April 2026 Public Media CONNECT Member Program Guide

Page 1

Welcome

Dear Member:

April showers bring May flowers, but April also brings the Action Auction! Our onlineonly auction returns this month and runs April 29 – May 3. We’ll offer unique items, gift cards to your favorite local restaurants, certificates for exclusive tours and experiences and so much more. You can find more details on page 8. Remember to bid high and bid often!

Thank you to all of our members who joined or renewed their membership during our March Membership Drive. With the loss of federal funding and slashed state funding, events like the Action Auction and membership drives take on a greater significance in the health of our organization. Your support for public media allows us to continue our mission of providing local content that connects with the communities we serve, national PBS programming you know and trust, and educational materials that educators, parents, and students rely on.

I also want to thank everyone who joined us last month at our “Joy of Painting” event at Artworks, “Be My Neighbor Day” at Taylor Elementary School, and the screening of Black and Jewish in America at the Holloman Center for Social Justice. Whether encouraging creativity and relaxation or diving into important social justice topics and community discussions, each of these events provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with our viewers in meaningful and inspiring ways.

On the local production side, April brings new episodes of The Art Show , SHOWCASE with Barbara Kellar , and Stephanie’s Recipe Journal . We’ll also premiere the final broadcast episode of Season 2 of Brick by Brick: Solutions For a Thriving Community . Be sure to tune in where you get your favorite podcasts for new episodes of Inspired By with Rodney Veal and Brick by Brick . PBS national programming includes the premiere of Our New World , which explores changing ecosystems on our planet. Lucy Worsley Investigates: The American Revolution finds the English historian telling the story of the American Revolution from Britain’s perspective. Nature’s “Becoming Elephant” follows the remarkable journey of orphaned elephants at Reteti, the first community-owned elephant sanctuary in Africa.

“Return to the Moon” from NOVA follows the four members of the Artemis II crew as they embark on a journey to orbit the Moon, venturing further into the Solar System than ever before.

From community events to local productions to PBS national programming – it’s all available to the communities we serve because of you. Thank you for supporting your public television stations.

April Highlights

Our New World

Premieres Wednesday, April 1, at 10pm on CET and ThinkTV16

Embark on a voyage of hope and wonder in this two-part series. The living world is facing an unprecedented planetary upheaval. How are entire ecosystems being reshaped? How are animals and plants adapting? With humans on the front line, stories of change are told through their eyes.

Lucy Worsley Investigates: The American Revolution

Premieres Tuesday, April 7, at 9pm on CET and ThinkTV16

Join Lucy Worsley as she investigates why the British Empire - the most powerful in history - lost the War of Independence against a ragtag band of American rebels. In this two-part series, she reveals that this wasn’t just a pivotal moment in the forging of the United States, but in the re-making of Britain too.

Nature “Becoming Elephant: The Orphans of Reteti”

Premieres Wednesday, April 8, at 8pm on CET and ThinkTV16

Trace the remarkable journey of orphaned elephants at Reteti, the first community-owned elephant sanctuary in Africa. Raised by Samburu keepers who act as surrogate parents, these elephants are nurtured back to health. The two-part series also highlights how the local community is reshaping conservation from the ground up.

Wilding

Wednesday, April 22, at 10pm on CET and ThinkTV16

Discover how Charlie Burrell and Isabella Tree, facing bankruptcy and inspired by a new scientific thesis on ecology, dared to take a spectacular leap of faith and handed their 3,500-acre estate back to nature. Twenty years later, the Knepp estate has become a leading light for conservation.

NOVA “Return to the Moon”

Wednesday, April 29, at 9pm on CET and ThinkTV16

Follow the four members of the Artemis II crew as they embark on a perilous 10-day journey to orbit the Moon, venturing further into the Solar System than any humans have before. This documentary offers an inside look at the extreme engineering challenges of human-crewed spaceflight from launch to splashdown.

The Art Show

This month, The Art Show takes viewers to Springfield, Ohio to explore the history, legacy and continued impact of legendary American architect Frank Lloyd Wright and his striking Westcott House. Completed in 1908, the home was Wright’s first commission in Ohio. Today, it’s the only “Prairie Style” Wright house in the state.

Host Rodney Veal explores the fascinating history of the Westcott House with executive director and curator Marta Wojcik. Ceramicist Naysan McIlhargey discusses the work he’s displayed at the Westcott House and reflects on how his voice and vision in clay have evolved over time. Then, wielding a panoramic camera, architectural photographer Tom Schiff defies standard perspectives in his snapshots of buildings and places, including the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Tune in Saturday, April 18, at 6pm on CET or Sunday, April 19, at 5:30pm on Think TV16, or stream anytime on the PBS App. You can also subscribe to our YouTube channel to never miss a new segment! Learn more at CETconnect.org/theartshow or thinktv.org/theartshow.

SHOWCASE with Barbara Kellar

This month, enjoy an encore presentation and an all-new episode from SHOWCASE with Barbara Kellar . First up, revisit Barbara’s conversation with portrait, landscape and figurative artist Carl Samson. Known for his expressive style and keen observation, Samson reflects on his creative process, the discipline behind his craft and the ways visual art helps us see our communities and ourselves more clearly.

Then, Barbara welcomes Alyssa Wang, music director of the Cincinnati Ballet. Wang shares her journey as a conductor, her approach to collaborating with dancers and choreographers and how live music shapes the emotional power of ballet performances. We also want to thank PNC Grow Up Great and Fred Rogers Productions for helping make this event possible. Be My Neighbor Days are free events that offer families opportunities to learn, play and serve together. At our next event, participants will have the chance to make pull toys for local shelter dogs. CET and Think TV recently received a generous Power Grant from the AES Ohio Foundation for the third consecutive year. With this renewed

investment, we will continue producing Brick by Brick and showcasing what’s possible when communities collaborate to imagine new solutions.

AES Ohio keeps electricity flowing across our region, and through its foundation, established in 1985, it also strengthens the community in powerful ways by investing in education and employment readiness, health and human services, the arts and community needs. On behalf of our viewers and all of us at CET and Think TV, we extend our sincere gratitude to the AES Ohio Foundation for supporting public media and partnering with our stations to make Brick by Brick possible.
