CELINA CAJUN FEST RETURNS AS THE CITY’S PREMIER COMMUNITY EVENT
Celina Cajun Fest presented by Methodist Celina Medical Center is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 9, from 2:00 - 9:00 PM in Downtown Celina. As the City’s largest annual special event, Cajun Fest continues to serve as a signature community celebration and a major regional attraction, welcoming thousands of residents and visitors to the Downtown Square each year. The event provides a unique opportunity to showcase the charm, character, and continued growth of Downtown Celina while supporting local businesses and community engagement.
This year’s festival will feature an exciting entertainment lineup headlined by the Eli Young Band and William Clark Green, along with the return of Gator Country, which will once again host two live educational gator shows that remain one of the festival’s most popular attractions for families and attendees of all ages.
Several new enhancements and operational improvements have been implemented for the 2026 event to elevate the attendee experience, improve event operations, and strengthen public safety measures throughout the Downtown area. New features include the fencing of the Downtown Square footprint, the addition of crash protection barriers, expanded security camera coverage throughout Downtown, enhanced and expanded seating options for the Gator Country shows, and dedicated lawn seating areas for concert attendees.
Additionally, the City is excited to partner with Celina ISD to showcase student artwork inside the building formerly known as The Forge, located adjacent to the Kids Zone. This activation will provide another family-friendly and community-centered feature within the festival footprint while highlighting the creativity and
talent of Celina students. The festival will also include an expanded VIP experience to accommodate increased attendance and community interest. Overall, Celina Cajun Fest continues to represent an important opportunity to celebrate the community, support tourism and economic activity, and showcase the city as a vibrant and welcoming destination.
PUBLIC MEETING TO HIGHLIGHT OUSLEY PARK AND WILLOCK MASTER PLAN
The City of Celina will host a joint public meeting on Monday, May 11, at 6:00 PM in the City Council Chambers to provide residents, business owners, and community stakeholders with updates on two significant community initiatives: the Ousley Park Stream Restoration Improvements project and the Willock Master Plan. Both efforts reflect the City’s continued commitment to strategic infrastructure investment, environmental stewardship, long-term planning, and community engagement. The meeting will serve as an opportunity for stakeholders to receive project updates, review planning concepts, ask questions, and provide feedback as these initiatives move forward.
OUSLEY PARK STREAM RESTORATION IMPROVEMENTS
The City of Celina Engineering Department will host a public meeting regarding the Ousley Park Stream Restoration Improvements. The project construction contract was awarded to RoeschCo Construction LLC on March 10, 2026. The meeting will provide an overview of the project scope, timeline, anticipated construction impacts, and planned stream restoration improvements. Residents and businesses are encouraged to attend and provide feedback as the project moves forward.
WILLOCK MASTER PLAN
The Celina Economic Development Corporation (EDC) will host a public meeting regarding the Willock Master Plan. The Willock Master Plan is a collaborative planning initiative focused on establishing a long-term vision for the Willock site near Downtown Celina, including potential mixed-use development, public spaces, retail, dining, and entertainment opportunities. The meeting will include an overview of the planning process, emerging development scenarios, and opportunities for community feedback as the project advances.
CITY TO HOST NATIONAL POLICE WEEK CEREMONY ON DOWNTOWN SQUARE
As part of National Police Week, the City invites residents to attend a special ceremony on Thursday, May 14, beginning at 9:00 AM on the Downtown Square to honor the service, dedication, and sacrifice of law enforcement officers who work each day to protect and serve our community.
The ceremony will provide an opportunity for residents, community leaders, and public safety partners to come together in recognition of the professionalism and commitment demonstrated by members of law enforce-
ment. In addition to honoring active officers, the event will include a tribute to Fallen Officers from the past year, recognizing their unwavering service and ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
This annual observance reflects the City’s continued appreciation for the courage, dedication, and selfless service of law enforcement professionals and serves as a meaningful opportunity for the community to show its support and gratitude.
FIRE STATION #4 CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS UPDATE
Crossland Construction continues to make steady progress on Fire Station #4, with multiple key components completed and several critical phases currently underway. Recent efforts have focused on advancing structural elements, utility infrastructure, and interior preparations, while upcoming activities will further support vertical construction and interior buildout. The following report provides a summary of completed work, current construction activities, and scheduled next steps as the project moves forward.
WORK COMPLETED
• Concrete masonry unit installation on the west side of the apparatus bay has been completed.
• Foundations for the dumpster enclosure and fuel island enclosure are in place.
• In-wall mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-in for the west apparatus bay has been completed.
WORK IN PROGRESS
• Concrete ring beam installation for the storm shelter is underway.
• Concrete masonry unit wall construction for the east apparatus bay and training tower is ongoing.
• Structural steel erection for the living quarters is in progress.
• Initial grinding operations for the polished concrete flooring have commenced.
UPCOMING WORK
• Structural steel installation for the apparatus bay will begin.
• Continued in-wall mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-in for the west apparatus bay is scheduled.
• Concrete deck pours for the mezzanine and training tower are forthcoming.
• Metal stud framing for the living quarters is scheduled to begin May 12.
PARKS ADMINISTRATION BUILDING DEVELOPMENT PROGRESS
Crossland Construction continues to advance construction of the Parks Administration Building, with notable progress in interior systems, security infrastructure, and finish components. Current efforts are focused on overhead systems, interior finishes, and final installations, positioning the project for the next phase of comple-
tion. The following outlines recent accomplishments, ongoing work, and upcoming activities.

• Access control and security rough-in has been completed.
• Storefront door hardware installation is complete.
• Operable partition track installation has been completed.
• Can light installation has been completed.
WORK IN PROGRESS
• Installation of hard ceilings is underway.
• Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing ceiling rough-in is ongoing.
• Wall tile installation is in progress.
• Continued access control and security installation is underway.
• Electrical and mechanical trim-out activities are in progress.
UPCOMING WORKS
• Flooring and tile installation will commence.
• Millwork and countertop installation is scheduled to begin.
• Signage installation is scheduled to begin.
DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY PHASE 4A PROJECT: LANE CLOSURE NOTIFICATION
As part of the continued progress on the DNT Phase 4A project, construction crews will soon implement targeted lane closures to support key project activities. These closures are necessary to facilitate the transport of topsoil, conduct mass haul operations, perform area cleanup, and set structural beams. It is important to note that full closure of the left lanes is not anticipated.
Monday, May 11, through Saturday, May 16:
• The northbound and southbound left lane of Dallas Pkwy from First St to FM 428 will be closed daily from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
Friday, May 15, through Saturday, May 16:
• All eastbound and westbound lanes of Punk Carter Pkwy between northbound and southbound Dallas Pkwy will be closed overnight from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
