and game-day style dances performed at school rallies, football games, and basketball games. Athletes focusing on cheer will train in tumbling and stunting with Coach Makenna, while dancers will build and reﬁne technique, including jumps, legs, and turns, with Coach Rachel.

This camp provides a high-energy, supportive environment for students from all schools and programs, offering strong foundational training and game-day experience that translates across cheer and dance teams at any level.

At our summer camp indoor soccer, participants learn sport-speciﬁc fundamentals and achieve personal-best performances. Focused on skill development, the indoor setting provides a consistent and comfortable environment for learning. Our camp goes

Join our Coach Machuca and Coach Riley, as well as our varsity coaching staff and players, this summer to learn the skills needed to compete at the next level. Players will develop a strong foundation in football fundamentals, including passing, catching, tackling, and teamwork.

Boys' Lacrosse

Join our Chaminade varsity coaching staff to see what Eagle Lacrosse is all about! Players will learn offensive and defensive skills as well as have a great time. Players will be grouped by level of play and skill.

Volleyball Camp

Join our volleyball coach in the gym to work on your game skills! This summer program will improve your current skills while having fun. Players are grouped by ability and age.

Girls' Volleyball Camp

Join Coach Suarez, head coach of Chaminade’s state championship girls’ volleyball team, and train like a champion. Sharpen your skills, enhance your technique, elevate your game, and experience what it’s like to be part of Eagle Volleyball!

Baseball Camp

Join us on the ﬁeld with the varsity coaching staff and players this summer to learn the skills needed to compete at the next level. Players will learn offensive and defensive skills as well as have a great time. Player will be placed in groups according to ability.

Advanced Baseball Skills

This advanced skills camp is for students entering 6th – 8th grade in the Fall of 2024. Learn advanced skills to get you ready to compete at the high school level.

Mock Trial

Learn about the criminal justice system from the coaches of the ﬁve-time Los Angeles County Champion Chaminade Mock Trial Team. Students will learn the skills of trial advocacy including rules of evidence, how to examine witnesses, give opening statements, and make closing arguments. On the last day of camp, students will have the opportunity to present a criminal trial for parents and family. Open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.

Eagle Explorer Camp

This camp offers an enriching experience through its exploration of our weekly themes and are designed to captivate students in cross-disciplinary activities. This program ignites a lifelong passion for learning while fostering essential skills in language arts, science, engineering, and art and movement. Each week unveils a distinct curriculum, ensuring a dynamic and engaging educational journey without repetition. Students in our Eagle Explorer Camp participate in a series of activities carefully crafted to build upon one another. Spark the Imagination! Dream it, design it, build it! Campers will unleash their imagination and problem-solving abilities to bring their ideas to fruition. Each week, campers have the opportunity to develop new skills and tackle new challenges, with our weekly theme inﬂuencing the project curriculum. Policies and Procedures

Registration Changes and Updates

The Center for Excellence strives to accommodate your needs while maintaining efﬁcient program operations. Please note the following policies regarding registration changes:

Making Changes to Your Registration

• Email Required: All changes must be submitted via email to centerforexcellence@chaminade.org

• Form Modiﬁcations: Once submitted, forms cannot be edited directly by participants.

• Change Fee: Effective May 1, 2026, a $25 administrative fee will apply to all camp changes

Cancellation Policy

• Full Refund: Available for cancellations made at least one week prior to the program start date.

• Written Notice: Must be sent to centerforexcellence@chaminade.org

• Late Cancellations: No refunds for cancellations made less than one week before start date

• Credit Option: Fees from late cancellations may be applied to future programming

What to Bring to Camp

To ensure your child has the best possible experience, please bring:

• Reﬁllable Water Bottle: Stay hydrated throughout our active day

• Comfortable Shoes: Perfect for exploring and adventuring

• Positive Attitude: Essential for making friends and having fun!

Please Do Not Bring

• Outside toys or personal play items

• Note: Any unauthorized items may be held by staff until the end of the day

General Information

• Each student will be assigned to a counselor who will be responsible for taking students to class and assisting them during the day.

• All program materials will be provided to students in their classrooms, it is not necessary to bring any classroom supplies to summer programs.

• If you are participating in a sports camp, please be sure to wear appropriate athletic attire during the day, bring water and sunscreen.

• Dress code during the summer includes modest, school-appropriate summer attire and closed-toe shoes. No ﬂip-ﬂops please.

Aftercare 3:00 pm - to 5:30 pm daily

• Available for an additional weekly fee

• Located in Campus Ministry (to the right of the main entrance).

• Please pre-register for aftercare if you anticipate needing this service during the week to ensure that this service is appropriately staffed to guarantee the safety of all the children attending.

• If you pick up your child after 3:15 pm, you will pick them up in the Student Center and charged the appropriate fee.

• Aftercare ends promptly at 5:30 pm. If you are late picking up your child from aftercare, please note that campers picked up after 5:30 p.m. will be charged $1 per minute to be paid directly to the aftercare supervisor upon pick-up.
