SUNGLASSES for children
Children’s eyes are particularly delicate, so it is essential to protect them from sunlight. Within our range of sunglasses for children, we offer two types of lenses, designed to best meet the needs of the main age groups (Infancy 0-2, Pre-school 3-5, Schoolchildren 6-10 and Pre-teen 11 -14).
Polarizing filters in Triacetate An unbreakable material that has the ability to reduce reflections from reflective surfaces and improve comfort, contrast perception and vision quality, offering maximum protection from UVA-UVB sunrays.
Polycarbonate lenses Lightweight and impact resistant, they offer high protection from UVA-UVB sunrays.

SUN EXPOSURE
The importance of protecting children’s eyes Up to 80 per cent of total sun exposure occurs before the age of 20, a stage at which children’s and young people’s eyes, still in the process of development, do not possess sufficient natural defences to effectively filter out harmful radiation. Protecting them with sunglasses from the very first year of life is therefore essential, both to avoid immediate damage and to prevent serious conditions in adulthood, such as age-related macular degeneration. This protection becomes even more important given the significance of time spent outdoors, which is vital for vitamin D synthesis and for slowing the progression of childhood short-sightedness. During outdoor activities, however, care must be taken not only with direct sunlight but also with reflected rays, including glare caused by the use of smartphones and tablets. Specialists recommend the use of sunglasses of guaranteed quality, made from safe and comfortable materials. It is essential that the frames are wraparound, to prevent light entering from the sides, and that the lenses offer complete protection, capable of absorbing at least 99 per cent of UVA and UVB rays (up to 400 nanometres).

SUN SOFT NEWBORN COLLECTION Active Sun Soft Newborn, our first collection of sunglasses for newborns, is entirely manufactured at our headquarters in Vedano Olona. Every detail of the frames: from design to packaging. This first collection, Made in Italy, has been designed for those who have made the visual well-being of children one of the main pillars of their specialisation. The collection includes 5 styles in 6 colours, available from size 34 to 41. These are one-piece frames made of soft, ultra-flexible material with a central anatomical bridge designed for the little ones. The temples are fitted with an adjustable rubber band at the end of the temple to maintain the correct optical centre.

The groove is designed for high power lenses to avoid altering the curve of the front. Ideal for occlusive treatments.

SAFETY ISO 12870 tested. To ensure that children are as safe as possible, the elastic band supplied has been tested in accordance with standard 16 CFR 1501 (2019): Procedure for identifying toys and other articles intended for children under 3 years of age that present a risk of suffocation, asphyxiation or ingestion due to small parts. The frames and elastic bands have also been tested by Certottica using an in-house method for the migration of certain elements (heavy metals).
