December 2025 Public Media CONNECT Member Program Guide

Page 1

Welcome

Dear Member:

Welcome to December and the official start of winter!

I hope you are finding time during the busy holiday season to relax, spend time with family and enjoy your public television stations onair and online.

If you’re still looking for gift ideas this holiday season, Passport – our streaming video service – is a wonderful benefit available with a yearly membership to ThinkTV or CET. Passport offers access to thousands of episodes of your favorite PBS shows.

I want to thank everyone who visited Front Street Studios in Dayton, the new home of The Art Show, and connected with program host Rodney Veal during downtown Dayton’s First Friday events. Also, thank you to everyone who attended Books by the Banks at Cincinnati & Hamilton County’s Public Library main campus and stopped by the CET/ThinkTV table to chat with station staff.

This month at CET, our Education team will host another Ready to Learn Super Saturday, a professional development event for early childhood educators, where attendees will enjoy free, hands-on workshops, books, supplies, gift card raffles and other giveaways.

On the local production side, you’ll find new broadcast episodes of Stephanie’s Recipe Journal, The Art Show, and SHOWCASE with Barbara Kellar, as well as new podcast episodes of Rodney Veal’s Inspired By and Brick by Brick.

The holiday season wouldn’t be complete without festive programming. The midwives of Nonnatus House are delivering more babies and drama in the Call the Midwife Holiday Special 2025, set in both London and Hong Kong. Hope of the Season: Christmas with the Tabernacle Choir features Tony Award-winner Ruthie Miles and actor Dennis Haysbert. Great Performances: Nutcracker from English National Ballet is a reimagining of the classic ballet featuring more than 100 dancers and musicians. American Masters “Starring Dick Van Dyke” celebrates the life and career of the entertainer with exclusive footage, photos and home movies. Happiness, a new musical comedy series, debuts this month and centers on an amateur theatrical group in Tauranga, New Zealand.

From community events to educational workshops to local productions and PBS national programming – it’s all available to the communities we serve because of you. Thank you for supporting CET and ThinkTV.

Have a wonderful holiday season!

Member Spotlight: Diane H. From Clayton, Ohio

Diane has been a proud member of Think TV for 37 years. Her dedication to PBS stems from her love of its thoughtful, high-quality programming she can’t find anywhere else. “Think TV fills my cup, so I need to support it,” Diane said.

From insightful news coverage to inspiring documentaries, Diane enjoys the incredible variety of programming that PBS offers. The State of Ohio , a weekly news program spotlighting the latest happenings at the Statehouse and throughout the Buckeye State, keeps her informed about our legislature and local issues that often go uncovered elsewhere.

Diane says she can’t remember a time when PBS wasn’t part of her Sunday nights. When she’s home in the evenings, she tunes in to programs like PBS News and mysteries on Masterpiece . She also records many of the acclaimed history series, especially those by Ken Burns, and watches them whenever she has time to unwind. Diane says Ken Burns is her favorite PBS personality. She praises the way he captures American history and culture with such careful research and storytelling.

“PBS satisfies my incurable curiosity,” Diane said. Her long-standing commitment helps make our mission possible, and we’re so grateful for her continued support and enthusiasm.

Make Your 2025 Year-End Charitable Donation

December is a great time to make a year-end gift to support public media. If you’re at least 70 ½, you can make a tax-free Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) gift directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to CET or Think TV . Your QCD is not included in your Adjusted Gross Income and therefore is not taxed. The QCD is counted toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). You may satisfy all or part of the required minimum distribution with QCDs, but without having to pay federal income tax on that portion of the distributions. This is particularly advantageous if you do not have a financial need for your full RMD.

Please contact us to learn how it’s a win for you and a win for public television:
