Test-Optional Admissions Takeaways -
Many schools will remain test optional next year. GPA remains king, but you should pursue your best possible SAT/ACT score. Reporting SAT/ACT scores below what a school typically accepts can hurt your chances. An app with no scores will not be compared to an app with scores reported. You can report scores to some, all, or none of the schools to which you apply. Applications to many popular schools are up significantly (15+%), while SUNY apps are down significantly (approx. 20%). Why?

Ultra-competitive schools are as selective as they’ve ever been. (Ivy, MIT, Duke, G’town, Amherst, Williams, Academies )

Chaminade applicants are being admitted to top-50 schools with and without reporting scores. High college costs are not deterring many applicants. Schools are accepting larger #s from Early Decision pool. (Is ED right for you? Discuss with counselor.) A balanced, manageable lists of schools = low stress, high yield. Use a pyramid model to apply: -
Top (smallest section) - reach schools Middle (bigger) - target (50%) schools Bottom (biggest) - likely & safety schools (most likely to award merit $) Your counselor will help you build a balanced, realistic list.
