2026-2027 Special Education Teacher Induction Program
Last week, we kicked off our 2026–27 Special Education Teacher Induction Program! This program provides new special education teachers with ongoing professional learning, coaching, collaboration, and connection throughout the school year. A special thank-you to Amy Hochmeister, a special education teacher in the Cedar Grove-Belgium School District, for sharing inspiring words with our new special educators and reflecting on her own experience as a participant in the Induction Program. Thank you to everyone who attended. We are excited to learn alongside this year’s participants and look forward to the year ahead!

District Spotlight - Green Bay Area Public School District E M P OW E R I N G F UT U R E S UC C E SS : T H E I M PAC T O F T H E G BA PS A N D C E S A 7 PA RT N E R S H I P Green Bay Area Public School District values its strong partnership with CESA 7. Through participation in the NEWYA, WiMLSS Project, Title I Coordinator Network, Curriculum Directors Network, and District Assessment Coordinators Network, district leaders collaborate with regional colleagues, access timely resources, and strengthen opportunities and outcomes for students. GBAPS was recently recognized for having more students obtain an industry-recognized credential than any other district in Wisconsin. This is partly due to the increase in Youth Apprenticeships that they have embraced through their partnership with NEWYA. Over the past several years, GBAPS has made a significant commitment to expanding work-based learning opportunities for students. By embedding NEWYA coaches directly in their high schools, students have greater access to support connecting with employers, enrolling in Youth Apprenticeship, and successfully completing the program. GBAPS has also embraced its role as an employer by creating paid work experiences for students within the district. Students have had opportunities to gain hands-on experience while supporting areas such as IT, maintenance, and early childhood programming. These experiences allow students to build valuable career skills while contributing directly to their own school community. The partnership between GBAPS and NEWYA has helped make Youth Apprenticeship a more accessible and integrated part of the student experience while strengthening connections between students, the district, and employers throughout the Green Bay area.
