Guard rails for councillors are gone
The 15 Central Coast councillors elected in 2024
Rik Hart, during one of his final interviews as Administrator of Central Coast Council, called them guard rails to keep the new councillors on track. Now they’ve gone. Minister for Local Government Ron Hoenig has closed the Performance Improvement Order (PIO) which he controversially issued to Central Coast Council days before the 15 councillors were decided at the Local Government elections in September 2024. financial crisis at the new council, which was formed in 2016 by amalgamating the former Wyong and Gosford local government areas. Mayor Lawrie McKinna, in a Mayoral Minute to be presented to the May 26 meeting, said the PIO officially closing on May 12 marked an important milestone for Council. “Over the past two years, Council has worked to address the requirements set out in the PIO,” he said.
