A Message from Dr. Matt Gotschall Central Community College is excited to share this season’s lineup of learning opportunities designed to enrich your quality of life. These offerings represent just a sampling of the many options available throughout our region. In addition to these community-focused, non-credit courses, CCC offers more than 35 credit programs in career, business, health, and technical fields—each leading to a certificate, diploma, or associate degree. We work closely with local employers to ensure that the skills and trades we teach are aligned with workforce needs in our area. CCC also provides a wide range of student support services, including scholarships, academic assistance such as tutoring and writing support, personalized instruction, and dedicated resources for veterans through our award-winning Veterans and Military Resource Centers. Thousands of students across central Nebraska benefit from these opportunities each year as they pursue their career, educational, and personal goals. If you or a loved one is ready to learn a new skill or enhance your current skill set—now is your time!

We’re proud that year after year, more than 90% of CCC graduates remain in Nebraska to work or continue their education—and over 85% stay right here in central Nebraska. That’s a significant impact for a region of approximately 309,000 residents. If there’s a class you’re interested in that isn’t currently offered, we encourage you to contact your local Community and Workforce Education office. We’re always open to new ideas and may be able to include it in a future term. We hope you’ll join the many learners already benefiting from CCC’s wide range of educational opportunities.

Registration, Cancellation, and Refunds Register Early Class sizes are limited, and paid registrations will be honored in the order they are received. Early registration helps us determine if we have met the minimum enrollment required to offer a class, please register as soon as possible. Class Cancellation, Drops, and Refunds Classes may be canceled before the start date if enrollment is insufficient. To secure your spot and help keep classes available, register and pay as soon as possible. If you need to withdraw, please notify us at least one business day before the class meets (unless otherwise noted). This allows us to process your refund and offer your spot to another student. Refunds are issued to the original form of payment and may take 7-14 business days to process. Weather Cancellations If classes or workshops are canceled due to weather, registered students will be contacted by phone or email. Campus closures will also be announced through local news sources. Classes will either be cancelled or rescheduled based on instructor availability.

National Genealogy Day

Do you ever wonder about family members who came before you? Their place in history, personal stories, family connections and relationships? Or maybe you have been intrigued by an unearthed family skeleton or secret? This one-day genealogy conference is designed for those at the beginning of their journey to those with advanced genealogical knowledge. Whatever your level, this experience will be interesting and fun. Held at the Columbus Campus, 4500 63rd St..

Kerri Hoppe is a passionate baker who will help you master the fundamentals of making sourdough bread. All are invited to attend, whether you have little experience or possess culinary skills. The class will focus on the starter, the consistency of the dough, baking techniques, kneading skills and how a loaf should look and feel. Each student will take home starter and bread dough to bake. The Magic of 400,000 Tulips!

This one-day excursion might be described as calming, restorative and relaxing as we visit a Tulip Festival in Nebraska. This colorful event showcases 35 varieties of tulips on four acres of land. After this delightful experience

Whether your child is a seasoned performer or trying theatre of the first time, we would love to see them audition and share their talents. Please note: This is an open audition, meaning anyone can try out, but a maximum of 60 roles can be cast, a standard Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) regulation. Not every show has the perfect part for every child, but you never know which role might be the perfect fit, so have the kids come give it a try. Children who are cast will need to pay a $50 participation fee and be available for rehearsals during the day. Coming Summer of 2026

Basic Drawing Techniques

Arts & Crafts Ready, Set, Crochet

Jump into the world of crochet with Jenee’ in this fun, beginner-friendly class. You’ll learn the basics – hooks, yarn types and how to read labels and simple written patterns. Get hands-on with small samples or a mini project while mastering the chain stitch and single crochet and learning how to increase and decrease. These core skills open the door to endless creations – think cozy scarves, snuggly blankets and adorable amigurumi. Bring H (8) crochet hook and one skein of medium (size 4) yarn. Mix-and-Match Barn Quilts

Learn step-by-step how to paint a long-lasting 2-by-2 barn quilt. Choose one of 48 different geometric patterns or a Backyard Delight Chicken Barn Quilt. Bring yellow, delicate FrogTape (1.14”), a hairdryer and an extension cord. All other supplies are provided. Please wear clothes to paint in and bring cardboard so your art can be transported safely. Italic Calligraphy

Calligraphy is an elegant form of handwriting used in creating announcements and invitations or enhancing scrapbooks, journals and artwork. You will learn the italic style and practice basic pen strokes. You will need to bring a 3.0 mm felt tip calligraphy pen. Take this class and learn to draw, starting with the basic shapes, one- and twopoint perspective and continuing with shading. You will learn and practice the basics, then take these skills home for future endeavors in sketching and painting. Step into the world of oil painting and learn how to create beautiful landscapes from scratch. In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll explore basic techniques like blending, layering and color mixing while painting a simple scenic view. No experience needed – just bring your curiosity and creativity! This class is located at a studio in Saint Paul. VISIT US AT OUR NEW LOCATION! The Holdrege Center moved in December 2025 into the former Great Western Bank building at 424 West Ave., Holdrege, after extensive renovations and building updates. The nearly 11,300-square-foot facility includes classrooms, live video rooms, a nursing assistant lab, computer lab, offices and a testing room. In addition to college courses, the center offers adult and community education, English as a second language, health education and emergency medical technician courses, and high school programming. Elena Olson King has served as community education coordinator at CCC-Holdrege since 2015 and as learning center manager since 2018. She previously worked as a GED instructor at the Holdrege Center. Olson King graduated with honors from Union College — now Union Adventist University — in Lincoln with a bachelor’s degree in English education. Babysitting Bootcamp

This fun, hands-on class will help your child become a skilled babysitter. Students will be introduced to infant, toddler and school-age children care. They will learn about the business of babysitting, the character and responsibilities of a babysitter, troubleshooting solutions to common problems, how to administer first aid and the Heimlich Maneuver and more. Students will also receive CPR certification in Pediatric First Aid/CPR/ AED. Graphic Design and Illustration: Storybook Creation

In this creative course, students will explore the full storytelling process — from imagination to publication. You’ll begin by illustrating a unique, original painting that tells a visual story. Then you’ll bring that image to life through words, writing a short narrative inspired by your artwork. Once your story and painting are complete, you’ll learn the basics of Adobe InDesign and Illustrator to design and lay out your very own Spring 2026 | Community Education - 34

stress reduction, a healthy cooking demonstration and a personalized physical assessment to evaluate your current health status. WORKFORCE EDUCATION Providing workforce training and support lies at the heart of Central Community College’s community and workforce education department. You can take advantage of classes offered at CCC or request customized training at your business. Training is available in computers, environmental health and safety, industrial technology, leadership development, quality control,

welding and other areas. You’ll also find training services such as consultation and help with worker training grants, the Community College Gap Assistance Program, conference planning and on site computer support.

ACROSS THE AREA Health Care Training Nursing Assistant Training Central Community College offers the 76-hour training required by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services for registry and for employment as a nursing assistant. Upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible to take the state competency examination, which consists of a written and skills test. Nursing Assistants Known as nurse aides, orderlies, patient care technicians and home health aides – assist patients with daily living tasks. They work in nursing homes, hospitals, mental health facilities, assisted living facilities and private homes. Being a nursing assistant can also be a steppingstone to becoming an LPN, RN or other health professional. Job prospects for nursing assistants are expected to be excellent due to the increasing long-term-care needs of an aging population. • •

Nebraska Nurse Aide Registry To be placed on the Nebraska Nurse Aide Registry, the state of Nebraska requires that individuals must meet the following requirements: Must be at least 16 years of age. Must have no convictions of crime involving moral turpitude. Must be able to speak and understand the English language or a language understood by a substantial portion of the health care facility population. Must successfully complete a basic

course of training and competency evaluation program for nursing assistants approved by the Nebraska Department of Health. State competency examination for recertification testing is also available at certain locations.

American Heart Association CPR/AED/First Aid Classes CPR, AED and First Aid Training Central Community College is an American Heart Association Training Center and, as such, plays a vital role in helping deliver Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) educational courses to the general public and health care professionals. CCC has been an AHA Training Center since 1989.

Medication Aide (MA) Central Community College offers the 40-hour training required by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services for registry and for employment as a medication aide. Upon successful completion of the training, students are eligible to take the state competency examination. Medication aides, also known as med aides, assist competent individuals, caretakers and licensed health care professionalsin administering medications. They work in long-termcare, assisted living, home care and other health care facilities.

The American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support (BLS) courses reinforce health care professionals’ understanding of the importance of early CPR and defibrillation, performing basic steps of CPR, relieving choking, using an AED, and the role of each link in the Chain of Survival.
