Muncie Public Library, Sunflower Story Time at Maring Hunt Garden
Let’s Chat This year continues to bring new opportunities and adventures for The Community Foundation. Our staff and volunteers continue to learn and grow together. We look to our history as we settle into our new positions, our new space, and our new roles in the community. This issue of Legacy is focused on learning. We hope you enjoy the list of scholarship recipients who will benefit from scholarship funds at The Community Foundation as they pursue higher education. We share the story of neighbors who created a fund to encourage lifelong learning, which they value in their lives. You can read about Community Grants awarded throughout the second quarter of 2023 totaling more than $300K. Grants support arts and culture, community betterment, economic development, human services, and of course, education. I hope you are excited about the big things happening at The Community Foundation. Would you like to learn more about how The Community Foundation can be your philanthropic partner? Please give us a call or stop by. We can’t wait to chat with you! Marcy Minton President & CEO
Sharing a Love of Learning
Larry and Barbara Ottinger
Lifelong learning has always been an important part of education for Larry and Barbara Ottinger. As educators, they’ve seen different facets of education both in and out of the classroom. They’ve been involved in elementary classrooms through adult education, and their broad experiences with education have informed their perspective on it. “We saw it in different parts of the state, different parts of our lives, different times,” said Barbara. continued on page 2
