High-speed rail gets the tick to proceed *for any comparable product
The high-speed rail link between Sydney and Newcastle, with the Central Coast at its heart, has taken another step forward. Infrastructure Australia, the Federal Government’s independent assessor for major projects, has endorsed the next phase of the development, allowing detailed design and contractor engagement to begin. The assessment clears the way for a two-year design process to confirm around 40 per cent of the project’s layout and construction details. High Speed Rail Authority CEO Tim Parker said while the final decision rests with the government, the signs are promising.
