NEW! ASSUMPTION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH ICONOGRAPHY TOURS

The Assumption Church is graced with iconography from the world-renowned iconographer Vlasis Tsotsonis. Mr. Tsostonis is considered one of the most faithful and gifted representatives of the Byzantine iconographic tradition, and he has been commissioned as the chief iconographer of churches in the U.S., Greece and Europe. Mr. Tsotsonis’s work has been featured in exhibitions all over the world, as well as the Hellenic Museum of Michigan and Arab Museum of Michigan. Christian iconography is an ancient art that was of central importance both to the worship and catechism of early Christians. It flourished in the Byzantine era but has been used throughout the 2,000-year history of the Orthodox Church. Not only do icons convey the beauty of eternity to those who behold them, but they are important teaching tools through which the lives of Christ, the Apostles, and ancient and modern saints have been preserved and shared from one generation of Christians to the next. Recognizing the great value of its iconography, not just for the Christian world but for anyone with an interest in art, history, anthropology or religion, the Assumption Church offers guided tours of its iconography to groups and individuals. SCHEDULE YOUR TOUR NOW! Call (586) 779-6111.
