VEX A Fresh Start for 2023-2024 Students wasted no time getting the new robotics season off to a head start by organizing our workspaces and prepping for two summer camps. In case you missed the shout outs on Ryver, Tommy had high praise for some hard working students. Myles Reilly. “You are an absolute baller, and I am so grateful that you took a broad outline of direction and turned it into an incredible orchestration of detail-oriented work, while leading by example.” Robert Simpson: “You took on a giant challenge and took full ownership of seeing it through, including CADding an entire new section of the instruction manual!”

Chaminade Center For Excellence Robotics for Competition All of the team’s hard work prepping and getting ready for camp paid off with two smoothly run camps and highly effective daily afternoon meetings throughout June. Several of our team members were counselors for this amazing oneweek summer program, mentoring and coaching 5 th-9th grade students on VEX robotics, programming and strategy. The team served 36 students over two one-week camps, concluding on July 14 th.

Much gratitude and many thanks to:

Mon: The campers broke into teams and built basic clawbots.

Nolan Leonhardt and David Berg for their work on developing a new modification of the clawbot kit to play this game. Ryder Camp and Christine Chambers for outstanding effort and output on our infrastructure this week. In addition to supporting the clawbot upgrade project, they put in lots of hours on multiple projects, including huge progress on the Vex lockers. Josh, Katie and Edwin Guerra who have put in extra hours on making our space look great for camp while getting in big progress on the Vex lockers.

Tue: The team ran their clawbots through competition, and then made minor rebuilds to their robots to improve performance. Wed: The teams tested their rebuilds in competition and then made major rebuilds to their bots. Thur: One more test, few more tweaks and practice for the final competion on Friday. Fri: Final competition and clean up. Hopefully we'll see these campers again in a few years when they're in High School.
