CFC equips families and individuals with the tools for stability so that, no matter what shifts a hurting family experience, they can still thrive and know that Christ is with them through it all.

From family coaching to Christ-centered childcare, CFC surrounds children and families with the love of Jesus. This past year, thanks to your support:

100+ families were coached to improve family dynamics.

53 families hosted vulnerable children through the STRONG Families program.

56 kids were mentored by Christian leaders.

7,935 counseling hours were offered to people in need of hope and healing.

129 children attended our Family Care KIDS preschool.

CFC does this work effectively by taking the time to get to know the unique concerns and needs of our local families. CFC is active in the community, participating in school health fairs, church events, festivals, and more. By getting out and getting involved, CFC has its finger on

the pulse of the community’s most urgent needs.

We’re blessed to have many partners helping us in this work, including the Department of Economic Security, schools, pregnancy centers, and various homeless shelters. This year, we expanded our reach through a new partnership with the Alhambra School District. In this district, families face poverty, unstable housing, crime, and chronic absenteeism, creating a daily struggle for the students in these families. CFC is providing training for teachers and counseling programs for students so they can both thrive in spite of the struggles.

No matter the circumstances, our goal is to meet all families where they are. We serve as a visible witness in the community of Christ’s loving kindness, especially to families who don’t know Him. And we can do that thanks to generous donors like you.

Thanks to you, our families feel empowered to rebuild their lives and realize that, even in the struggle, God is showing up for them. Your generosity helps them experience the healing, transformative love of Jesus—that, in Him, “the old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

Summer: A Difficult Season for At-Risk Children

During the summer, vulnerable kids are at much higher risk for an Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE)—a potentially traumatic event that occurs during childhood. Examples of ACEs include experiencing violence, abuse, or neglect; witnessing violence in the home or community; or having a family member attempt or die from suicide.

43% of kids ages 0-17 in Arizona have experienced an ACE.

Children with ACEs are more likely to have chronic mental,

emotional, or behavioral problems and either bully or be bullied.

Intimate partner violence and domestic abuse rates increase by about 12% during the summer, putting children at higher risk of an ACE.

CFC is here to help families during the summer so that when problems arise, they don’t spiral into traumatic catastrophes. Your generosity makes it possible for vulnerable children and families to discover God’s healing and restoration, even during the most difficult seasons.

Letter from the President

For many, summer is a time for family fun and relaxation. We eagerly anticipate vacations, weddings, backyard barbecues, and time at the pool. But what people don’t realize is that summer is a particularly difficult season for at-risk children.

You’ve probably heard me talk about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) before. These are traumatic events that can range from witnessing violence in the home to experiencing abuse and neglect. And unfortunately, during the summer, as many as 43% of Arizona’s children are at much higher risk for an ACE.

That’s why we and the at-risk children in our community need your prayers and support more than ever. Your generosity helps us come alongside struggling families this summer and give them the tools they need to conquer their trials. For those who can’t afford childcare while school is out, CFC offers scholarships to Family Care KIDS. For moms and dads battling personal issues, STRONG Families provides safe, temporary homes for their children. In addition to these and our other services, we partner with other organizations and school districts to broaden our reach and meet these families where they are. And none of this would be possible without you.

Thank you for being a “front-line supporter” for families in Arizona. It means so much to our families that they have a community encouraging, helping, and praying for them.

I hope you will read this newsletter with pleasure and a sense of satisfaction, for your generosity makes possible the Christ-centered work we do. Your partnership is vital to stopping another ACE for an at-risk child and parent.
