9 AM-1 PM, SEPTEMBER 21 PUBLIC WORKS, 19700 PLEASANT DR St. Clair Shores residents are invited to drop off their household hazardous and electronic waste at this event waste held in the Civic Ice Arena parking lot. Residents will stay in their cars as Priority employees retrieve the waste fromWaste their trunk. Please have your ID available to check. A list of accepted items is available on the city website at www.scsmi.net under “Garbage & Recycling.”

ANNUAL POLICE OUTDOOR OPEN HOUSE 10 AM-2 PM, OCTOBER 12 BLOSSOM HEATH PARK, 24800 JEFFERSON AVE. The PD will be hosting our annual Open House” on Saturday, October“Outdoor 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Blossom Heath Park. Officers in attendance will be to meet, answer questions and available show off equipment. Family activities, goodies for kids and food will be available. All are welcome to attend - park passes are not needed to attend this event.

CHECK OUT THE NEW LIBRARY

The St. Clair Shores Public Library launched a new website that connects patrons to the main city website. You can still access the library at www.scslibrary.org, but now you’ll find a whole new layout to help you navigate. At the top of the page, you can easily access the library catalog, newsletter, and event calendar. The event calendar allows you to register for events that need registration or save an event to your personal calendar. To learn more about the library’s regularly programs like storytimes, visit “Services” held and pick the age group you want to check out. The library offers programs for adults, teens, and children of various ages. There’s also a way to easily access all the extra perks your library card gives you. On the front page are links to access Libby/Overdrive, Hoopla, Comics Plus, Tutor.com, and Transparent Language Online. These give you easy access to multiple catalogs of material you can digitally check out, or, for Tutor.com and Transparent Languages, you have access to a database of information to help you learn. All these services are available with a card. To learn more about library cards, library click the top navigation that reads “Library Cards,” and you’ll find all the library policies and information you may need to make the most of your card. More policies like the internet and printing policies are available in the “About Us” section of the site. New programs and information will be posted on the front page, advertising great new opportunities for fun and learning at the library.

NEW WATER BILLS? Residents and business owners changes to their water bill after themay notice next billing cycle. The city is redesigning the current bills to provide more straightforward information and help everyone understand their charges. Keep a look out for the next bill during your usual billing cycle.

With the library joining the city website, we’ve added a whole new History section with articles about the city’s history, businesses, photographs, and more, all thanks to the Historical Commission. This section is available on the main www.scsmi.net site under “Community,” but you can also access it through the “About Us” navigation in the library section. A preview and navigation guide is available on Page 6.

Messy Makers 2 PM, Tuesday, Oct. 8 Registration begins Sept. 30 Get your art on! This 30-minute program for preschool children (ages 3-5) will messy and full of hands-on exploration be and experimentation to create works of art. Adults must stay with children. Space is limited. Teen Cemetarium Workshop 2:30-3:30 PM, Saturday, Oct. 12 Registration begins Sept. 30 Teens in grades 6-12 can create an eerie cemetarium perfect for the spook season. All supples will be provided to create a ghoulish scene and snack will be served. Space is limited so remember to register. Charming Creatures Pumpkin Craft 6 PM, Monday, Oct. 21 Registration begins Oct. 7 Participants will decorate a charming faux pumpkin with a playful animal theme that add a whimsical touch to your Halloween will decor. This program is open to crafters 18 and over. Local Author Showcase 1 PM, Saturday, Oct. 19 Readers can meet a cadre of Michigan at the library to speak and converseauthors about their books. Guests will be admitted starting at 1 p.m. with an author’s presentation program beginning at 1:30 p.m. A list of authors will be available closer to the event date.

Grosse Pointe Theatre: An Evening of Entertainment 6:30 PM, Tuesday, Oct. 22 Library patrons are invited to an hour of readers’ theatre in the library, courtesy of Grosse Pointe Theatre (GPT). The troupe of actors will present short vignettes, jokes, faily tales and inspirational thoughts. The performers are all part of Act II, GPT’s traveling group of senior actors who perform preograms around the community.

The St. Clair Shores City Council listened to an annual report presented by Tony Leese, the director of the South East Regional Emergency Services Authority, at their meeting on Aug. 19. SERESA handles the 911 dispatch center for Roseville, Fraser, Eastpointe and St. Clair Shores. The report was for 2023 and Leese said in a letter attached to the meeting’s agenda that the year saw more progress and improvement in SERESA’s service delivery. “I am grateful for the professional and dedicated SERESA staff who carry out our vital public safety role each day, and each night, year-round,” Leese said in the letter. According to the items attached to the agenda, SERESA experienced updates to policy, an organizational restructuring,
