LYRICS BY KAREN ZACARÍAS

Victoria Do you feel what I feel? Can you not hear the sound? You see, that’s my wounded heart And when you look at me, It starts to pound. Could i be dreaming? I am only flesh and bone. Can you not feel my heart As it beats for you alone? Dale calor a mi vida.

MY WOUNDED HEART*

LYRICS BY KAREN ZACARÍAS

Victoria Do you feel what I feel? Can you not hear the sound? You see, that’s my wounded heart And when you look at me, It starts to pound. Could I be dreaming? I am only flesh and bone. Can you not feel my heart As it beats for you alone? The gift of your gaze Makes my blood race The pulse of your lips Makes my skin beg Ensemble Touch me! Kiss me! Touch me! Love me! Victoria Fill me with your love Because to deny your affection Is a punishment without forgiveness Ensemble Touch me! Kiss me! Touch me! Love me! Victoria Fill my body with your love Heat up my life. Heat it up before I die of passion My wounded heart Pilar Strip away my fear Wrap me in your love I want to be in your fire And burn without fear Victoria Look at the scars On my poor heart Heal my wounds That torment my reason

Ensemble Feel the heat of my soul And my profound passion Your kisses are my air Breathe me whole, my heart Pilar, Victoria Touch me ! Kiss me! Love me ! Women I am asking you Pilar Because denying your affection Is a punishment without forgiveness Victoria Fill up my body with your love Heat up my life Heat up my life Company Feel the warmth of my soul And my profound passion Victoria My wounded heart Ensemble My wounded heart Victoria, Pilar Touch me! FALLASTE CORAZÓN

MUSIC AND LYRICS BY CUCO SANCHEZ

P14 PERFORMANCES MAGAZINE

Qué lástima me das. No vuelvas a apostar.

DEFEATED HEART*

MUSIC AND LYRICS BY CUCO SANCHEZ

Sebastián And you—what did you think? That you were king of the world? And you, who were never Capable of forgiveness. Cruel and merciless, You mocked everything. Today you beg for affection, If only out of pity. Where is your pride? Where is your courage? And now that you are defeated, You beg for charity. Now, you see that loving Is not the same as being loved.

Now that you are finished, I pity you so much. Accursed heart, I am glad to feel you suffer, And watch you weep and humble yourself For this great love. Life is a roulette wheel Where we place all our gambles, And when it was your turn. You used to always win, But today good luck turned her back on you. You failed, my heart! Never place a bet again.

ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT & COMMISSIONS

LA WRITERS’ WORKSHOP

LA ARTIST RESIDENCIES

As part of our commitment to supporting new plays and playwrights, we foster and develop a broad range of theatrical work from diverse artists locally, nationally, and abroad.

Since 2005, we have invited local playwrights to spend a year researching and writing a new work with the feedback of their fellow writers and artistic staff as part of our L.A. Writers’ Workshop.

Center Theatre Group’s LA Artist Residencies were established in 2023 and were created to foster community and share resources with Los Angeles based theatre artists, companies, and organizations.
