Starting with Art A dramatic art piece can be a great starting point for selecting a color palette for flooring, counters, walls and furniture pieces. Using the Chameleon Style® Design Method we chose to pull out the bright greens of the Helicopter Blade Art Piece for a fresh Spring look.
This Chameleon Fine Furniture™ slipcovered Jessica Sofa pops the colors of this Helicopter Blade Art from Artist Nicki Sucec (nickisucec.com).
Art as Inspiration... Creating other looks... A more subdued look is achieved with the same art piece as the inspiration by dressing the Jessica Sofa in a subtle grey (Soft Knit color Charcoal) and adding the vibrant orange and limes through the accent pillows.

With the popularity of today’s easy-care flooring options; (tile that looks like wood, wood that resembles tiles) an area rug becomes an essential element of a successful décor theme. With the many options of flooring available it will be easy to find the right hue or shade of flooring to match a rug. It is far more difficult to find the right combination of theme, texture, content, colors and price in the perfect area rug to complement the floor.

From your Inspiration Fabric (at Chameleon Style® we call it a Key Fabric because it opens the door of myriad possibilities for your home’s décor), it is possible to pull out many different colors using the fabric itself in different ways. Pictured is Majorca Smoke stretched on canvas serving as a large art piece. We highlighted the deep charcoal grey tones by adding our Chameleon Fine Furniture™ slip-covered Parker Bench in Turbo Iron.
A LITTLE BIT IN A PILLOW
Using a quintessential white couch as a back drop, the inspiration fabric can always be as simple as a great accent pillow. Here Majorca Smoke pops the sky blue tones along with subtle grey.
ADDING IT TO BEDDING
A dramatic body pillow in the Inspiration fabric, Majorca Smoke adds a pop of color to any bed ensemble. Here we chose the taupey-grey tones of the fabric in our Classique Mouse upholstered headboard to enhance the warmer tones.

The inspiration fabrics and coordinating fabrics are best used as changeable accents such as toss pillows, “obis” and other accessories. The most challenging part of the Chameleon Style® Design Method is to just collect as many coordinates and fabrics without eliminating any too soon because of texture or cost.

The Chameleon Style® Obi wrap reverses to a clean tailored look for Fall-Winter.
Creating the Second look... Once your inspiration and coordinate fabrics are selected, it becomes much easier and a lot of fun to put it all together. We used the bridge color(s) on the the pieces that either don't change or aren't easily changeable like the headboard and the duvet...but you'll notice we chose a different fabric for the reverse side of the duvet for more options. There's actually more to this entire bedding ensemble than meets the eye...we found that we can create even more combinations with just the flip of one or more items!

FABRIC AS INSPIRATION
It is still possible to have two more looks using just one Inspiration Fabric in your décor. We chose Robert Allen’s Peony Vine color Birch because of its many color possibilities. Although a floral it has a somewhat more modern take by incorporating a background pattern. This fabric can also reflect a “Granny Cottage” look to a more formal traditional style.
“Jessica” (left) is dressed in PKLifestyles Reba color Beige which is really a soft ivory with just hint of tone. We love this fabric as it is completely washable in the washing machine.
On the right we changed “Jessica” to a warmer chenille – PK Lifestyle’s Grotto color gilded. The luscious texture of this chenille makes it a cozy choice for Fall and Winter. We added a jet black throw pillow to add a little pop.

Two Looks with ONE Fabric!
Using your Inspiration Fabric in things that don’t change... By using the Inspiration Fabric in the drapes for the window treatments we were able to achieve seasonal looks on the Slip-covered Chameleon Fine Furniture™ Jessica Sofa. The wall color is the Bridge Color™ for the two seasonal looks. It is Dusty Mountain from Behr (Home Depot). Its strong hue provides great back drop for the two different covers on the slip-covered sofa.

It seems somewhat frivolous to be espousing great decorating ideas. But as there are two sides to any story, it is also evident that we are paying more attention to our homes and our surroundings.
