MEET THIS WEEK’S VALUED TEAM MEMBER
Jamie is in her second year with CESA 7 and currently serves as the Youth Apprenticeship Coach at Denmark High School. Prior to joining CESA 7, she served in the U S Army Reserves and worked in healthcare experiences she jokes helped prepare her well for working with high school students — before spending 14 years in education. She continues to be inspired not only by the incredible potential in every student she meets, but also by the dedication of teachers, school staff, and employer mentors who work tirelessly to help students bring out their very best, both in the classroom and out in the “real world ”
Jamie loves working with students as they grow in confidence, explore career opportunities, and begin to see what’s possible for their futures Youth Apprenticeship holds a special place in Jamie’s heart because her own son participated in the program Witnessing the difference it made for her family fuels her drive to help other families to access those same life-changing opportunities.
Jamie was recently nominated for the Education Impact Award through the Manitowoc Area Chamber of Commerce
As the Southern Door County School District prepares for an operational referendum this April, the district has taken a proactive and transparent approach to engaging its community Central to this work has been a strong partnership with CESA 7, which has provided guidance in communication, planning, and stakeholder engagement throughout the process Rather than focusing solely on the referendum, Southern Door supported by CESA 7 developed a clear communication framework grounded in four key pillars, ensuring stakeholders understand both the district’s strengths and the realities shaping its future.
The process began by highlighting what makes Southern Door strong, including high-quality programs, dedicated staff, and meaningful student opportunities This focus on points of pride helped anchor community conversations in a shared commitment to student success. To build trust, the district also clearly communicated cost-saving measures already implemented, such as budget reductions, staffing adjustments, and operational efficiencies. With CESA 7’s support, these efforts were shared in a transparent and accessible way, reinforcing the district’s commitment to responsible stewardship of resources.
In addition, the district worked closely with CESA 7 to define and communicate the priority areas driving the need for a referendum, including safety and security, enrollment trends, operational sustainability and fiscal responsibility, staff recruitment and retention, facilities maintenance, and student achievement.
