Due to forecasted weather conditions, the City made the decision to cancel the Celina Friday Night Market scheduled for this evening. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution to prioritize the safety of vendors, attendees, and City staff. The City appreciates the community’s understanding and continued support of the Friday Night Market and the many local vendors who participate in the event. Staff looks forward to welcoming residents and visitors back when conditions are more favorable. The Friday Night Market will return for the spring season in April, and the City is excited to bring the community together again for this popular event series on the Downtown Square.
Following the inaugural year of the Texas Tastemakers Festival, City staff worked collaboratively with SBG Hospitality to identify a mutually agreeable date for the 2026 event. This coordination also required alignment with H-E-B, the festival’s Title Sponsor. To assist in the scheduling process, the City proposed several potential dates in May, June, September, and November of 2026 in an effort to accommodate the availability and logistical considerations of all parties involved.
After reviewing the proposed options, SBG Hospitality, in consultation with H-E-B, determined that the available dates would not support a successful event. The primary considerations cited included existing event commitments and concerns regarding seasonal weather conditions - particularly elevated temperatures - which could adversely affect attendance and the overall event experience. As a result, SBG Hospitality formally notified the City via email of its decision to terminate the Partnership Agreement for the 2026 Texas Tastemakers Festival.
This past week, the City was pleased to welcome four new team members to our organization. We are excited to have them join our staff and look forward to the contributions they will make in supporting our continued growth and service to the community. Additionally, we would like to congratulate Dedrick Shannon on success-
fully passing his ICC Commercial Plumbing Exam. This accomplishment reflects his dedication to professional development and maintaining the high standards of expertise and service that benefit our residents and organization.
We also extend our congratulations to Gerardo Vasquez on his promotion to Senior Construction Inspector. This well-deserved advancement recognizes his hard work, expertise, and continued commitment to supporting the City’s infrastructure and development efforts.
This week, the Celina Police Department hosted its annual Supervisor’s Retreat, bringing together department supervisors for several days of leadership development, collaboration, and professional growth. The retreat provides an opportunity for the department’s leadership team to engage in meaningful discussions, strengthen leadership skills, and reinforce the department’s commitment to providing exceptional service to the Celina community.
As part of the retreat, supervisors had the opportunity to hear from Dave Anderson, who spoke to the leadership team about the principles outlined in his book, Becoming a Leader of Character. His presentation focused on the six habits that can make-or-break a leader, both professionally and personally: Courage, Humility, Integrity, Selflessness, Duty, and Positivity. These principles closely align with the values the Celina Police Depart-
ment strives to uphold in its daily service to the community. The City extends its appreciation to Dave Anderson for sharing his time, insight, and perspective with the department’s leadership team. Appreciation is also extended to the Celina Police Administration Team for organizing the retreat and continuing to invest in the development and effectiveness of the department’s leaders.
As part of the continued progress on the DNT Phase 4A project, construction crews will soon implement targeted lane closures to support key project activities. These closures are necessary to facilitate the transport of topsoil, conduct mass haul operations, perform area cleanup, and set structural beams. It is important to note that full closure of the left lanes is not anticipated. Efforts will be made to ensure that lane closures are coordinated to prevent conflicts within overlapping work zones.
Monday, March 9, through Saturday, March 14:
• The northbound and southbound left lanes of Dallas Pkwy from First St to FM 428 will be closed daily from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
